25.01.2022 We cannot pretend the past 4 or so months have been easy. They havent. Our emotions have been tried and tested to the point theyve broken more than a few times. Weve missed all those smiling faces we expected to see come through our doors, weve missed the end of trip stories and all of those incredible memories that were never realised. But in tough times you dig deep. Were pivoting (to the point were almost dizzy!) and encouraging fellow Western Australians to exper...ience our world class destinations. A massive thanks to Western Australia for featuring us and getting our name out there! To all of our existing clients, we look forward to welcoming you when you can travel again. To our new clients...we look forward to meeting you! A RedSands really is the BEST way to see Australia!

24.01.2022 Wanderlust. We are grateful to still have our freedom to travel in Western Australia, a state bigger than many European countries combined (and full of beautiful natural landscapes and unique fauna). To us it is not something we are taking for granted though, as we know it could change very quickly. We would like to thank all of our existing and new clients for their wonderful support. Its been a challenging year but we are getting busier as more Western Australians discover just how damn awesome our campers are. #proudwestaussie #supportlocalbusiness #wanderoutyonder #wanderlust #gratitude #westcoastbestcoast

From April next year, travellers will also be able to hire the best 4WD Campers and Landcruiser Prados to explore this exciting and magnificent region. Get on board and book early. From what we are seeing, the Kimberley is going to be hot property next year! https://www.redsandscampers.com/new-depot-in-kununurra-for/

23.01.2022 Couldnt have said it better ourselves Jorg!

22.01.2022 Day 7 - Exmouth Words cannot describe how I feel right now. Weve had the absolute honor of swimming alongside the largest shark in the sea. And it really is an honor that these docile planktivorous creatures allow us to share their personal space, albeit briefly. We headed out early with the professional and bubbly crew from Live Ningaloo. We werent outside of the reef for more than 10 mins when we heard over the radio weve got a whale shark!. ... Up we steamed to the northern part of the reef and were the first crew to jump in with our new friend. Stop right there. Hold the front door. Mouth gaping wide, our whale shark comes into view, just cruising along. Such grace and beauty. As soon as his/her pectoral fin is level with us, we swim. Hard. These guys are fast. Probably ok if your an Olympic freestyler but even with fins on I struggled to keep up for more than 2-3 mins, but it was enough. As they swim away you stare in awe as their massive tail fin glides from side to side. We all jumped back in the boat and repeated this mind blowing experience three times. Then we all agreed to call it quits as we had the opportunity to possibly swim with manta rays. Live Ningaloo did not disappoint. As we jumped in, our ballerina of the sea turned towards us a few moments as if to say Hey, and then swam off, leaving us speechless. We also saw countless turtles, dolphins and a mama humpback whale with her baby calf who wouldve been less than 2 weeks old. BEST-DAY-EVER! Our memory bank is very happy right now. Thank you Live Ningaloo. @liveningaloo @chrisjansenimages @jesshaddenphoto #whaleshark #bucketlist #adventureawaits #australiascoralcoast #underwaterworld #protectwhatyoulove #sharkoftheweek #wouldyoudoit #vitaminsea @ Exmouth, Western Australia

21.01.2022 Today we celebrate what makes us uniquely Western Australian. To us, to be Western Australian is to have a love of the outdoors and nature; to be humble and kind; to love great food and to be innovative. Take a moment today to reflect upon what makes you proud to be a Sandgroper or if you dont live here, what you love about this special place and its people. #Wanderoutyonder #Wanderfar Kyle Bowman (IG)

21.01.2022 Days 10 to 12 Karijini National Park We are yet to meet someone who hasnt fallen in love with Karijini. We cannot even recall how many times we have visited this magical place, but love it every time we go. It is a feeling you just cannot describe in words. It is totally experiential. It does get chilly overnight during winter at Karijini, but warms up to a delicious temperature during the day. Perfect for swimming in the refreshing pools and waterfalls and cool enough fo...r hiking the varied levels of gorges. Our favourite places are Fern Pool (Jubura) and Kalamina Gorge. Due to the school holidays, it was busy at Jubura, but you need a 4WD to access Kalamina, so there were a LOT less people there. In fact, we had the pool all to ourselves so our sons re-enacted their superman diving from a few years ago (see photos)! Hot tips: if you want Jubura all to yourself, then get up super early (e.g. 6 am) or go just before sunset. Just keep voices to a minimum to respect Aboriginal belief that the Dreamtime Creation Serpent lived here after carving its way from the Pilbara coast. The signs educating people about this were removed after the boardwalk was burnt down a few years ago. The swim over to the waterfall is quite easy and worth the experience of sitting under the cool waterfall surrounded by the ferns that give this place its name. #redsandscampers #karijini #dreamtime #exploringaustralia #thisiswa #wanderoutyonder #epicpilbara

