16.01.2022 **SEE UPDATE BELOW** Survey on the experiences of housing and homelessness for LGBTIQ+ asylum seekers and refugees https://forms.gle/BfawxqxFSjMRaDSX9... There is an inquiry into homelessness in Australia currently under way. It aims to learn more about the reasons people experience homelessness in Australia and what support is needed. Unfortunately, the inquiry does not identify LGBTIQ+ people or people from refugee backgrounds as a group at risk of homelessness. We are preparing a submission to inform the Inquiry on the specific challenges that LGBTIQ+ asylum seekers and refugees are experiencing when it comes to having a stable place to live. This survey is for LGBTIQ+ people seeking asylum, refugees and otherwise forcibly displaced. Please fill it out yourself or share among the people you know. Update: the Inquiry has now been suspended in lights of the COVID-19 and will resume later in the year. We are still collecting data but there is no deadline now to submit your responses.

15.01.2022 #austethicalcommunitygrants WOW! We (all) did it. In a few years, our volunteers, hosts and supporters have actively and wholeheartedly helped to create housing solutions for refugees and asylum seekers. ... Cheers to a new chapter, thanks to your votes we have been selected for the Australian Ethical community grant of $20,000! https://www.australianethical.com.au/community-grants/ This is a gift that will enrich our program by contributing to crucial volunteer-based operations and allowing us to run inclusive community-engaging events. 15.01.2022 Last 5 March 2020, Refugees Welcome Australia held a Roundtable Discussion on community-based responses to homelessness. We invited individuals working with diverse communities & people experiencing vulnerabilities to join us for an afternoon of sharing and learning various community responses to housing issues that many refugees and asylum-seekers face. It was a pleasure seeing everyone’s engagement throughout the afternoon. The event made it clear that community participat...ion, an open dialogue, and giving people a safe space to discuss their opinions are necessary in resolving social issues such as homelessness. ------------------------------ Here are some of the photos taken from the event.

01.01.2022 There are so many important causes driven by community members. While we want to make a point that all causes matter and are worth every support, we - somewhat paradoxically - have to voice the needs of our focus group and advocate for you to support us, so we can support them. Please take 1 sec to vote in this year’s funding round. If not for us then for any other valuable cause!! https://www.australianethical.com.au/community-grants

01.01.2022 Last 1 Feb 2020, RWA held a neighbourhood forum to discuss our hosts' experiences and the impacts hosting has had on their lives and families.
