22.01.2022 For those living and going to school in North-West Tasmania, Term 2 will now start on 4 May 2020. All Department of Education schools, libraries and Child and... Family Centres in the following municipalities will be closed for access to the public until Monday 4 May 2020: Latrobe Kentish Devonport Central Coast Burnie Wynyard-Waratah Circular Head West Coast This decision has been made based on public health advice to ensure the health and safety of people in the North-West. If your child has work from term one they are welcome to continue using that if they like. We also have a range of age-appropriate materials on our Learning at Home website. But remember, there are no expectations for learning for next week. For Years 11 and 12 students, teachers will be in contact throughout the week. Child and Family Centres remain closed, other than for the provision of critical services and the facilitation of on-site Child Health and Parenting Nurses. For further information please visit: https://www.education.tas.gov.au/learning-at-home/ or email: [email protected]

12.01.2022 Yesterday Mrs Prior came in to help us learn about ocean acidification. We learnt that carbon dioxide dissolving in sea water forms carbonic acid and that this acid dissolves sea creatures shells. We experimented with air, our breath and car exhaust fumes to see which contains more carbon dioxide. This got us thinking about invisible ocean pollution and what we can do to help protect our oceans.

10.01.2022 We thank everyone for their ongoing support during this challenging time. Keeping children at home, where possible, for their learning has helped to limit the s...pread of COVID-19, but we must now look to return students to classrooms. We will be taking a staged approach so we can manage the movement of people on our sites. From Monday 25 May 2020: * Kindergarten to Year 6 students will return to school-based learning * All Year 11 and 12 students return to school-based learning (including Extension Schools). From Tuesday 9 June 2020: *Year 7-10 students will return to school-based learning. Health and hygiene is still critical so we will continue to ensure extra safety measures are in place. And as always, please dont send your child to school if they are sick, or if they have a health condition and you would like to speak with your doctor first. For more information please visit our website: https://www.education.tas.gov.au//novel-coronavirus-covid/