20.01.2022 Getting ready for beachside dining. By moonlight! atanui_expeditions (IG)- many thanks to our wonderful client for sharing this photo.

19.01.2022 Day 3 Dirk Hartog Island Taking our time to pack up, we mulled over what to explore next on the Island. We collectively agreed we felt like getting some sand between our toes and opted for a day at the beach. So back over to the east coast to check out Sandy Point. Here we spent a day fishing, swimming and cooking up our freshly caught Flathead for lunch, along with a scrummy gumbo. This place felt so calm and relaxing, so we set up the camper for the night and settled in for yet another calming sunset. Having a completely remote camping unit certainly has its perks. Holiday vibes-a-plenty by the end of this day! #familytime #bluesky #remotecamping #4wdlife #sandbetweenyourtoes @ Dirk Hartog Island

18.01.2022 The best way to see the mighty Ord River with Triple J Tours #ordsome

13.01.2022 Day 12 - Cape Arid National Park to Kalgoorlie (approx. 490 km) We would love to stay at Cape Arid for a few days, but the open road is beckoning! Next stop is Kalgoorlie, which is home to one of Australia's largest gold mines, the eight-square-kilometer ‘Super Pit’. Take in the view from the lookout and you will appreciate just how huge this pit is. Big enough to consume all of Uluru! If that does not tickle your fancy then you can learn the ABC of gold washing and visit ab...andoned gold mining towns along the iconic #GoldenQuestDiscoveryTrail. A fantastic way to see the best of 'Kal' is to hop on the Tram Tour (book through the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Visitor Centre ). This will take you to all the great spots along the #GoldenMile. @wanderingschuncki (IG) (1); Jarrad Seng (2 to 4) #redsandscampers #superpit #visitkalgoorlie #australiasgoldenoutback #wanderoutyonder #thisiswa #seeaustralia #wanderfar

12.01.2022 Day 4 Dirk Hartog Island A trip to this Island paradise isnt complete without a visit to Turtle Bay. Voted WAs best remote beach in 2018, its hard to describe just how wild, yet divine this beach is. From the lookout, you need to hop out of your car and walk down the old rail path a short way to really soak in its beauty. From here you are perched high on the orange-red cliffs, which plunge down onto the soft white contrasting sand and crystal clear water. The ocean wa...s super calm when we visited and the tide was retreating, revealing fresh turtle tracks leading up to the edge of the cliff face. A truly amazing sight. We ended this day by heading back to the Homestead Campground for a well needed shower and freshen up! #wildandbeautiful #remotebeaches #adventureyourway #wanderoutyonder #beachparadise #conserveturtles @ Dirk Hartog Island

12.01.2022 The stunning Shark Bay Region, perfectly captured by @Kyle.Bowman (IG). Our guests always love visiting the Francois Peron National Park with its contrasting colour palette and diversity of wildlife. There are 5 campgrounds in the National Park, all of them cannot be booked in advance and all of them require a 4WD to access. That means first-come, best-dressed. Do you have a favourite campground in the Shark Bay Region? Kyle.Bowman (IG)

12.01.2022 If you have visited our depot in Broome in the past few months you would have certainly bumped into our wonderful Mathias, Broome Depot Manager. Mathias is a true adventurer and loves his camping and 4WDing. He bravely walked into our depot last year looking for some work and it so happened we were about to start looking for someone. As fate would have it Mathias was the perfect fit to our Perth team and agreed to manage Broome for us in this tumultuous COVID year. You have... all certainly kept him busy! Thanks Mathias, you are a hardworking super star!

