25.01.2022 Hello everyone, Our new phone number is 08 9661 2667.

24.01.2022 Block building is such an important tool for early learning, allowing children to express themselves in creative and imaginative ways. This week the children at REED Dalwallinu practiced some important skills through block building as they problem solved to stack and balance their towers. We discussed shapes, sizes, colours and patterns within their play and importantly applied effective communication, as they shared ideas, highlighted their creations and added their own personality into each design. We also discovered the colour red is everyone's favourite

23.01.2022 Dear Parents, we are seeking some feedback from you to update our philosophy; thank you in advance for dropping some comments: Our aim at REED Dalwallinu is to provide educative, rich play-based programs appropriate to the developmental needs of the children in our care. Learning experiences created will support the childrens language, cognitive (thinking & processing skills), creative, physical, social and emotional development. Through the provision of a vibrant and flexib...le environment children will be motivated to engage in planned and spontaneous experiences. Our learning environment is also responsive to the childrens interest, needs and abilities whereby children will be encouraged to engage in interactions, risk taking, discovery, connections to nature, conversations, play and collaboration. We embrace Belonging, Being and Becoming and promote the five outcomes in the National Early Years Learning Framework: 1. Children have a strong sense of identity 2. Children are connected with and contribute to their world 3. Children have a strong sense of wellbeing 4. Children are confident and involved learners 5. Children are effective communicators We have a warm, welcoming and safe environment where the children, parents and staffs feel safe. All the people involved directly or indirectly with the clubhouse are treated equally and are highly valued. Each childs social and cultural background is acknowledged and respected. We encourage children to learn to be inclusive and respectful of the values and roles of those in our diverse society and local community. We all collaborate to provide the best possible care and create meaningful learning opportunities for the children. REED Dalwallinu believes that communication between caregivers, staffs and the management committee is extremely essential in providing quality care and running learning program to ensure children are given the opportunity to develop to their full potential. We strongly encourage healthy eating habits and shape childrens appreciation that a healthy diet is important for their wellbeing.

22.01.2022 Today is National Early Childhood Educators Day. Early Childhood Educators' Day recognises and celebrates the work of Australia's educators in early learning services for their wonderful contribution to the wellbeing and healthy development of the young children in their care. It's a chance to say thank you to Australias early childhood educators on a very personal level by service operators, families and their children, as well as collectively at the national level. At REED, our staff are our most important asset - we really appreciate all of their hard work and dedication and today we say thank you. If you can, make sure to thank your childrens carers today.

21.01.2022 National Science Week 2020 This year's theme is Deep Blue: innovations for the future of our oceans and features the establishment of the Blue Economy CRC. At REED Dalwallinu, we have explored the theme through various meaningful activities like mixing blue food colouring with water, creating our coral reefs with salt dough and baking it, expressing our creativity by painting our oceans and doing animal printing with wooden sea animals, talking about the anim...als that live in our ocean, rescuing the sea animals from trash in the ocean. Our little scientists requested for a volcano and we also explored food colouring in milk and fake snow.

18.01.2022 Notice to Parents and Carers: Further to the incident at REED Dalwallinu yesterday involving one of our staff members, we have received many calls and emails of support and concern for the injured worker. We thank you all for your thoughts and best wishes, and have passed these onto our staff member who is currently undergoing further assessments at a Perth tertiary hospital. She was visited by REED’s General Manager today.... The safely inspections of the Centre by the Shire of Dalwallinu and REED are continuing. We hope to be in a position to give you more information about the re-opening of the Centre in the coming few days. Thanks again for your support and patience, and please contact Cluster Manager Melissa Elliott should you have any further questions about any of the above.

