25.01.2022 So in my time off I dabbled in gardening & look at what ‘I’ (aka the previous owners) grew #takingcredit #greenthumb(not) #sodowntome

25.01.2022 Hi all. I just wanted to highlight my latest consent process. During my time off I have tweaked it again. Again, this is required during the covid-19 pandemic & will continue into our ‘new normal’. It’s super easy & user friendly. When you book online (my preferred method), you will receive the following included in your booking email: a pre-treatment questionnaire, a covid-19 screening questionnaire & a list of consent forms. These forms are also attached to your booking r...eminder email sent 2 days prior to your appointment (if you can’t find your original email). Simply click on each link, complete & electronically sign using your phone. You only need to sign the consent form relevant to your treatment on the day. Your pretreatment form only ever needs to be completed once. Your covid screening must be done each & every attendance. Every single person is required to complete these documents, even if you are a long term client. Your information is directly stored in your medical file on a private secure server for me to review. You will still have time to ask questions about your procedure on the day & we will review all the major points verbally. #consentsmadeeasy #finally! #drjodie #surreyhills #melbourne See more

24.01.2022 What to do on a beautiful Sunday afternoon? Spend it enjoying the ‘pearls’ of the Aesthetics Lip Show, of course! I love watching & learning how different injectors from all over the world approach their lip treatments. It is so important to stay current & continue your education, regardless of how many years you have been practicing. Thank you @aestheticsau. #keeplearning #lips #techniques #aestheticsaulipshow

22.01.2022 Many thanks to my kind hearted client for this wonderful surprise, helping me with my weight management. Haha. What a lovely gift! #generosity #thankyou #’mybestclient’

20.01.2022 A reminder of how amazing Melbourne is ... . Whether we agree or disagree about the right way forward, let’s support one another as best we can. There is understandably a lot of frustration & tension, but hopefully we can come out of this intact. For now, let’s appreciate the city we live in (or at least the nearest 5km ). I am thinking of you all! Stay safe, stay well, stay sane. Xx. (Pictures from @humansinmelbourne)

17.01.2022 These products have saved my skin this winter. Stuck indoors with continuous heating has left my skin feeling very dry. Changing my cleanser from my foaming cleanser to the more creamy daily cleanser has made a huge difference. It’s really important that your cleanser does not strip your skin of it’s natural moisturising factors (NMFs), especially if you tend to suffer from dry skin. Regular use of B3 & B5 serums, which aid oil control, stimulate barrier lipids & have anti-ox...idant & anti-inflammatory effects, has also helped. The moisturiser with SPF has been a constant fave of mine (not too heavy, not too light), but adding the hydration booster, with it’s various naturally derived emollients, humectants, etc (that truly smell divine), has allowed me to improve hydration without getting acne. I was pleasantly surprised at this, as I have troublesome skin that tends towards both dryness & acne. Although this trial is n=1, patient satisfaction is super high . So despite our lack of access to injectables, this is a simple reminder that we can all still keep a regular skin care regime that enhances the quality of our skin & aids skin barrier repair. Don’t be scared to adjust your routine, based on your unique skin needs with changes in your environment. #skincare #justasimportant #takecareofyourskinalways @theskincarecompany See more

16.01.2022 You will never find two cosmetic doctors that inject exactly the same way. And that is fabulous, as it allows for choice & for you to find the clinician that is right for you, who can meet your values & expectations. So here is my approach to cosmetic injectable ... * You look great as you are - my goal is simply to ‘tweak’ your face so you still look like you, just a little fresher. I don’t want you to look like a different person. I just want you to feel more confident with...Continue reading

15.01.2022 Did you know it’s ‘Be Kind To Animals’ week? For those of you who know me, you know I love animals, all animals. . These are some of my favourite charities I like to support nationally & internationally that do amazing things for animals. It is very easy (& understandable & normal) to get caught up in our own life & troubles, & forget about issues of neglect, exploitation & cruelty facing others, human & non-human. This is a fantastic week to do something kind for the other species that inhabit our planet. It might be as simple as donating your coffee money for a day, or eating more plant based meals, or taking your neighbour’s dog for a walk & a pat, or even volunteering (although difficult in Victoria during COVID I know). In a world where we can be anything (almost), let’s choose to be kind. #bekindtoanimals # #

14.01.2022 The average teaspoon in Australia holds approximately 5mls. This simple fact is a good way to put your dermal filler needs into perspective. A teaspoon of dermal filler spread throughout your entire face is really not a lot. It’s poorly placed dermal filler or the wrong filler choices that make people look weird. Again, don’t get scared if you trust your injector’s aesthetic eye & skillset. The amount of dermal filler you need is what you need to get the desired result. It’s not possible to create a look that requires 5mls with only 1ml. Having said that, we are all works in progress & it’s perfectly fine to take it slow, as long as your expectations are in alignment with your preferred approach. #dermalfiller #perspective #expectations