11.01.2022 If you have ever contacted us via phone or email, there is a good chance you would have spoken to this wonderful human being. Louise is our Reservations Manager and is celebrating a significant birthday today! However, unfortunately Lou can only celebrate at home, as she lives in Melbourne and is stuck in lockdown. Not the best way to celebrate a significant birthday, but the whole RedSands team wishes you the happiest of birthdays. You are a treasure to our team and we ho...pe you can find a way to make your birthday special. Happy, happy Birthday Lou! #lockdownbirthday #teamtreasure

11.01.2022 Getting up at 4:45am is not a chore when you know you have a scenic flight over the Ord River and the Bungle Bungles Ranges to look forward to! Having experienced Purnululu by road the past few days, it gave us a totally different perspective of the Range. It is not what you expect from above. Much of the Bungle Bungles Range is flat on top and is surprisingly large. In fact, #purnululunationalpark is bigger than the land area of the Australian Capital Territory, so a sceni...c flight gets a big thumbs up if you want to really take in its expanse. Our pilot and guide Reece from @aviairwa was expertly skilled in handling the Cessna Caravan and knew so much about the region. We not only took in the Purnululu World Heritage Area, but also soaked up Lake Kununurra, the Upper Ord River, Lake Argyle, Osmond Ranges and Argyle Diamond Mine. What a morning! #purnululunationalpark #lakeargyle #kimberley #scenicflight #kununurra

10.01.2022 When was the last time you REALLY look at the Milky Way? Have you ever spotted the emu that stretches across the Milky Way? The emu is important to Aboriginal people and is prominent in Dreamtime storytelling, as the emu was a creator spirit, looking over the land. Aboriginal astronomy is fascinating and well worth researching. Youll never look at the stars the same way again. @manuelgussmann #yourewelcome #milkyway #dreamtime #stargazing #ourculture #wanderfar #wanderoutyonder #4wdcamper

10.01.2022 Days 14 to 16 - Broome Kimberley calling! The Kimberley is like our second home. There is something very magical and alluring about the orche sands, turquoise waters and endless sky of the Kimberley. One of our favourite places in WA is the Eastern Kimberley, but due to work and school commitments (reality), we only reached Broome on this trip. That said, Broome has a wanderlust about it that sucks people in from far and wide. It is remote, stunning and perfect if you lov...e great food, swimming, beach BBQs, fishing, long beach walks and life! We spent 4 nights in Broome catching up with friends and doing some work, but there was plenty of relaxing and eating going on. A highlight for all of us was Greg Quickes Astro Tours. Even our teenage sons were captivated with the way Greg (aka Space Gandalf) describes our relationship with our own planet, the sun and our solar system. Its a more universal and connected way of thinking and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Fun fact there is an emu in the Milky Way Galaxy. So thats it peeps! We hope you have enjoyed following our Perth to Broome adventures. Hopefully it has either brought back some memories of your own trip, or encouraged you to start planning your own adventure.

09.01.2022 Happiest of birthdays to Lucy! Lucy is the one who writes all the awesome social media posts (except this one) and tells the stories about the sensational places to visit in Australia. Not only is Lucy a passionate adventurer and storyteller, she is a very talented environmental scientist, an amazing mum and the best life partner I could ever wish for. ... Happy birthday Lu, and thank you for everything you do - Adam

09.01.2022 Smiles all around for the Waldis family, who took camper Rose on an outback adventure last year. When past clients email us to share photos and stories of how great their holidays were, it makes us so happy and so proud that we helped create some magical memories. Christina Waldis (Thank you so much for sharing!)

08.01.2022 Day 14 - Lake Ballard to Hyden (via Kalgoorlie) (approx. 569 km). The #RoadTrip continues to the largest wave in Australia: the 15 m high and 110 m long granite ‘Wave Rock’ near #Hyden. This 2.7 billion year old rock can be climed or surfed . There are more rocky waves in the area such as the #MulkasCave, where you can visit ancient Aboriginal #RockArt and #Hipposyawn. ... You can also go to the Wave Rock Wildlife Park (they have albino kangaroos!) or the Wave Rock Salt Baths. So cool! @wanderingschuncki (1) (IG); Jarrad Seng (2 to 4) #redsandscampers #waverock #waverocksaltbaths #australiasgoldenoutback #wanderoutyonder #outbackwa #thisiswa #seeaustralia #wanderfar

