25.01.2022 One of the most common situations we come across, when we take on a new client, is a tangle of cables in the communications cabinet/rack. Apart from making it nearly impossible to troubleshoot a networking issue. It makes something as straight forward as moving a device, to a different location in the clients office, a frustrating process. The picture below, is a before and after, of a client's communications rack which we recently completely reorganized. The sad thing is the "Before" picture, is actually after we had completed a lot of clean up, during the install of the new network switch infrastructure a week earlier. You should have seen it before!

24.01.2022 It's the Year of the Phone. Jan/Feb telephony projects underway include; - 3 Clients... - 13 Locations - 165 Handsets/Multiple Fax Gateways/Conference Phones/etc Its going to be a busy couple of weeks Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Back to work I go. AJ

24.01.2022 Given the current advice from Government, we are taking further steps to protect the health of our clients and staff. As such as of today the office will be closed to the public, open by appointment only. Staff will still be working remotely, with phone and remote support as normal. Urgent onsite work can be scheduled, as needed. All going to plan we will reopen the office in a couple of weeks. For any issues please call the office on 1800 733 348, or email [email protected]. Stay safe everyone, and we will all get through this. PS Hopefully the other techs will be a bit more productive then, junior tech in training Max Jervis, asleep on the job this morning.

17.01.2022 After a very busy couple of months, things seem to finally be settling down, a bit. With the consolidation of Cairns Office Machines into Reef IT, we have taken on a heap of great new clients and some great new staff members. Now that we have a bit of breathing room, we have a chance to get back to our marketing revamp, including debuting the new logo. The re-branding has already begun with Design Lab - Cairns starting on the new signage for the cars and the building, and Red Energy Promotions providing some awesome new cards and mouse mats. More to post soon, have a great day. AJ

16.01.2022 Sometimes its nice to just enjoy the little things, like the new car smell. Thanks to Simon, at Smyth Finance, for handling all the commercial loan side of things. All I had to do was sign on the dotted line and drive away.

12.01.2022 Well its been a crazy couple of months. We moved into our new building and merged in another IT company, we have been working with for years, Cairns Office Machines. Along with all the normal fun and games of life in the IT. I hope to be posting more regularly in the future, but for now here are a couple of pictures of life in the trenches. Enjoy your weekend. AJ :)

11.01.2022 We are proud to announce that Reef IT is the first HCN Authorised IT Service Provider in Far North QLD.

08.01.2022 It has certainly been a tough 6 months, with heaps of projects on the go, whilst finalising all varied and unusual jobs with setting up a new office. One week count down to the move and it is all stations go! Bring on the Christmas Holidays. Cheers AJ

08.01.2022 Sometimes in life you just have to appreciate the little things, like a giant bowl of BBQ Pork Noodle Soup after you finally sort out that Secure Certificate issue that has been killing you all week.....

07.01.2022 With the recent increase in aquatic employees, we have had to increase their office space. (Yes that is a Tardis) AJ

06.01.2022 -Spaghetti Cable Syndrome- Something we come across all to often with new clients is Spaghetti Cable Syndrome. Symptoms include using a 5m cable instead of a 0.5m cable because that's all you have in your tool bag. Making sure the jumble of cables is big enough that the door to the network cabinet wont close, and your handy work is on display to anyone that walks by. When unplugging a network cable no longer needed, leave it in the jumble to make it even more of a mess. Th...e before and after picture below is from a recent weekend cleanup we did for a new remote client, makes things a little easier for the staff onsite, if they need to move a phone around. (After re-plugging all those cables I am sure proud of it ) Well back to work everyone, have a great day. AJ and the Team at Reef IT

05.01.2022 After many months searching, and a lot of hard work from everyone involved, We finally have the "keys" to the new office. Construction work has began in earnest and we hope to be moved in, just in time for a Huge Christmas/Office Warming Party in December. Have a great weekend whatever your up to, hopefully it's not construction work like me :). AJ

04.01.2022 Here we have two of the senior team onsite, in all their pale legged glory, fitting out a new server cabinet for a client expansion opening next week. Always glad to be working in the air conditioning on a humid FNQ day. Even if it is a long weekend . Don't worry there was still a fair amount of crying, having to get up at 6am, on a Saturday, on a long weekend, to go to work all day ) The senior team's tears aside, lost productivity is one of the biggest hidden expenses m...ost businesses never consider. Performing a fit out like this, during business hours would have cost the client thousands of dollars in staff interruption, at least. Not to mention impacting on the their ability to give their client's a good customer service experience. If it needs to happen outside of business hours, on a weekend, even on a public holiday, then that is when we will do it. Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend, I going to grab the family and jump in the pool. Glad its not hot Stay Safe, AJ

01.01.2022 So begins the website/social media/marketing revamp. Its been a long time coming. More soon. AJ
