You can learn to r...espond mindfully rather than react instinctively. It requires getting your frontal lobe involved. 08.01.2022 Anxiety can feel exhausting, terrible, and too intrusive for too many of our young ones. We will never get rid of all their anxiety - we need it in some degree ...to warn us of danger and keep us alive - but what we can do, and I know this for certain, is soften its presence and help our cubs feel big enough to move with it. One of the most powerful ways to do this is to change their relationship with anxiety, from anxiety being a brutal beast of a thing (even though that’s how it feels sometimes), to anxiety being their fierce protector - one that will fight with warrior daring to keep them safe, but sometimes too much when it doesn’t need to. This is why I wrote ‘Hey Warrior’ - because when we change the story about anxiety, we can change their response. Then, we add in strategies and information, and we shift their focus from the ‘threats’ to the important, meaningful things that anxiety is getting in the way of. We build them big, so they can feel mighty enough in its presence - anxious AND mighty enough to move forwards, little step by little step. See more