08.01.2022 360 millions years of geological perfection. There is so much to love about Purnululu National Park. It is vast, bewitching and like no other place on earth. We spent two days exploring the park, but you could easily spend a few more if you wanted to see everything. We have camped at Walardi Campground before, and our pick of sites are anything in the Quiet Camp (sites 1-23, although 16-18 are next to the river bed if thats your preference) and 31 (generator site, but righ...t up the end and next to the river bed). This time we stayed at Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge which was a treat as it has a pool (only one in the park and much appreciated due to the heat!), superb meals and is close to Cathedral Gorge, which we wanted to reach early in the day. The best word of advice we have for Cathedral Gorge is get there early as the sun rises. We have been extremely lucky to have it to ourselves each time we have visited and it makes a MASSIVE difference to the experience. Due to the natural amphitheatre and cavernous nature of the gorge, it echoes a lot. On the flipside, it can be very quiet if you have it to yourself and take the time to absorb the silence. How much real silence do we get these days? This place is still one of our favourite places anywhere in the world.

08.01.2022 Days 12 to 13 Karijini to Pardoo Station After we left Karijini, we headed north again via Port Hedland. This drive is one of the best in the Pilbara, if not WA. The Great Northern Highway scoots around the edge of #karijininationalpark with all of its rugged breakaways, spinifex adorned hills and interesting hidden caves. There arent many places to stop unfortunately but its worth soaking in the magnificent scenery. At Port Hedland we did the obligatory fill up of the l...ong range fuel tanks and legged it up to Pardoo Station where we stayed one night. The mud crabbing here is apparently brilliant, but we just soaked in the sunset before having an early night to get to Broome at a decent time the following day. There are a few places to stay between Karijini and Broome. Barnhill Station is another favourite for our guests, and is a destination in its own right. It is a bit closer to Broome, so is about a 9 hour drive from Karijini. Another option is Eighty Mile Beach Caravan Park, which is about a 6 hour drive from Karijini. They all have long beautiful beaches and good facilities. It is worth checking them out online to see what suits you best. Just bear in mind some of them are more your traditional caravan park, so you will be closer to your neighbour than at Karijini. Unfortunately we had a very loud neighbour who kept us awake until curfew time (10pm), but they were quick to quieten down when we politely asked! #redsandscampers #wanderoutyonder #waroadtrip

08.01.2022 YES!! The Kimberley is opening up from tomorrow! Are you ready for a Kimberley road trip?

07.01.2022 Day 2 Dirk Hartog Island The sunrise at Dirk Hartog Island is unique for Western Australia. It is one of the few places where you can soak in the sunrise glow over water. The massive expanse of Shark Bay provides the perfect stage to crawl out of your roof top tent and soak in a brand new day, wondering what adventures lie ahead. We havent set foot on this Island for over 26 years and have never ventured here with our sons, so we knew we were in for some fun. We primaril...y explored the west coast on our first day. The rugged cliffs of Quoin Head draw you in with their feverous roar as they smash against the cliffs in apparent fury. We swam in a temporary rockpool (more like a lake due to its size!) perched high on the cliffs, a result of recent storm activity. We ended up camping nearby on the cliffs and watched the sun soak slowly into the Indian Ocean. #redsandscampers #dirkhartogisland #australiascoralcoast #sunriseoverocean #sunsetoverocean #wildandbeautiful #4wdcamping @ Dirk Hartog Island See more

07.01.2022 Every few years Adam and I schedule in a sneaky little getaway for just the two of us. A bit of us time in the midst of the chaos of running businesses and raising our beautiful young men. This year we chose one of our favourite places on this planet, the Eastern Kimberley. Currently the end of the culdesac for WA travel due to the hard border closure, and one of the worst affected regions for tourism impacts due to COVID as the season has only been a few months long. If ...youre an Aussie and havent visited or havent been in a while, do yourself a massive favour and change that next year. Itll be one of your most memorable holidays in a long time. On this (relatively short) trip, we are visiting our favourite haunts and trying out some new experiences. Join us over the next week as we share them with you! #kimberleylove #easternkimberley #wanderoutyonder #4WDcamping

07.01.2022 Did someone say Pink Gin? Goes well with Argyle pink diamonds from Kimberley Fine Diamonds apparently A must visit when in Kununurra.

