14.01.2022 Here’s why you should drink coffee... Like everything, nutrition advise is not a one size fits all. The evidence clearly shows benefits, however the evidence is based on a population level and not an individual level. You and you alone are the best judge of how (much) you tolerate coffee and how it affects you. For example, if you’re prone to anxiety or gut symptoms, coffee may exacerbate these and you may be better avoiding it.... The BENEFITS of coffee Unhealthy lifestyle habits, including smoking, drugs, alcohol, processed foods, and not exercising, as well as excess body fat, infection and inflammation... all increase your free radical load. Free radicals cause oxidative stress, which increases your risk for disease and poor well-being.... Phytochemicals help to reduce your oxidative stress and therefore play a very positive role in balancing your health. COFFEE is rich in beneficial phytochemicals, including caffeine, chlorogenic acid and caffeic acid. A number of studies have also revealed that coffee consumption is correlated with a reduced risk of diabetes, obesity, various cancers, Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease. In addition caffeine (from coffee) and its broken down pieces help to improve cognitive function and increase mental alertness. Basically it directs your focus and can keep you more attentive and motivated. 2 before 2 rule... I follow a simple "two before 2" rule. No more than two cups of strong coffee before 2pm. This gives you a good 8 hours for the caffeine to be metabolized in the body before going to bed (if 10pm is your bed time). I also try to have a day here and there off the coffee... this ain’t easy though! #coffee
