23.01.2022 Bobcat conversion completed which includes, slide out seat fitted with ROHO cushion, Speks backrest and 4 point harness, custom made joysticks and push button engine controls. Huge thanks to Ryan Hewitt for his talents in completing the electrical controls. Now for me to sit back and watch Gary do all the heavy lifting.

23.01.2022 Another upgrade to the bobcat underway. I’ve now fitted RC servo motors to control the hydraulic joystick which drives the bobcat. These servo motors will be controlled via a small wheelchair style joystick which hopefully should enable Gary to operate independently. #spinalcordinjury #physicaltherapy #neuromoves #spinalcordinjuryrecovery #atchat

22.01.2022 Today Rod Parsons and I helped Shane Agnew #nohandsneeded to control a #racing car game using a modified #playstation joystick operated by his chin. Shane is truely an amazing person as is Rod who made it possible. #spinalcureaustralia #spinalcordinjuryrecovery #makeithappen #atchat #occupationaltherapy #fionastanleyhospital #rehabilitation #ilc #uwa

21.01.2022 Regain Independence and Curtin Uni were proud to present at today’s #wiserealities symposium which provided the audience with an overview of the research project undertaken using VR to improve Neuroplasticity. Interested to learn more, or experience VR as part of your rehabilitation? then feel free to send us an email. #physiotherapist #curtinuniversity #atchat #spinalcordinjury #virtualrehab #occupationaltherapy

16.01.2022 First test drive for Gary towing the extensively modified whipper snipper I’ve made behind the equally impressive mower. I couldn’t be more happy with the final outcome. Now Gary can cut the lawns and trim around the fence posts himself. What a fabulous outcome for a person with a C3/4 SCI and just another achievement many thought was not possible. Huge thanks to Ryan Hewitt who completed the automation. #spinalcordinjuriesaustralia #spinalcureaustralia #occupationaltherapy #assistedtechnology #notimpossible

16.01.2022 Another awesome automation completed by my son Ryan. Push button controls (glow plugs, start and 2 stops) added to the bobcat so Gary can operate. Buttons just need to be mounted. #nothingisimpossible #spinalcordinjury #occupationaltherapy #bobcatequipment #automationengineering #curtinuniversityperth #asv

16.01.2022 Whipper Snipper - Upgraded I’ve made a few further improvements. A few extra ponies have been added and the nylon cutting cords have been replaced with solid blades.

15.01.2022 Fantastic evening at the XR:WA Virtual Reality festival at Curtin Uni. So much interest shown in the research between Regain and Curtin Uni which included the Hon. David Templeman.

14.01.2022 Today Gary had his first drive of the Positrack I modified which was a huge success.

13.01.2022 Having some fun and a great workout in VR!!

04.01.2022 Its been a few years since we approached Curtin University however we continue to be excited about the ongoing research work being undertaken to understand the benefits of using VR for rehabilitation.

02.01.2022 I started Regain Independence to share Garys journey and over the past 2 years VR has become a major part of his rehabilitation which has attracted a lot of interest from researchers, hospitals and Occupational Therapists. As such, VR- Virtual Rehab was established and additional Oculus headsets purchased so we can continue to help others experience VR. Want to get involved, then drop us an email and don’t forget to like and share. #atchat #spinalcordinjury #occupationaltherapy #curtinuniversity #vrrehab
