25.01.2022 Here's more evidence that keeping WA Safe and Strong is paying dividends through a growing economy.
25.01.2022 Mark McGowan and I really enjoyed our visit to local residents at Tuart Lakes lifestyle village in Baldivis this week. We appreciated the chance to answer questions and chat. The morning tea was pretty good too. ;)
24.01.2022 Established in 2017, the McGowan Government’s RSPCA Pets in Crisis Program helps women and children fleeing domestic violence, by temporarily fostering out their pets while they get back on their feet. We know that some women stay in violent relationships because they can't take their pets with them and fear they'll be hurt or killed. By providing temporary foster care for their pets, we’re providing practical help to support them on their path out of violent relationships.
23.01.2022 Family and domestic violence is an awful reality for too many women and children in WA. It can have serious and ongoing impacts on their health, including physical injuries, poor mental health, reproductive health problems, harm from alcohol or other drugs and - in the most tragic cases - death. That’s why we’re building two new women’s refuges in Perth - in Peel and Kwinana - providing vital specialist services for women and children escaping violence

20.01.2022 LABOR WILL BUILD A POLICE STATION IN BALDIVIS Hi everyone. Premier Mark McGowan joined me in Baldivis today to announce that a re-elected McGowan Government would build a police station in Baldivis to serve the communities of Baldivis, Wellard and surrounding suburbs. ... The $19 million dollar station would accommodate 40 local police officers. I have been advocating directly to the Premier and Police Minister for a local Baldivis Police Station and I am thrilled that they have responded positively. This WA Labor commitment will keep our community safe with a new state of the art station to boost the local response capability of our hardworking police and give them a modern fit for purpose facility in Baldivis.
19.01.2022 WA is ready, willing and able to get on and do this. Let’s create high skilled long term defence industry jobs.
18.01.2022 Need a Justice of the Peace? Our local JP Laurie will be here to sign and witness documents every Wednesday from 3:30-5pm at our office at Baldivis Square No appointments necessary.
17.01.2022 Aussie Day Today we celebrate our nation and those amazing local Aussies who give so much never expecting anything in return. Today the City of Rockingham Local Government presented community Citizen of the Year awards to volunteers who have helped our community for decades. ... At the same time we welcomed 70 new Australians to our community at an Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony. Welcome to you all, including many who call Baldivis home.
16.01.2022 I NEED YOUR HELP TO PROTEST THE CLOSURE OF A LOCAL GP AND WOMEN'S CLINIC Hi everyone, I need your help to protest the closure and demonstrate the need for the continuation of the Woodbridge Family Medical Practice and the Woodbridge Women's Clinic in Cooloongup.... This is a much-used and popular practice that has served generations of women in our area. GPs Dr Edward Bouverie and Dr Nichola Wood ran the clinics for years and believed the new owner would continue services. It’s essential that people in our area have good access to GP and obstetrics services and are not disadvantaged. I have written to Healius the new owner to argue the case to keep the clinics open. I urge you to please sign my petition so we make a strong case to protect local health services, especially for local women and girls. Just click on this link to have your say. Thank you. https://reecewhitby.com.au/woodbridgeclinic/ Woodbridge Family Practice Woodbridge Womens Clinic
15.01.2022 Funded by the State Government and delivered by Communicare, Breathing Space provides a residential service for men who have been violent in family relationships but want to change their ways. Breathing Space provides an opportunity for men to take responsibility for their use of violence and abuse. The program makes the perpetrators of domestic violence accountable for their behaviour and provides the support they need to change. This is good for men who want to change and for the people in their lives
14.01.2022 It’s not just Australia we celebrate today. January 26 is also Republic Day in India Happy Republic Day to all my friends in our local Indian community.
13.01.2022 The McGowan Labor Government is delivering on our commitment to establish two 'one-stop hubs' to make it easier for victims of family and domestic violence to access services. These one-stop hubs will provide a specialist service for women and families experiencing family and domestic violence. They will bring support services together and wrap them around those who need them using a 'one-stop' approach. This model, which is new to WA, will make it easier for women and children impacted by family and domestic violence to get help sooner in a safe space within their own community.

06.01.2022 We have rolled out the $1 million WA Respectful Relationships Teaching Support Program pilot, supporting school staff to teach students about domestic violence prevention By teaching students about healthy and positive relationships and by implementation of a whole-of-school approach to violence prevention, we’re making sure WA students have a better understanding of preventing, identifying and stopping family and domestic violence.
03.01.2022 HOW TO GET YOUR FREE APP TO HELP COVID CONTACT TRACING Hi everyone, Our new online contact register starts this coming Saturday, December 5.... I urge you to download the free SAFEWA app. It's quick and easy. Just follow the link in the Premier's post below. Even I managed to do it. There's also an app for businesses to download. We're keen to keep WA safe by ensuring we have a fast and efficient contact tracing system in place in the event of community infections. You may notice some cafes and restaurants already have the system operating. I did it on the weekend. It was quick and simple. For those of us who don't have a smart phone or prefer old fashion methods, you will also be able to leave your name and contact details on a paper register. Together, we can keep our State safe from COVID and ensure our local businesses stay open.
