17.01.2022 About 4 or 5 years ago, a reflexology research project was done in Perth at Solaris Cancer Care at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, on people having treatment for cancer. The study involved a randomised allocation of people to either the study group, getting a reflexology treatment, or a control group, getting a foot massage, and ran over a few months. The effects were determined by monitoring vital signs and blood results, which were done through the treatment processes. The ...results were persuasive: reflexology had measurable benefits for the patients. Here is a study which is more qualitative in nature, with similar indications. https://research.msu.edu/reflexology-shows-promise-for-tre/

07.01.2022 This what I do every Tuesday at Solariscare Foundation Cancer Support Centres at Sir Charles Gairdener Hospital every Tuesday. It makes e very sad that this service is not available here in Joondalup. A heartwarming TEDx discussion from 2013 'Bringing Humanity to Healthcare', Dr David Joske, SolarisCare WA. Update Oct 2016:... PUBLISHED Nature & Health Magazine (NAH) Feb-Mar 2017 Health Check - Industry News: REFLEXOLOGY RESEARCH - OUTPATIENT CHEMOTHERAPY CLINIC The Reflexology Association of Australia (RAoA) National Conference held in October 2016 provided new information from presenters both nationally and internationally. Current results in one Australian research: FROM an OUTPATIENT CHEMOTHERAPY CLINIC in WA, observations include: white blood cell count rose high enough that chemotherapy could continue; found to be effective for the relief of pain and nausea; reduced toxic reactions; reduced feelings of anxiety. ‘Patients receiving reflexology treatments, integrated with their medical treatment, reported significantly lower levels of depression and high levels of quality of life, immediately and six weeks following treatment. They also reported themes of relaxation, empowerment, social support and hope’ (Dr Anna Pettersen, SOLARISCARE Foundation, presented ‘The development of safe practice guidelines for the use of Reflexology in an outpatient chemotherapy clinic’). The RAoA does not consider reflexology a luxury, but an important part of rehabilitation after injury, illness or surgery and a valued support for people while undertaking medical treatments such as chemotherapy. The RAoA views reflexology as an important part of an individual’s choice on how to best maintain personal health. 05.01.2022 RAoA PROFESSIONAL REFLEXOLOGIST'S CLIENT TESTIMONIAL: AUTOIMMUNE CONDITION When I first had Reflexology, I had been struggling for 9 months to deal with a an ‘undiagnosed illness’ which had seen me in and out of coronary care 5 times, with pericardial effusions (fluid around the sacs of the heart) and what was thought to be some kind of viral vasculitis that resulted in near organ failure. The Reflexologist went to work on my body’s depleted system, giving me much needed sup...Continue reading
