25.01.2022 One of the unique and wonderful traditions in Australian Rules football is where clubs draft players under the Father-Son rule. In 1992 under this very rule, the Essendon Football Club selected Dustin Fletcher, the son of former legendary club captain, Ken Fletcher. Across six decades at the club, the Fletcher family name has combined for a record 664 senior football games.... Many consider the Fletchers one of the most successful Father-Son combinations ever, and upon seeing this new Regal Greats of the Game Dynasty dual-signature card, it evoked a smile from both Dustin and Ken reminding them of their lengthy service to the club and its traditions. Each of the 50-numbered gold-foiled cards have been hand-signed by Ken and Dustin Fletcher. Ken played 264 senior games between 1967 and 1980 (where he captained the club from 1977 until 1979) and during that period won the clubs best and fairest award in 1978. Dustin played in a premiership in his debut season in 1993 and again in the year 2000. In the same season, he was awarded the clubs best and fairest award and was selected in the All-Australian Team. He played his 400th and final match on the 30th May 2015 and is only one of four players to reach this legendary milestone. 24.01.2022 Considered one of the finest players to ever play the game, Graham "Polly" Farmer transformed the ruck position throughout his career in WA and Victoria. "He was such a dominant player on the field, as he had a tremendous leap, superb handball and simply made everyone around him play better" said Fred Wooller, 1963 premiership captain. Success followed Farmer wherever he played, notably a 1963 Premiership with Geelong and five WAFL premierships and three Sandover Medals.... He was a delight to deal with and was humbled being one of the early past players to accept our invitation to be included in our inaugural Greats of the Game release , the first premium product that didn't just feature HOF players, rather players from different teams, levels and backgrounds. 05.01.2022 30 years ago today marks the day the Daniher Brothers created history... Four brothers made Australian Rules history on 1 September 1990 when they played together for the Essendon Football Club. Those four brothers and their team were victorious against St Kilda that day, winning by 35 points. The Age's Greg Baum says - "The Daniher brothers are footy’s greatest bumper crop, between them playing 752 premium quality games spanning more than two decades. But only once did they ...appear all together. It remains the only instance of four brothers-in-arms in a VFL/AFL match." 01.01.2022 Geelong fans are mourning the loss of 1952 Premiership player, Geoff Williams who died on Monday at the age of 89. The dual club B&F played a key role in the @geelongcats backline in the 1952 Grand Final victory over @collingwood_fc along with Russ Middlemiss and John Hyde. Those that saw him play likened him to @joelselwood14 who also cracked the senior side during his rookie year and played in a premiership. If they had awarded a Rising Star award in the 50's he would have ...won it that season it was said.
