22.01.2022 Keep track of your home office expenses and hours worked!! Now more then ever people are having to work from home because of Covid. My advice... the main expenses to keep track of and which will help your Accountant claim your maximum home office expenses.... 1. Internet bills (keep track using a diary for 4 weeks to work out your work vs private %) 2. Stationery expenses ( Ink / Paper etc) 3. Computer expenses (New purchase / Software / hardware) 4. Mobile phone and Home phone expenses (4 week diary dissecting work calls / messages / internet usage from private) 5. Hours worked at home.... Your accountant can use this to work out a claim against your Electricity / Cleaning and Office furniture. There has also been confusing about the two different rates to use for hours worked (52cents and 80cents). Please contact your Accountant and they can help you with this and to work out the best rate to use. HAPPY CLAIMING

22.01.2022 Remember if you lodge your own tax on MyGov it needs to be lodged by the end of October or you may get a fine from the ATO. If you have engaged a tax agent for the first time to complete it please check if they have an extension to lodge your tax after October 31st.
