09.05.2022 WIth all the controversy over the Oscars last night -- I thought perhaps I should send the members of the Academy (and Chris Rock) my books!! What do you think?? ; ) Anyway, I thought it timely that I received a copy of letter from father to daughter sent in 1914. It is beautifully written and poignant. Here is an extract from my favourite paragraph. 'You will meet, of course, curious little annoyances. People will wonder at your dear brown and the sweet crinkley hair.... But that simply is of no importance and will soon be forgotten. Remember that most folk laugh at anything unusual, whether it is beautiful, fine or not. You, however, must not laugh at yourself. You must know that brown is as pretty as white or prettier and crinkley hair as straight even though it is harder to comb. The main thing is the YOU beneath the clothes and skin the ability to do, the will to conquer, the determination to understand and know this great, wonderful, curious world. 18.04.2022 Is it worth it? I bumped into two mums this morning and both started their conversation with 'Is it worth it?' They were referring to the juggle of work and looking after children. For both working mums and stay at home mums, the beginning of the school year is a particularly 'crazy' time sorting out where everyone has to be, filling in copious amounts of forms and lets not forget about the covering of books - YAY! So I wish I had the answer (alas I don't) we are all in the same boat. BUT I do have a suggestion ... be kind to yourself - you are amazing!

13.04.2022 I've been on a little bit of a FB holiday with my real-time holiday. I have just came back to my real life which included all things digital and discovered that my Cloud book and Cloud baby all-in-one has been gifted to Kim Kardashian and Kayne Wests newest arrival Saint West. How's that ... (it is cricket season afterall). I feel I need to use a big crazy happy word to describe this but maybe I'm star struck as nothing comes to mind. So instead I'll just say 'WOW'

28.03.2022 Mr Facebook himself Mark Zuckerberg has just had a baby girl - great news! But get out of town he has in his hot little hands a copy of the Unicorn Book and Baby all-in-one. Out of all the celebrities who have been gifted my books this one REALLY REALLY excites me. He is part of the 'Giving Pledge' a group of billionaires promising to give the majority of their wealth to "advancing human potential and promoting equality". A philosophy that resonates with the messages in my books and #redsparrowkids in general. It's all just good stuff and guess what .....his daughter is called Max - a key character in the book who accepts the unicorn for who he is! LOVE IT! GivingPledge.org #markzuckerberg

03.03.2022 For book week I am heading to GOOSH (after school care) on Friday afternoon to talk to the kids about writing a children's book. This will be the first time my children will be present for one of my talks or storytelling sessions. 09.02.2022 I've been a bit quiet on #redsparrowkids FB of late. Amongst others things (like dipping my toes back into the corporate world of marketing but that's a whole other story). I have been doing a little writing and it has been just lovely! Sometimes it's important to take a step back and immerse yourself in what you love even if it's just for yourself i.e. there's not necessarily a book in it. We are such a goal driven society, constantly doing something with an expectation for some kind of result. Children just play and that's what I've been doing with my writing of late, just playing. ps my books were sent to the very brand new and beautiful Princess Charlotte, feeling quite privileged.

25.01.2022 What makes a great life? The Harvard Study of Adult Development has been researching this over 75 years with the same 724 people. In a nutshell it's all about relationships and the quality of these relationships. Good quality, close relationships lead to a happier, healthier, longer life! I found it really interesting that in a recent survey of millennials over 80 percent said their major life goal was to get rich and 50 percent of those same young adults said that another ...major life goal was to become famous. I get it and almost don't blame them; it's everywhere and positioned in such a way that it just looks like a big bubble of happiness. Which brings me to our kids - let's burst that bubble of fake happiness and let our kids know that to be rich is to be rich with love and friendship. To be famous is to be kind and giving to others. This will bring you happiness! I think there might be a book in that!!

23.01.2022 Just wanted to share ...I had the best time on Friday talking to the school kids! We created the most wonderful story thanks to a bongo drum, feather boa and black wig. They were in hysterics! I also hadn't planned on reading my books as I thought the children may be too old for them but they asked me to read them which was so nice! The funniest thing for me though was my middle boy Max who insisted on standing up the front with me the whole time and randomly holding up the books and props (out of context) and answering questions. He then finished with this clanger 'so I'm max from the books and in the book it says my favourite colour is red. Well I thought you should know it's now changed to light green'. #redsparrowkids
