25.01.2022 Powerhack: Basket Case. A laundry basket is a good way to stack up all your dirty washing during the week to make sure you only wash full loads. Washing small loads uses the same electricity as a full load, so stack up your dirty laundry for a full load. If your machine has an energy saving option, try it out for extra savings on your energy bill.
25.01.2022 Powerhack: Playing it cool. Nifty trick. Position your fan near an open door or window for an extra fan-tastic cooling effect it brings in a sweet breeze to help cool down your place.
24.01.2022 Its time for juice-reducing bragging rights here are the highest scorers in our regions for Fully Loaded so far. How close are you to scoring glory? Keep up the good work!
24.01.2022 Powerhack: Darth Dryer. This evil villain costs you big bucks. If you really do need to use the dryer, make sure you clean the filter regularly. Cleaning the filter not only reduces any fire danger, it also makes your dryer work better to help reduce your power bills.
23.01.2022 Are you one of our Energy Savvy runner-ups? Congratulations to those of you who impressed the Watts with your juice reducing skills, and have all scored a solar lantern. Check your inbox to find out if you're a winner!... We hope this helps you keep up your bill-slashing skills.
21.01.2022 Christmas energy hack #6: Spend time ‘unplugged’ Christmas is a time for friends and family, so make sure you take the time to unplug and spend some good quality time together! Whether you choose to head outdoors and enjoy the summer or fancy a night at home, there are plenty of things you can do without using energy. Don’t forget to unplug televisions and computers from the wall socket when enjoying your time unplugged, as electrical goods kept on standby still drain electricity.
21.01.2022 Energy Quest: Shower Ballad. It's time to 'come clean' on your fave shower boogies and reduce your energy bill at the same time. Share your best 4 min tune in the comments below. Your quest is to find the perfect shower tune to kickstart your day - Make it 4 minutes long (give or take), put it on, jump in the shower and dance up a storm. By the time it's done, you should be too! You will be in a great mood to take on the day and your wallet will thank you.
21.01.2022 Powerhack: Too cool for school. Did you know that setting the aircon to icy when you get home doesnt cool the house any faster, it just uses more energy? Try opening a window to flush out the warm air before you reach for the aircon. If there is no breeze outside to flush out the hot air, try building your patience skills to help save some cash on your bill instead. Sounds like a winner!
20.01.2022 To help you slash your energy bills this week we have developed the ultimate trifecta of tips to keep you on track to reducing your juice. 1. Always wash your dirty clothes in cold water (hot water shrinks them anyway) 2. Darth dryer is totally lame - hang up your threads on a clothes line instead 3. Put all your washing in the running at once - save cash by saving up your washing for full loads... We're not kiddin' around, this is the safest bet for saving money! Don't forget to play at least 10 mins of Fully Loaded before the week's up! http://smarturl.it/play-fb
19.01.2022 Powerhack: Shut it up. In summer when you leave the windows and blinds open, you let the outside temperature heat up your place. Then if you run the aircon, it has to work harder to cool the room, costing you more money on your bill. Closing your windows, curtains and blinds helps act as an insulator and provides the most efficient cooling. Plus, it stops the cool air from escaping.
19.01.2022 Powerhack: Performance boost. Have you cleaned your aircon's filter lately? A build-up of dirt and dust on the filter will use more energy as your aircon works harder to cool the air. Wipe it down gently and clean out all of the dust into your bin, that's all it takes! #protip
17.01.2022 Powerhack. Hanging out. Who needs a dryer when we have the sun's rays? Next time you dry your threads, hang them in the sunshine. Not only will they last longer by staying out of the evil clutches of the dryer, they will also be naturally disenfected by the sun. Play Fully Loaded now: http://smarturl.it/play-fb Watch out for Darth Dryer, hes an energy thief #gameover
16.01.2022 Christmas energy hack #4: Limit the times you open your oven door We know its tempting to keep having a peek at your Christmas cake or roast, but keep the oven door shut as much as you can. Its also a good idea to make large batches of food in advance. Dont put the oven on just to make a few mince pies - stick something else in there with them too.

