25.01.2022 This made me giggle. I was so excited that my scrubby yarn arrived in the mail this morning, and I’ve been itching to get started! Will definitely be trying my hand at crocheting some dish cloths this weekend. If my kids were smaller I would be probably try to contain them like this lady did

23.01.2022 The kids must have been good this year. These elves are tired and off to bed now. Merry Christmas my friends

23.01.2022 I did do a bit of sewing this weekend, but not as much as I had planned because 7 eggs hatched! We have two proud mumma chooks sharing the parenting of the multi coloured chicks . We tried to tag them so we would know which ones are boys and which are girls, but we are not too sure of ourselves so will keep them until the inevitable crowing gives it all away. It’s always exciting to get new members of the family.

21.01.2022 R U OK? So many people are struggling with the world all topsy turvy right now. Your belief in me and all your support has helped me be ok. Can I do anything for you?

21.01.2022 Cannot remember what I’ve shown you and what I haven’t. But here are some of the lovelies that went out prior to Christmas. I’m enjoying my little break but already starting to miss my machines....

20.01.2022 Friday night fun with my new yarn. Cannot wait to try out my new environmentally friendly pot scrubber would anyone be interested if I decided to sell them?

20.01.2022 My goodness this girl has lovely long legs

18.01.2022 Yippee!!! I’m now taking Christmas orders for sleeved zip swimsuits. These are slightly more price-wise than my regular swimsuits because the zips are fiddly.... Size 2-5 $65 Size 6-10 $75 Size 9-14 $85... My fabrics are UPF 50+ and chlorine resistant, so the swimmers are made to last and provide amazing sun protection as well. You can choose from short sleeve or long sleeve, and front zip or back zip (back zip pictured). Lots and lots and lots of prints to choose from (you don’t need to be monochrome like my daughter). Let me know ASAP if you would like to place an order.

18.01.2022 Seems crazy to be making sleeveless items on such a chilly day but there you have it

17.01.2022 Happy new year! I’m about to crack open the bubbly and wave goodbye to 2020. Hope you all enjoy your evening, whether it be in isolation or surrounded by people you love. Cheers to the last day before my exercise regimen starts....

15.01.2022 In my happy place again.

15.01.2022 A little in love with my new toy in future I’ll be buying prettily patterned tissue boxes just so I can upcycle the cardboard rather than tossing it in the recycler.

15.01.2022 Apologies for the delay but it’s difficult to create mask-making time in my busy schedule... Here is another batch of pleated masks made by me, and there are currently multiples of each one. It is first in, best dressed for choice in fabrics. Pattern placement may vary. Please tell me which fabrics you would like and the quantities, and also whether you require post or can collect from my place in Beacon Hill. Please note: If you choose D (the navy floral ones) my daughter... will be making them and she hasn’t quite finished them yet. These pleated masks have 2-layers and there is space for insertion of a filter if you choose. There is a wire nose piece and stretchy ties which can be fastened either behind the ears or behind the head. Sizing: Designed to fit teenagers, women and men (one size fits most). I have a very small number for younger children (fabrics not pictured here) so please let me know if you would like to see the smaller ones. Each mask is $15 and postage (if required) will be additional. If you would prefer to purchase in person and you are local to Sydney’s Northern Beaches, my masks are also stocked at Manly Vale Pharmacy (Manly Vale) and Willow Gift Shop (Collaroy Plateau). Thankyou for choosing to wear a mask.

15.01.2022 Finally found some time to sew today.... and my daughter requested a sewing lesson. Although I would have preferred to have my sewing room to myself, I thought I should seize her enthusiasm. She made 2 pairs of 3/4 leggings and plans to do 2 crop tops to match (another weekend). Well, she actually wants to do the crops tonight but I’ve reached the end of my teaching capabilities for one day. Nice to embrace her creative enthusiasm and spend a lovely arvo with my baby.

14.01.2022 Throwback to 7 years ago when my daughter was teeny tiny. Wanted to say thank you for all your support. I have now sold out of the ex-market stock and my mind is clearer now that they all have new homes. Let’s raise a glass to the weekend and I will get started making some crop tops next week ... Hope the weather is kind to you all!!