06.01.2022 Day 11 - Cape Le Grand National Park to Cape Arid National Park (~110 km) Ok, now pay attention lovely people as this place is one of our personal favourite spots in WA! If you like the idea of driving your RedSands #4WD Camper along endless white beaches, beautiful coastal landscapes of granite cliffs, sand dunes and #Camping under a starry night sky, you should not miss Cape Arid National Park. ... Check out Yokinup Mia Mia Campground this is our favourite place to stay, but there are plenty of other choices across this beautiful landscape. Just do your homework though as there are some pretty gnarly 4WD tracks further into the National Park that should only be tackled by experienced 4WD'ers and with multiple vehicles. We've heard of plenty of stories about people getting stuck on the salt pans or tight tracks after rains. @wanderingschuncki (1 & 2) ; 3 & 4 (Sands Family)

06.01.2022 Day 5 Dirk Hartog Island After a few days of solid 4WDing, we felt the need to just plonk ourselves and relax. Plus, we had a little work to do from the camp office. Our sons took advantage of the free kayaks and stand-up paddleboards and explored the bay, which is teeming with marine life. Our trip to Dirk Hartog was wrapped up by having drinks, sharing camp stories with new found friends at the Cape Inscription Bar. What a location for a bar! ... #sunsetbar #wanderoutyonder #4wdadventure #officeofeverywhere #chilldays #lovinlife @ Dirk Hartog Island See more

06.01.2022 Northern campgrounds during July school holidays We are finding that Western Australians are keen to head north during the coming school holidays to get some warmth on their bones (and why wouldnt you?!). However, that also means many campgrounds will be busy. Here is the latest advice on northern campgrounds for those of you still wanting to book a trip in July. Remember, our campers are completely self-sufficient, so you do not need to rely on electricity from caravan ...Continue reading

05.01.2022 Theres no region like the Eastern Kimberley for its natural beauty and stunning landscapes, and during the COVID pandemic, there is no other region that has hurt as much, through lack of visitation, than Kununurra and surrounds. Im lucky enough to be joining a contingent of Western Australian business and tourism leaders to perform an SOS - Save our Season on the eastern Kimberley region for the next two days. Wish us (or Kununurra) luck ~Adam

05.01.2022 Here at RedSands Campers we are lucky to be surrounded by a talented team. Our wonderful Wayne Maggs has prepared this tour for you that highlights why our fully-equipped and custom-designed campers are so easy and comfortable to use. Hassle free camping - the way we like it https://youtu.be/G5hqPGL9oaM

04.01.2022 For the next few weeks, we will be sharing with you our own family road trip. We will be travelling from Perth to Broome, visiting some of our favourite (and new) places along the way. Ordinarily we would never be travelling in our own campers during July, as they are all booked out a year or so in advance. However, 2020 is not an ordinary year for anyone, and we thought we might as well experience what its like to #wanderoutyonder during the Australian winter! Day 1 P...erth to @dirkhartogisland OK, so one thing you need to know is we are a little hardcore when it comes to travelling long distances. There are plenty of places to stop and enjoy on the way up to #australiascoralcoast but we have a Formula One approach to pit stops. In, out and back in as quick as you can. We left Perth at 4:30am and reached the Island around 3:30pm. Luckily, Kieran was waiting for us, so we literally drove the camper straight onto the barge and set up camp in the Dirk Hartog Lodge campground well in time before sunset. #adventurewa #traveldiary #wishyouwerehere #redsandscampers #familyroadtrip See more