13.01.2022 Don’t ever believe that all dermal fillers are built the same. It is simply not true. Different types are made with different technology & display different gel characteristics, which is knowledge we can use when treatment planning. Some are firm gels designed to give structure to your face, like the first type depicted in this video. These are fantastic for jawline & chin definition & even outer cheek definition. They have targeted integration, which means they stay where th...ey are put, & they resist deformation, so they give strength to a structure. Others are softer, more flexible gels, that are used to style the soft curves of the face, like the second type depicted in this video. These are designed for dynamic areas of your face, such as your lips, around your mouth or even your inner cheeks, so they are not obvious with facial movement. They have diffuse integration, which means they blend or integrate better with your own tissue, which is perfect for volumisation. An injector who understands these differences is more able to prescribe a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs. *Video (modified) intellectual property of Galderma. #dermalfillers #rheology #builtdifferently #notthesame #firmfillers #softfillers #knowwhatyouneed See more

11.01.2022 Forehead line treatments seem simple but may be more complicated than you think! * Anti wrinkle injections (AWI) relax the forehead muscle to stop horizontal skin bunching & soften lines * I prefer to scatter AWI rather than use a V-shaped pattern or you risk excessive lines above your outer brow * But treatment above your outer brow can risk brow droop - it’s a balancing act! * Your forehead muscle is the only muscle holding up your brow - so a small amount of brow lowering ...is inevitable, but usually not noticeable * But if you are an avid eyebrow raiser, you are at greater risk of a noticeable brow droop with treatment! This is a trap for newbie injectors! * To counteract this risk, I relax your frown at the same time, as this can create brow lift - essentially cancelling out the brow heaviness (but not always) * It takes time & practice (& good technique) to understand who will droop & who will not! * Age-related forehead volume loss (bone & soft tissue) may complicate AWI-related risk of droop & should be addressed with dermal filler before AWI * An ‘unsupported’ volume depleted forehead works harder to hold up your brow & is more active with more lines - deeply placed dermal filler to forehead hollows will support your muscle to function better & will help to smooth out your lines even without AWI (myomodulation) * BUT forehead filler carries a risk of blindness - so chose an experienced injector * Filler can also be used to directly treat the lines themselves very superficially if repeated AWI need a helping hand - this can hurt & may bruise - so time your treatment well * AWI lasts 2-3 months, dermal filler 6-12 months #foreheadlines #drjodie #melbourne See more

11.01.2022 How beautiful are these? I have just ordered them for the clinic from @everbloome. So pretty. #supportlocalbusiness

10.01.2022 Hi all. When booking an appointment, I would hugely appreciate it if you could use my online booking system via my website. Please also direct all inquiries to my email [email protected], rather than call or text or message via social media. I am also trialling some assistance with admin so I will not personally be on the other end of the phone (but I am definitely here for you in the event of any treatment concerns!). Anyone who would like to go on a wait list for an earlier appointment please also email me & include your availability. Many thanks, Dr. Jodie.

10.01.2022 No one is perfect. Give yourself (& others) a break. We are all doing our best. We are all human. #justbe #nojudgement #noshame

09.01.2022 Please excuse the quality of these photos, but this is a reminder of the importance of good facial structure. Age-related loss of structural support through normal bony breakdown & soft tissue changes will lead to volume loss or shifts that result in facial sag, as seen in the before picture here. By restoring the structure of your face with the appropriate choice of dermal fillers, we can recreate the scaffolding that supports your soft tissues & restores your facial proport...ions & shape, as seen in the after picture. Dermal filler isn’t about ‘puffing’ up your face. It’s about creating soft lines & gently projected contours & angles, as well as considered or well placed volume. It’s about balance, the outcome of which is highly dependent on your natural base as well as your injector’s aesthetic eye & skill level. So choose an injector who sees beauty the same way as you. But more importantly, don’t be scared of dermal filler!!! As we age, dermal filler is your friend. #dermalfillers #structure #volume #liquidfacelift #antiageing #drjodie #cosmeticdoctor #surreyhills See more

02.01.2022 So I wanted to post this b&a picture (from a past treatment) as a follow up from my post yesterday about forehead lines. My lovely client wanted to address both her frown lines & horizontal forehead lines with anti wrinkle treatment, but has a low hanging brow & is an avid brow raiser when communicating, which makes her a sitting duck for brow droop when trying to address forehead lines. Remember the forehead muscle is the only muscle holding up the brow. In fact, I was so co...ncerned that treating her forehead lines would lead to significant brow droop that I started the process by only treating her frown lines. As you can see, even without directly treating her forehead lines, treatment of her frown lines actually softened her forehead lines ‘at rest’ (when not actively raising her brow). Why? Well in part this is due to proximity of the lower forehead to the frown treatment zone - fibres here are somewhat overlapping. But also because relaxing her frown, which normally pulls the brow down, creates brow lift ... so her forehead muscle doesn’t have to work so hard to lift up her brow (it’s normal function), so it’s muscle activity is reduced, leading to softening of her horizontal forehead lines over time. A neat trick, isn’t it?! Treating the frown lines has a double whammy effect! #frownlines #foreheadlines #trickierthanyouthink #drjodie #surreyhills #melbourne #refreshyournaturallook See more
