11.01.2022 STREET ART | Next time you enter Red Peak Forest Estate have a look at the striking relief sculptures that grace the entrance walls on Red Peak Boulevard. Created by local artist, Hans Nielsen, the two sculptures depict the Boyd’s Forest Dragon a lizard found in the local Wet Tropics Region. They are made from Chillagoe marble; a material sourced only a few hours drive from Cairns.... A key feature of the sculptures is that the Dragon has its mouth open in the sculpture at the entrance, as it welcomes you into the estate, and its mouth closed in the sculpture at the exit.

08.01.2022 ROAD UPGRADE UPDATE Improvements to the Cairns Western Arterial Road (CWAR) continue this year with an upgrade of the Harley Street intersection at Kamerunga. The 1.35km project is located between Stoney Creek Road and Kamerunga Road on the CWAR and is expected to be completed in December 2020. The upgrade will improve safety and traffic flows on this important transport corridor.... 04.01.2022 ROAD UPGRADE UPDATE The Smithfield Bypass upgrade, of the intersection of Cairns Western Arterial Road (CWAR) and the Captain Cook Highway, to a signalised intersection has commenced. Stage 1 of a 5 stage works program will construct a new temporary roundabout to the South of the existing Caravonica roundabout by 30 June 2020. The Smithfield Bypass $164m road infrastructure upgrade is a welcome investment in our local transport network.