13.01.2022 Now that masks are mandatory in indoor settings in greater Sydney, I just wanted to pop in quickly to say that I have a few black masks available for contactless pickup today (in beacon hill) or via post. As we are released from lockdown tonight, I’ll be heading off on my belated holiday so if you would like a mask or two, please let me know ASAP. My handmade masks are 2 layers with ties and are $15 each. If you miss me at home, they can also be purchased from Willow Gifts (C...ollaroy Plateau) or Manly Vale Pharmacy (Manly Vale). I have felt immense frustration being locked down in the northern beaches - not because I am unhappy in my home, but I felt that other people not in our zone (and equally at risk) were given freedoms that I wanted. My heart goes out to my friends in the northern end whose restrictions remain in place and I thank them for keeping to the stay-at-home orders during this time. Christmas/New Year/ Summer is a time for relaxing, not a time for restricting. I didn’t mind our original lockdown period - I think because everyone else was in the same boat. In future I would like to be more compassionate towards those who by no fault of their own, remain in lockdown whilst we are allowed freedom. Stay safe everybody and thankyou for listening.

12.01.2022 Found 4 more of these panels as I was sorting out my sewing room today. EDIT - 3 sold - only 1 left! Happy to make some beautiful butterfly skirts for your little one if you let me know ASAP! Once they are gone I won’t be buying more panels. Waistband will be spandex in the colour of your choice. ... This skirt can be made in size 2-10. Size 2 will be more like a maxi and size 10 knee length due to the size of the printed panel. $40 each plus post

11.01.2022 Trying to concentrate on some reports that I have to write but my mind is elsewhere! So thought I would share some of my recent makes, since I’ve been so lazy on fb lately.

11.01.2022 I keep forgetting to post pics after I sew!!! Wanted to give you a bit of an update re wait times as I have a little bit of a backlog at the moment. I will do all current orders this week or next, and then I will have a little break over the school holidays. Any orders received from now on will go on a list for me to attend to once term 4 starts. Thankyou all for your patience, and for continuing to support me this year. I still love making things for you all

09.01.2022 Made a variety of crops for Beacon Hill Gymnastics - sizes 2-10 will be restocked tomorrow Lucky my daughter has grown a little otherwise there would have been no size 10s left - she tried to commandeer all my ready-made stock but alas they were too small now she is asking me to make her more in a bigger size. Sigh - she is a cheeky monkey

09.01.2022 Love this idea! Spandex wrist bands to use at Nippers to distinguish which kids on the beach are your responsibility! Three fabrics for 3 different groups

09.01.2022 Raced home from work and snuck in a quick sewing session before picking up the kids - feels so good to be organised. Might try to make this a regular thing.

07.01.2022 Late in the year for a New Years resolution I know but it’s 2020 and anything goes I reckon! I have decided to start sewing my own wardrobe, with the aim to eventually only have clothes which I have made. I know this will take many years, as realistically I can probably only make 1-2 items per month in between all my other commitments. So..... if you know of any amazing patterns, please let me know. I’m going to start with the basics: singlets, tanks, t-shirts, skirts and tr...acksuit pants. Then will move onto bigger and better things, with the aim to eventually make my own jeans, coats and shoes. Eek! Wish me luck....

05.01.2022 Yay! Got some sewing done this weekend. Have put a few crop tops at Beacon Hill Gymnastics - all the one fabric but each one looks different depending on the placement of my pattern pieces. I do plan to do more, but unsure if I can get them done before term ends this year. Suddenly realised there are not many weeks of school left.....

05.01.2022 There are a few people loving the bright colours in this velvet

04.01.2022 Trying something new for my re-usable dishcloths. The ones I made before using tulle for scrubbing did not last long. The tulle was great as a gentle scourer and the cloths washed well, however, the tulle broke quite easily. Soooooo I am trying these instead. One is using mandarin bag netting and the other is using orange bag netting. Any other suggestions if these don’t last?

03.01.2022 In light of the renewed restrictions across Sydney, I’m popping my re-usable masks up for sale again. I have plain black ones at the moment, but can make some navy floral ones tonight if there is demand. $15 each with contactless pickup in beacon hill. Just let me know. Stay safe Sydney

01.01.2022 I’m sitting with a scarf and jumper on while the crazy kids are in the water. Tempted to head back and grab my ugg boots but I would hate to get sand in them I love being in my sewing room but it’s even nicer being at the beach - hope you are all finding something nice to do in the school holidays

01.01.2022 Super excited to share my second article, which has been published in One Thimble Grab your copy at a discounted rate today for lots of new patterns and to read my ramblings https://www.onethimble.com.au//one-thimble-issue-26-early/
