25.01.2022 I CANT SQUAT Welcome to 2020! Another year means another new years resolution to get moving but more often than not we are met with new injury and setbacks. But what if we took charge and a proactive approach with a strength based program to kick start the year prior to the #2020marathon goal?... Below is a recent blog post from Sydney Physiotherapist Tim Rowland discussing the squat and its common relation ship to "injury"!

23.01.2022 As per the Premiers announcement today Regenerate will be back open from 7am Tuesday 27th April. Staff and patients will need to wear masks and staff will continue to use the appropriate hygiene measures we have implemented since COVID began. Larger groups and classes such as Osteoblast, Circuit and Mat classes will be cancelled this week whilst Studio sessions will continue with masks. Don't wait for it to get better while you are in pain - book your appointment now online www.regeneratephysiotherapy.com.au

22.01.2022 Our first Osteo Virtual Classes commence this week. If you know an older person in isolation who needs exercise for Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis or just because then pass on our details. The feedback from our Pilot class was amazing particularly in regard to the social aspect. Many older people are lonely and we have a social catch up before and after the online classes. Classes are held via Zoom and participants ideally need a set of hand weights and some resistance band or tubing. Contact the centre on 9284 0388 for more details or to register

21.01.2022 Allied Health Professionals are encouraged to continue to practice so Regenerate Physiotherapy remains open, with some changes. The health of our staff and our clients is our most important concern so we have implemented the following to keep you safe whilst being able to continue your care: 1) All larger classes such as Osteo, Circuit and Mat have been cancelled... 2) Clinical Exercise Rehabilitation (Clinical Pilates) continues but with reduced numbers (3 max in our 75 sq metre studio) to ensure social distancing. Each client has their own (well spaced out) reformer and set of weights with no sharing or equipment. All equipment is disinfected between sessions. Bring a large towel to every session. 3) Individual assessment, diagnosis and treatment with your Physiotherapist is still available. Beds are disinfected between patients and the Physios are following strict infection control procedures. Bring a large towel to your appointment to place over the bed. Special anti-bacterial head sheets are used. If you would prefer no hands on treatment then you can still be assessed and guided through a rehabilitation exercise program. 4) Our wait room has had every second chair removed and you have the option of waiting in your car and being called when your Physio is ready 5) If you are not comfortable attending the centre you have the option of a telephone or video consultation. Telehealth has been demonstrated to be equally effective as in person treatment. You will have a subjective assessment, we will visualise your movement and function and then provide a corrective exercise program including video’s of your exercises via our app. Contact the centre for further details and bookings on 9284 0388

16.01.2022 Treat the patient, not the MRI! Yet another study highlighting that pathological findings on MRI are found equally (statistically speaking) in shoulders wi...th and without pain. Scary sounding finding does not equal pain! A few other stats about early MRI: Clinical practice guidelines from many medical professional organizations recommend exhausting conservative care prior to getting an image Patients who get an MRI first spend thousands of dollars more on their care Studies show that knowledge of pathological findings (that are likely not the source of the pain see above) negatively impact patient outcomes via Free MVMT

16.01.2022 Great info-graphic about Osteo-arthritis. One of the main conditions addressed at Regenerate

16.01.2022 A message from our Physio Mitch! For those that know me it’s pretty clear I’ve always taken on a challenge, and 2020 is no different! That said what’s the stupidest decision a water based athlete could make? ... Do an ULTRA MARATHON! But this year it’s more than a personal challenge! With a close friend recently diagnosed with cancer she took it upon herself to make a change for better over looking for sympathy. Welcome #thehustle ! So here I am making it my mission to help with fundraising for this incredible cause. The hustle aims to raise funds through fitness for those directly affected by the big C bomb. Its hub for fundraising events, supporting those in need and a social way to give back. All donations will go directly to those affected by cancer and towards creating fundraisers and merchandise for upcoming /future events. So please dig deep and help make every step I make a step towards dropping the F bomb on the C bomb! -Mitch https://www.the-hustle.com.au/mitch-s-ultra-marathon

06.01.2022 Telehealth refers to consultations with a medical or allied health professional performed either online or over the phone. Similar to using Facetime or Skype to talk to friends or family. Telehealth has been utilised for some time to assist rural and remote patients, workers unable to get away and attend an appointment and those with transport issues. A number of studies have demonstrated that Physiotherapists using telehealth achieve the same (or even better in some cases) o...utcomes for their clients. Obviously if your condition requires hands on treatment such as soft tissue releases, joint mobilisation or taping then you will still need to attend a face to face appointment. But in many circumstances the solution to your issue will be exercise based and this can be done easily online. A telehealth consultation is similar to a face to face consultation and will involved: a) Subjective questioning about the condition and a full medical history where required b) The Physio will then observe your movement and function via your webcam or iPad c) From these the physio will then have an impression of the issue or a diagnosis depending on the condition d) You will then be instructed on the corrective exercises which you need to do. The physio will either demonstrate or screen share a video of the exercises. These will then be emailed to you and accessed via our app. The platform we use for Telehealth consultations is encrypted and secure unlike Skype and Facetime. An initial consultation generally takes around an hour including the set-up instructions and the physios time in doing up your exercise program. The cost is $120. Follow up consultations take 20-30 minutes and cost $60. At this stage there is no rebate from private health insurers but we are anticipating this will soon be available. For bookings and further information contact the centre on 9284 0388 or email [email protected]. Online bookings are not available for telehealth consultations.

06.01.2022 The discussion of whether to stretch before exercise has been an ongoing debate. There are many different types of stretching that can be done to improve our flexibility. The question is, what form of stretching should we be doing and when should we be doing it? Alison Has your answer! Read on to find out! https://regeneratephysiotherapy.com.au/thestretchdebate

02.01.2022 We have all experienced it, the dreaded jet lag. And with the Christmas period coming up its not uncommon for many of us to travel the world to be with family. So what is it and what can we do to prevent or minimise its effects?! https://regeneratephysiotherapy.com.au/jet-lag/

01.01.2022 Marga putting her virtual Osteo class through their warm up this morning. I think the pre and post exercise chatting time was equally important for the participants. All classes booked out this week so we will put more on next week
