22.01.2022 Will you help us save Reef Watch? For 25 years, Reef Watch SA experts and volunteers have cared for our coasts as one of Australia’s longest-running citizen science programs. But Reef Watch's future is under a cloud.... Over the past few years, funding from traditional sources has dropped massively. So, we are doing something we have never done before - we're asking for your help. Reef Watch has taught a generation of South Australians to study and care for our state’s incredible environment. Now we need your help to make sure it’s here for the next. Donate at www.conservationsa.org.au/reef_watch_appeal

19.01.2022 We are very excited to welcome Janine Baker to our team as Project Officer for Reef Watch SA. Janine Baker (Marine Janine) has worked in marine research for mo...re than 30 years, and has a life-long interest in marine conservation. Over that time, she has worked for government agencies, and completed contracts for universities, research orgarnisations, NGOs, and as a sole trader. Her diverse marine work has included mathematical modelling of fisheries stocks, marine species conservation assessments, surveys of South Australian sea floor cover to 20m deep, field projects on native and introduced marine invertebrates, marine bio-geography, and marine parks research. She has worked intermittently for 15 years on the Dragon Search program, analyzing and mapping community sighting data of seadragons, and reporting results for several States. Janine currently has two part-time careers, one in marine citizen science project management; the other in primary special education. During the past decade, Janine has written various guide books and chapters on the marine fauna and flora of South Australia. She has also delivered marine presentations and workshops to many schools and community venues across SA, from the Eyre Peninsula through to the lower South East. Her favourite marine groups are benthic fishes, and nudibranchs. See more
