In April, the UN Secretary-General urged governments to make gender-based violence (GBV) a key part of response plans to COVID-19. 03.01.2022 In late August 2017, the Rohingya communities of Northern Myanmar were subjected to systemic genocide. In September 2017, an average of 20,000 refugees per day fled to one small stretch of land. By October 2017, the 700,000 Rohingya had formed the world’s largest and most densely populated refugee camp near Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh. The scale and speed of the refugee influx was overwhelming, eventually totalling approximately 850,000 people.... In supporting the #Rohingya crisis, #RedRAustralia has facilitated 50 deployments of technical specialists to eight UN agencies since 2017. Our largest single response to a #humanitarian emergency.
