25.01.2022 Happy Friday 13th! Let us know below which unlucky omen you land on. Bad Luck!

25.01.2022 Here’s a little secret You can’t rely on digital ads to get a whole lot of new supporters Often the ads are great, huge click throughs but once they arrive on your website they leave faster than a rocket full of monkeys ... So where it is all going wrong? When we run fundraising audits we often discover digital ads are driving people to an organisation’s website but from this point conversions aren’t happening. If this is the case for you, then you’re close, but you’re missing a piece of the puzzle. That puzzle piece could be: - A disconnect between the ad that brought them to your site and the page they land on. Is the clickthrough taking them to a page on your website that is relevant to the ad that brought them here? - A website that is difficult to navigate in order to complete the purpose of their visit (donate/signup/volunteer)? Is the process to engage them further too hard? Are there too many steps? - Not attracting the right audience. Maybe you don’t know your audience as well as you think. Are the ads attracting people who aren’t suited to your cause? - Not nurturing your leads. Do they browse your site, learn about how you could meet their needs, and like what they see. But they never come back? If you don’t nurture your leads, this is a scenario that’s all too common. - Maybe your landing pages are too long or not long enough? You need to determine how far visitors scroll on your most important pages. Do they even read long enough to discover your most important CTA? There are a number of possible reasons -and they are all pretty common. Start with your analytics and see how long people stay, where they click, where they are dropping off and change up your website functionality and content accordingly. As always, reach out with any questions. See more

24.01.2022 This question refers to your supporters. Not that time you found yourself in the laundry holding a carton of milk Or is it only me this happens to? We have received so many queries asking how to keep supporters longer that we decided to create a Donor Journey Power Series for you all.... Over the next few weeks we will share with you the framework of a proven Donor Journey. This framework will give you an understanding of your supporter's experience with your cause. Your fundraising will become more strategic, cost effective and provide everyone in the fundraising team with a better understanding of what communications are being sent, when and why. By having a framework around your donor journey your supporters will no longer make a gift and then wonder: Why am I here? Our Power Series will start this week and there will be options to access free resources. As always, get in touch if you need fundraising support now #redstonemarketing #socialgood #graphicdesign #design #startupfounder #creativedesign #redstonedesign #fundraising #fundraisingideas #community #fundraisingcampaign #fundraisingtips #charityfundraising #womeninbusiness #forgood #whyamihere #laundrytips #whereisthemilk #supporterjourney #fundraisingconsultant #fundraisingmelbourne See more

16.01.2022 Ok just to clarify this is not in reference to the meaning of life This is the 4th ingredient of the Donor Journey Power Series - Justification of communication pieces. ... In this stage of the Donor Journey you need to determine the *purpose* and *goal* of each donor communication piece. So for every communication you send to donors work out: Why am I sending this? What response do I hope to achieve? What area of the donor pipeline does it fit into: 1 Acquisition? 2 Retention? 3 Development? 4 Reactivation? An example might be: Communication = Newsletter to lapsed donor segment Purpose = Reactivation Goal = Donation If the communication piece does not have a clear donor pipeline *purpose* and a fundraising *goal* then it should be reconsidered or rewritten or redesigned to ensure it has a clear function in the donor pipeline. As always, send through your questions See more

12.01.2022 Psst, want to know the secret ingredient? Ask a dozen fundraisers what the key to retention is and you will most likely get a few different answers.... Interestingly enough though most of them will say: Thank your donors and when you do, don’t ask for another donation! We have 5 key ingredients that combine to make a proven, powerful Donor Journey Map. And none of them have anything to do with being better looking, richer, or smarter than the next charity. Phew! A Donor Journey Map tells the story of your donor’s experience with your cause. The map is designed to identify each donor segment, their interactions and their point of view and feelings. The purpose of a Donor Journey Map is to help your fundraising team understand exactly what a donor will experience. With this knowledge your team can optimise the Donor Journey, which leads to growth in fundraising over time. The 5 essential ingredients to a Donor Journey Map are: 1 Donor Segment 2 Activity/Communications 3 Donor’s feelings towards this activity 4 Justification of communication pieces 5 Communications channel You can see that it isn’t a lot and it isn’t all that new. But it does take some thinking and planning to draw all your fundraising thoughts, ideas and justifications into one document to implement, manage and test. It is best applied to a 12 month plan More to come on these 5 key elements of a donor journey map. Of course if you have any questions get in touch anytime See more

11.01.2022 We are up to the third essential ingredient in our Donor Journey Power Series How do you want your donors to *feel* when they receive your communications? This step is so important because without it you will fall into the old trap of talking up YOUR organisation and all the great work YOU do. But that sounds ok doesn’t it? Isn’t that the point? ... Umm, No. It’s critical to make your communications donor-centric. Donors help make your work happen. Donors give you money. Donors are passionate about the work you do. Donors want to be involved. They deserve to feel involved. This step in the Donor Journey Mapping process focuses your tone, your words and your objective in all your donor communications. Feeling you want your donor to feel are: Interested Inspired Pleased Surprised Delighted Valued Included Appreciated This step is asking you to audit your current communications and identify the feeling the donor will get from receiving it. If it’s not in their interest - change it or drop it. You don’t get too many chances to build rapport with your donors so make sure every touchpoint counts. As always contact with us any questions you may have we enjoy answering them See more

09.01.2022 Not all supporters are created equal Donors who are loyal, or give monthly or frequently to your appeals often receive the same thank yous as your less loyal donors so have you ever thought about recognising these donors special giving *milestones*? Let’s be honest not all donors are created equal, so it is worth celebrating the ones who are always there for you. Here’s how:... Donor birthday call them, send them a birthday card, or a Happy Birthday video from the fundraising team. Fun, simple and thoughtful actions like this go a long way in the relationship. 1yr, 2yrs, 5yrs, 10yrs of giving are you recognising donors in a thoughtful way when they hit major milestones of support? A certificate, a letter from the CEO or a beautiful photo with a handwritten message on the back, make your donors feel valued. Regular Giving Donors that support you monthly year after year deserve recognition. An impact statement with a photo and handwritten note let your donors know how much of an impact they are making to your cause. Volunteers where would you be without them? Host an annual event just for them and spoil them rotten! A Milestone program, or as we like to say a donor love program will ensure that you don’t forget to the ones who are there with you for the long-haul. 08.01.2022 Live with no excuses and travel with no regrets ~ Oscar Wilde How are you? ... I’m not trying to jump the gun but it does seem as though we might be on course for travel opening up again? Travel border bubbles, domestic borders opening, people flying againcan we hope that we may be able to travel again soon? I truly hope so. Travel has the ability to let us feel how big - and small - the world is all at the same time. As Gustave Flaubert said:Travel makes one modest, you see what a tiny place you occupy in the world. But with 2020 being the year of the lockdown our travel has consisted of exercise outings within a 5km radius of home Although our travel dreams are on pause for the moment it doesn’t mean we can’t take our donors on a journey. A Donor Power Journey If you have just arrived to the Donor Journey Power Series posts, head back to Why am I here? to discover how you can improve your Donor Journey so that your supporters love you more and stay with you longer. Also, share with us where you would love to travel when restrictions lift See more