04.01.2022 Day 15 - Hyden to Perth (~ 335 km) The final leg of our #southwestedge road trip is a four to five hour drive back to #Perth. From #LakeMagic near #Hyden, the landscape changes from golden wheat fields to rolling green hills. Make sure you stop off at some of the gorgeous towns on the way, like Kokerbin, Quairading and Corrigin. You'll be surprised at the Aboriginal and Pioneering history out there!... Our hometown of Perth has changed a lot over the past decade. It is a great place to live (and visit!) if you like electric blue swimming beaches, a metropolis of small bars, creative restaurants, curated street art and great neighbours. We hope you have enjoyed our South West Edge road trip over the past few weeks. A massive thank you to @wanderingschuncki for all of his input into this itinerary. Don't forget, if you want a copy for future reference (and more great ideas), you can grab it from our website- https://www.redsandscampers.com/now-is-the-time-to-experie/ @wanderingschuncki (IG) (1); Jarrad Seng Photography (2 & 3)

04.01.2022 What is better than a RedSands Camper? Two RedSands Campers of course! If you are thinking of travelling with family or friends either now (if you can) or later, then hiring multiple campers is becoming a popular option. Its a great way to have your own space but also enjoy the whole experience of getting off the beaten track and experiencing nature together. Freiseindesign

03.01.2022 Day 9 - Cheela Plains Station Stay From one station stay to another, we left the Exmouth region and headed inland. Cheela Plains Station Stay is a perfect stop along the Warlu Way, breaking up the journey and offering up some of its own hidden wonders. Take the time to enjoy Mussel Pool on the self-drive Beasley River gorge tour, or indulge in one of their delicious dinners or scrumptious breakfast. Hosts Les and Louise and station owners Evan and Robin are all lovely and... will welcome you to their little part of the #epicpilbara. If you would like to know more about the Warlu Way, or path of the Dreamtime sea serpent, visit https://www.australiasnorthwest.com/warlu-way It is worth doing some research into all or part of this self-drive journey which traverses an ancient and sacred land rich in natural beauty and enchanting Aboriginal stories. #warluway #redsandscampers #glamping #sunset #pilbara #reddirtcountry #supportlocal @ Paraburdoo, Western Australia

02.01.2022 Day 13 - Kalgoorlie to Lake Ballard (approx. 180km). About 130 km from Kalgoorlie you will reach the cute little historic town of #Menzies, where you can stop off when heading to Lake Ballard (another 51 km). Here, in the middle of the huge #SaltLake of Lake Ballard, you can admire the exhibition Inside Australia by #AntonyGormley. Situated over a ten-square-kilometer area are 51 incredible sculptures, which represent the residents of Menzies. ... This unique place also has an incredible Dreamtime story. You may have heard about the Seven Sisters, an open star cluster also known as the Pleiades constellation, best seen this time of year in the Southern Hemisphere. The Dreamtime story is that the seven sisters were travelling across the night sky and saw Lake Ballard’s glittering white surface. They decided to go down and play on the lake. Whilst they were there, a man appeared and started chasing the youngest sister. The sisters fled, and the small islands represent each of them and their hiding places. The great thing about this place is that you can freely camp in the designated camping area. Please note there is no drinking water, so you do need to bring sufficient supplies with you. Not a problem when you are in a RedSands! @wanderingschuncki (IG) (1); Jarrad Seng Photography (2 to 4) #redsandscampers #lakeballard #insideaustralia #australiasgoldenoutback #wanderoutyonder #thisiswa #seeaustralia #wanderfar

01.01.2022 Day 8 - Bullara , Exmouth We always like to try out new tourism experiences, and although we have been to Bullara Station Stay before, we had never stayed in a glamping tent anywhere. Weve seen the gorgeous tents from @soul_camping , and wanted to try them out but when we booked Bullara, the tents were already fully booked. However, as luck would have it, Bullara had a cancellation the day we arrived and here was our chance! They were comfortable, very spacious and had tha...t promise of glam! If you have been lucky enough to stay at Bullara, you would know their team is A-mazing! Such a friendly team, led by the gorgeous Edwina. The Bullara experience is quintessential Australiana, and people are flocking there as word is out just how good this place is. This is a favourite spot for our clients, who always rave about it and its perfectly located between Coral Bay and Exmouth, but away from the crazy crowds. Tip make sure you try their light fluffy scones in the mornings, try out the campfire damper, indulge in an outdoor bush shower or tuck into a burger when they run burger nights. You wont be disppappointed! Thanks again Bullara! #aussieexperience #stationstay #glamping #wanderoutyonder @ Bullara Station Stay
