23.01.2022 In line with the latest restrictions imposed by NSW Government due to COVID-19 Regatta Point Holiday Park will be closing its doors at midnight tonight to all non-essential travellers including general tourism and annual sites. This will remain in effect until at least 23rd June 2020 unless further extended by the Govt. Please read the attachment below. If you have upcoming reservations we will be in touch to discuss, please be patient with our staff and note no enquiries will be replied to on this page. We will give further updates as they come to hand. 20.01.2022 Transport for NSW are resuming maintenance work on the Wallaga Lake Bridge from Tuesday 19th May (weather permitting). Works are expected to take about 4 weeks ...and will be carried out between 7am and 6pm weekdays with the BRIDGE CLOSED TO MOTORISTS AND PEDESTRIANS BETWEEN 8.30AM AND 3.30PM. A detour in place will be via the Princes Highway to Cobargo and then the Bermagui-Cobargo Road to Bermagui. An additional 30-40 minutes travel time should be allowed. 18.01.2022 Boat under construction near the old post office site in Narira Street Bermagui circa. 1974. "Middy" Monk failed to get the OK to finish & launch the boat. Ask...ed to show the plans, he drew the shape in the sand. Told to produce proper plans within the week, Middy scooped up sand and put it in his pockets and promised they would be done by next week. The boat was never finished or launched and sat at in Narira street for several years. The Monk family were fishermen and the house in the background was owned by Aub Taylor , the local butcher. The boat was burnt in the late 70s . Bermagui Historical Society is seeking more information about the history of the boat and who is the young girl in the photos. Another photo has come to our attention. Local Bermagui resident, Malcolm Halliday took this photo of the boat on its side in the 1970s just before it was destroyed. The house in the background was on the highest point of Narira Street and was built by Thomas Moorehead around 1876. Thomas also built the first timber mill in Bermagui by the River and the post office below the house. The Post Office was run by his daughter Janey. Some time after 1942, the post office was demolished and the house passed to local butcher Aub Taylor and his family. The house was demolished in the 1980s.