17.01.2022 We care for our plants. We are growing kale, bokchoy and radish. We take turns to water them.

14.01.2022 The last few weeks have been nothing like we have experienced before, and I know everyone is eager to have some certainty for the coming few months and beyond. ...Today, I can provide details for parents and teachers with regards to the start of Term 2 at WA public schools. The medical advice regarding schools remains clear the risks of COVID-19 transmission at schools is very low. So we have come up with an approach thats consistent with the best health advice at hand for WA. Term Two will start back on Wednesday April 29, the Wednesday after the ANZAC Day long weekend. WA public schools will then be open for all parents and carers who choose to send their children. But for anyone who does not want their children to attend school in person, they can continue learning from home. However, Year 11 and 12 students are strongly encouraged to attend in person given the critical stage they are at in their schooling. For those learning from home, education packages and resources will be provided, as well as online resources where possible. This soft opening is about transitioning students back into our classrooms in a responsible manner, to receive the best education, without risking the health of students, staff or parents. Where schools can provide online support and teaching for students at home, this will be implemented. For those students learning from home, contact by the school will be made each week by phone and/or online and feedback given on work package completion. Parents and carers of children and young people with complex medical needs are encouraged to seek medical advice regarding attendance at school. With regard to safety, schools will implement the following: alternative arrangements as required for vulnerable employees; increased cleaning throughout the day, including high touch surfaces and playground equipment; parents and visitors will drop students at the gate and not enter grounds; additional hygiene measures and social distancing measures; school swimming pools will remain closed; excursions, assemblies, camps and interschool activities will not be conducted; canteens will provide take away services only. Schools can also implement staggered start, break and meal times to reduce contact and close, or practise social distancing in, common areas and staff rooms. Additionally, schools will be able to combine year groups and use alternative locations within the school boundaries to deliver classes. There will be a review of these arrangements in the lead up to week 4 and any adjustments will be made based on health advice and infection trends across the community. Schools will maintain good communication with parents providing up to date information about arrangements. If there are any localised positive COVID-19 cases in schools, the existing health protocols will apply. This includes closing and deep cleaning of the school. The school will reopen once this has occurred and quarantine and self-isolation protocols will be implemented for any close contacts identified through Health Department contact tracing. I want to thank everyone for their patience and hard work over the past few weeks - especially our educators, who have been working so hard to get us ready for term two with the flexibility were going to need.

13.01.2022 At REED Dalwallinu, the children spent National Sorry Day learning about the Rainbow Serpent. The Rainbow Serpent, a powerful, immortal being in Aboriginal culture. The Rainbow Serpent, also known as the Creator, is said to be the giver of life because of its connection to water. The children explored Aboriginal symbols in the sand and spoke about following the footprints in the sand of those who walked before us and leaving footprints for those yet to come. #NRW2020

03.01.2022 Notice to parents/carers: an incident happened at REED Dalwallinu today involving one of our staff members who injured herself in the Centre bathroom, resulting in her needing urgent medical attention. No children witnessed the incident in the bathroom and were under the supervision of another staff member. The injured staff member was transported to the local medical facility, and subsequently transported to Perth for treatment. We are working together with our staff members... at REED Dalwallinu to ensure they are also offered support and guidance after being involved in this work place incident, including the injured worker. We thank parents of the children who were at the Centre who responded so quickly when contacted by REED to come and collect their children. The support you offered the staff, as well as to fellow REED families was much appreciated during this unfortunate event. The REED Dalwallinu Centre is owned by the Shire of Dalwallinu. The Shire will be conducting a safety inspection as soon as possible, and working together with REED to assess the situation. Until the Shire and REED receive the outcome of the inspection, the service at REED Dalwallinu will remain closed. We understand that this is an inconvenience to many of the families who access the Centre, however the safety and well-being of our staff and children is paramount. If your child/ren have additional questions about the incident, or need assistance with child care arrangements please contact Cluster Manager Melissa Elliot via 0447 504 467 or [email protected] We will remain in close contact with all REED Dalwallinu families to keep you updated on the progress of the staff member as well as the outcome of the safety inspection and when it is safe to re-open the Centre.

01.01.2022 What an eventful day we had yesterday! Our gumtrees had cracks on them and they had to be cut down. The children were excited to see the mobile crane parking in the yard. They were fascinated about the chain saw, the crane and the strong man.... After observing the whole process, they had many questions. We read a book about construction and it has a very interesting Fact page. We explored and learned more about the crane, earmuffs, high-visibility jacket, safety glasses. It is a day that they will always remember as the men cut us some wooden logs which we can use to play