13.01.2022 In the lead up to Christmas well be sharing some energy hacks to prepare you for the holiday season (without spoiling the fun!) Christmas energy hack #1: Replace your old lights with LED lights The new style of LED lights not only use less energy than traditional bulbs, but theyre brighter, safer, are more eco-friendly and dont get as hot as traditional lights. Whats more, theyre much easier to put up, and dont have the potential of overloading your sockets. And, as they dont have any filaments or glass, theyll last up to ten times longer too!

Dont forget to unplug televisions and computers from the wall socket when enjoying your time unplugged, as electrical goods kept on standby still drain electricity.

10.01.2022 Powerhack: Crease-free kit. Not a morning person? Heres how to remove ironing from your daily routine and grab some extra snooze time. Firstly, its a good idea to pop your clothes on the line as soon as theyre done in the wash. Once your outfits dry, hang it in the bathroom while you take a hot shower. The steam will help get any extra wrinkles out and you didn't have to use the dyer or do ironing!
09.01.2022 Christmas energy hack #4: Limit the times you open your oven door We know it’s tempting to keep having a peek at your Christmas cake or roast, but keep the oven door shut as much as you can. It’s also a good idea to make large batches of food in advance. Don’t put the oven on just to make a few mince pies - stick something else in there with them too.
09.01.2022 Powerhack: Stop. Hanger time. After you get your clothes out of the machine, put your shirts directly on hangers, shape them out and then hang them up to dry. They'll be less wrinkled plus they are ready to go straight back in the cupboard once they are dry.

07.01.2022 Christmas energy hack #5: Defrosting and freezing food Defrost food naturally rather than relying on the microwave or stove to do the job. Cool freshly cooked dishes quickly before freezing. Putting foods that are still warm in the freezer can raise the temperature, causing surrounding frozen items to partially thaw. To prevent this, place food in a shallow, wide container and refrigerate, uncovered, until cool.

04.01.2022 Powerhack: Fan-tastic. Fans rule! Thats because the movement of air actually has a cooling effect. So, next time you want to reach for the aircon remote, try turning on your trusty fan instead to save serious cash on your bill!

01.01.2022 Summer is just around the corner. Take on one of our summer energy quests to keep you (and your electricity bill) cool. Tell us which of the five energy quests you're going to tackle in the comments below! 1. Alfresco: eat outside! Youll soak up some of the suns rays and use Mother Natures natural aircon a breeze. Too easy! 2. Make a splash: use your local swimming pool to cool down and splash around or get a paddle pool instead (great for pets!).... 3. Polar bare: have a cold shower or use your Energy Savvy cooling towel from your welcome pack! It will not only cool you right down, but it will be friendly to your power bill as well. 4. Sprinkle, sprinkle little star: Water your garden and run through the sprinklers at the same time for a 2-in-1 cooling effect. 5. Mystify: recycle an old spray bottle, fill it with water and use it to cool down on a hot and humid day.
01.01.2022 Christmas energy hack #2: Put your lights on a timer While we all love the look of our house when its lit up with sparkling fairy lights, theres no need to leave them on while youre in bed. Choose lights with an automatic timer or buy one separately so theyll switch off after a set number of hours. If youre still using traditional incandescent lights, using a timer will help ensure that you dont run up hefty energy bills.
01.01.2022 Christmas energy hack #3: Use the right sized pans for cooking Theres so much food to prepare at Christmas, its savvy to have a few tips up your sleeve to use less energy. Make sure youre using the right sized pan for the job and the appropriately sized stove-top ring. If the pan is too small for the cooktop ring, thats costing you energy. To further reduce heat loss, keep a lid on those pans.
01.01.2022 Powerhack: Spin class. If you can adjust your washing machine's spin setting, try reducing it to 400rpm. If you can't change the spin setting, try lowering the spin speed by setting it to low or medium. Itll use less energy, plus your clothes will be less creased when theyre all done, which means less ironing time. Bonus. Have you played at least 10 mins of Fully Loaded? Don't forget: http://smarturl.it/play-fb
