25.01.2022 Today we experimented making volcanos in our play trays! We moulded some sand like a sandcastle, then added some bicarb and poured in vinegar and watched our volcano come alive!!! After we made our volcano, we just loved mixing the wet sand to make all kinds of creations!
25.01.2022 WE ARE OPEN AGAIN NEXT WEDNESDAY!!!! We can’t wait to see you!

23.01.2022 We could hear ‘beep beep beep’ from outside after our rest and imagine our surprise when we raced out to find a truck backing up to the fence full of sand for our sandpit!!!!!!! We loved watching the trailer tip up and the sand slide out and can’t wait for our sandpit to be full again to make sandcastles with!! Thank you to Mark and Jo from Holberton Earthmoving for donating the sand and delivering it. You guys are awesome!!
22.01.2022 Last week we discovered that shells left their prints in our playdough, so we searched the collage trolley for some more things that we thought would make some prints. We found some tiny dinosaurs that left their footprints as they stomped over the playdough!! So this week, we’ve experimented with other things that leave prints.....kitchen rolls, kitchen utensils, our foot prints in paint and our hand prints in salt dough!! We have loved seeing the prints that we leave behind.
19.01.2022 This week we’ve been loving creating in the sandpit. Wednesday we made our own trees using the logs and branches from the Jacaranda tree, Thursday we found the trinkets from our fairy potions so we added those and sparkles to the sandpit and then today the weather rained on us, so we bought the sandpit inside and created with some jars, flowers and of course more sparkles!
19.01.2022 This week we started reading the adapted Aboriginal Dreamtime Story ‘Tiddalick the Frog Who Caused a Flood’ Tiddalick was a greedy frog who drank all the water from the land and didn’t save ANY for anyone else. All of the other animals were thirsty so came up with the good idea to make Tiddalick laugh so they could get their water back! Once Tiddalick laughed, all of the water came out of his stomach and everyone had water again! After we read the story, we painted our own portraits of Tiddalick and also made our own Tiddalicks with dot painting. We are going to use this story and the artworks in our bathrooms to remind our children of the importance of using water wisely so that there is enough water left for everyone to use and enjoy.
16.01.2022 This week we’ve been focusing on Australia! The children have loved the play trays that are set up for them to explore through the day. We’ve got Bluey and her family visiting the beach and a native animal and plant play tray to explore. We’ve also been busy making some Australian animals to display in the Australian Bush which we have loved! While we’ve been making them we’ve been learning about the animals that we are making! Did you know that Emu Dads look after the Emu chicks when they are little? They also like to eat fruits and insects and seeds.
15.01.2022 Its warming up......that only means one thing! WATER PLAY!! Yesterday we were busy digging holes in the sandpit and seeing how much water those holes could hold. ... We talked about how the water felt when we touched it. Our favourite description was ‘the water feels comfortable, like a pillow’.

14.01.2022 This week we’ve been busy painting at the Easels! We’ve used our big easel and the little table top ones aswell as different paints and brushes. Easel painting is great for our development because it helps us..... *build our fine motor skills- we use our smaller muscles to help move the paintbrush from the paint pot to the paper and to help hold the paper still when the pesky wind blows it! ... *build our gross motor skills- we use our BIG muscles in our arms and our chest as we move and paint...up and down, side to side, round and round- it gets those big muscles working! * build our cognitive thinking skills ‘how am I going to get the paint on the paper?’ ‘I wonder what will happen if I mix the yellow paint in with the blue paint?’ *builds our social skills- we work across from one another or beside one another and this is great for some interaction! We can talk about what we’re painting or our younger friends might just be happy standing and watching while we paint, completely absorbing everything that’s going on! *builds our creativity-we are free to create whatever we feel we need to at that point in time.....and then we can come back a little while later and paint something completely different!!! 13.01.2022 Last week was NAIDOC week so we did some simple activities with our little Tigers. There was a small world area to explore, lots of books to read, some sand symbols to create and an Indigenous inspired puzzle to put together! We even had a go at our own Aboriginal paintings using the symbol cards that were in the sand. We learnt that the symbols have their own meanings and that Aboriginal Peoples use the symbols as a way to tell other people their stories.

09.01.2022 Today we used all of the air in our lungs to make bubbles to paint with! Take a deep breath in to fill up our lungs and blow the air down the straw to make bubbles appear!! We thought it was great and loved to see the print the bubbles made when we caught them on our paper!

02.01.2022 It’s that time of the year, but we know exactly what to do if we see a snake to make sure we’re safe..... ‘STAND STILL LIKE A STATUE AND SHOUT FOR HELP!’
01.01.2022 Jaz had her birthday on Monday, so today we baked her a cake! We put the ingredients in the bowl and mixed them with the beaters, put the batter in the cake tin and then got to taste test it (yum !!) before we put it in the oven to cook! After it cooled, we put some icing on it and decorated it with sprinkles! At afternoon tea time, we lit the candles and sang Happy Birthday to Jaz before we got to eat all of the delicious cake with our fruit!!... And the BEST part........we get to make another cake tomorrow because today was Bernadette’s birthday so we will celebrate with her when she’s at daycare with us!
