23.01.2022 We would like to thank all who made this years carols service possible. Below is the link to the recording from this year (for those who would like to relive the experience, or for those who were not able to be there). https://youtu.be/cEPeYqxFgtU

22.01.2022 Some more rehearsing today. This is from the arrangement of Silent Night, sung by soprano Hannah Muirhead with Michael Murphy on piano and Bill Stewart improvising on the horn.

21.01.2022 Our organist for the carols, Mr Leigh Askew. Leigh holds a BMus in organ performance from ACU and has undertaken post-graduate studies in education from ACU. A regular at such events as the Organs of the Goldfields Festival, he has also served as principal organist for Christ Church Anglican Cathedral in Ballarat and organist and teacher at Ballarat Grammar. Having played for the inaurgural Carols in 2016, we're definitely excited to have Leigh back for 2018 and hope you'll stay to listen to the magnificent postlude he has prepared.

19.01.2022 One of the groups to form part of our 60 voice chorus this year is the Ballarat Chroal Society. BCS has been a fixture in Ballarat choral circles for many years and are no strangers to large productions, including Mozart's Requiem and forming part of the chorus for Handel's Messiah with the MSO on December 8th this year. We're thrilled to have the Ballarat Choral Society back again in 2018! Have you RSVP'd for our event yet? There's only 11 days to go!

19.01.2022 Regina Caeli will be singing the 10:30 Mass this Sunday at St Patrick's Cathedral Ballarat. Motet by Claudio Casciolini.

19.01.2022 Our Director of Music for the carols, Mr Michael Murphy. Michael holds a BMedRadSci (Med Imaging), MA (Theology), GradDipEd (Secondary), MEdLead, and is currently completing a MSc before commencing a MEd (Educational Psychology) in 2019. Michael has been invited back to direct this year's Carols having been the founding director of the Carols Service at St Patrick's Cathedral. Michael is a choral music specialist having sung as a layclerk and directed cathedral choirs professionally in a number of metropolitan cathedrals both in Australia and abroad. Most recently, in Sydney he is Director of Ensembles at a school of about 1600 students. In this role he oversees the entire co-curricular music program, while finding time to also be Head of Rugby!

08.01.2022 Some shots of last Sunday’s Sung Mass.

08.01.2022 "Gloria in excelsis Deo! Et in terra pax hominibus!" "Glory to God in the highest! And on earth, peace to men of good will!" Tonight's Midnight Mass at St Patrick's Cathedral Ballarat was our last official 'gig' for 2018. We'd like to thank all those who came and joined in the choir at what is a rather difficult hour to be awake! ... We also would like to thank all those who have supported us throughout 2018 in many ways, great and small. Here's to greater (and smaller) things in 2019! From all of us at Regina Caeli, we wish you and your family a safe and happy Christmas and a happy new year. May the peace of the Christ child reign in your homes and in your hearts this Christmastide. We look forward to singing for you in 2019. And now it's time for bed!

07.01.2022 If you missed it, here is the ABC interview from this morning.

06.01.2022 Did you know that members of Regina Caeli sing for a traditional Latin Mass once a month in Ballarat? Also known as the traditional Roman Rite or the Extraordinary Form, the Latin Mass happens every Sunday at 12:30 pm at St Columba's Catholic Church, Armstrong St, Ballarat North. In contrast to most Masses, the music is almost entirely plainchant, also known as Gregorian Chant. When numbers permit, we also sing polyphony. This Sunday, May 19th, will be a sung Mass, otherwi...se known as a Missa Cantata. If you're looking for something different or are simply curious, you're most welcome to attend. (Don't worry if you're not familiar with Latin: there are plenty of small Missals which contain all the translations.) Photo: Mass at St Benedict's, Broadway. Photo used with the permission of Latin Mass Society Australia.

05.01.2022 Come join Regina Caeli tonight from 7 pm for Tenebrae: The Service of Shadows. Including the sung Lamentations of Jeremiah and motets by di Lasso, Byrd, Palestrina, Anerio and Allegri's stunning Miserere (Psalmus 50).

04.01.2022 In case you missed it: Carols in the Cathedral's Musical Director and founder, Michael Murphy, was on 107.9FM ABC Ballarat with Steve Martin this morning at 6:30 am to talk all things Carols. We'll upload a video of the interview shortly.

03.01.2022 Tomorrow Regina Caeli members are again singing for a Missa Cantata, a sung Mass in the traditional Form of the Mass. It's at 12:30 pm at St Columba's, Ballarat North. And while you won't hear it sung, all are definitely welcome :)
