25.01.2022 Introducing my stunning cat client, Tango! Just look at his beautiful eyes! My lovely clients adopted Tango from a shelter when he was 11 months old - lucky boy! It is especially sweet as Tango is deaf, so has some special needs. Although white cats with one blue eye and one green eye are sometimes deaf, and my clients were told Tango was completely deaf when they adopted him, we think he might be able to hear a little bit?! When I was contacted, Tango had unfortunately s...tarted to attack his humans (which is never fun or good!), and to also show aggression at his own reflections. Thankfully, after we put some behavioural and environmental modifications in place, all is now going well! A big thanks to my wonderful clients for showing Tango such love and patience through all this and not giving up on him! Thank you! Photos courtesy of Lani.
25.01.2022 I'm sure some of my cat clients would come out looking like this after watching this horror movie!
25.01.2022 Good news for people living in strata complexes. Sadly, many people are not allowed to live with their animal family due to strata rules (some do anyway though of course!) Hopefully, that will be changing soon though?! The bill amendment passed in the Upper House and will now continue to the Lower House in mid-September. Fingers crossed it will pass! For more info:... https://www.emmahurstmp.com/animals_in_strata_by_law_change In my opinion, animals are family and are sentient beings!
25.01.2022 Amber and Onyx have chosen to sleep together on a cat tree and share a heat pad and Amber is grooming Onyx - so sweet! I'm finding it hard to work as keep getting distracted by their cuteness!
24.01.2022 A happy post about my cat clients, Gypsy and King Louie, welcoming their new human baby brother into their family! People always worry bringing a new baby into their home when they have furry family. However, with some preparation and love and support, it can work well for everyone. I think it is lovely for children to grow up with cats - or any animal! Gypsy and King Louie have been wonderful accepting their new human brother into their family and helping whenever and h...owever they can, as you can see from the adorable photos! We had to address a couple of other issues relating to cat's roaming outside, but that has now improved. A big thanks to my wonderful clients for supporting their beautiful kitties and helping them adjust to their new baby brother, as I know it can be a stressful (and busy) time! 24.01.2022 Ha! Our 4 cats have at least 3 nicknames each!
23.01.2022 My Friday feel-good story today is about my beautiful client, Sasha! Sasha was unfortunately having toileting issues when I was asked to help. Luckily, she was urinating in her trays, but she wasn't defecating in them - never a fun thing! My lovely clients put in place the behavioural and environmental modifications we discussed, and soon Sasha was using her trays for everything! Clever girl! There was a little hiccup when renos were done for a couple of days next door an...d lots of noise etc, but then Sasha was back on track and hasn't looked back! Yay!! Toileting issues are never fun, so a big thanks to my clients for their unwavering love and patience and for supporting Sasha all the way through! Photos courtesy of Chris.
22.01.2022 Happy World Cat Day (celebrated in Europe today - any excuse to celebrate cats in my opinion!)
22.01.2022 Meet my gorgeous cat clients, Angus & Freddy! Angus (older boy) was always a bit anxious, but happy! Unfortunately, his anxiety intensified when my client moved into a new home and her partner moved in with them too. After meeting everyone, we put some behavioural and environmental techniques and strategies in place. My lovely client and her partner have both been so loving and patient with Angus which is now paying off! Angus is now a lot more confident being in their ne...w home with their new human and is once again a happy boy! Yay! These two beautiful sweet boys are so bonded - it's so heartwarming to see them together and really made me smile at how cute they are together! My clients did a great job of introducing them to each other and it seems it was a friendship just meant to be with these sweet boys Photos courtesy of Emilia.
21.01.2022 Media - What's Up PussyCat? A little while I was contacted by a journalist from ABC Life re helping contribute to an article on tips on how we can help our cats be happy being indoor only (or secure in yards / enclosures etc). So, here it is! https://www.abc.net.au//how-to-keep-a-cat-indoors/12686078
20.01.2022 Sorry, this post is a bit of an emotional rollercaster Introducing gorgeous kitten clients, Peaches and Cooper! Peaches is the cute fluff ball Ragdoll and Cooper is the very handsome tuxedo boy. It is also an extremely sad story about beautiful Frank (Ragdoll) & Muffin (Tortie Burmese) RIP. I was contacted to help Peaches and Cooper as they were waking my clients up early, scratching furniture and for general kitten behaviour - we all know how much energy kittens have! ...Luckily, after we put behavioural and environmental modifications in place, these issues have been resolved. Yay - great work by everyone! Now for the sad news which my clients wanted to share to hopefully help people be aware of potential risks when adopting cats and you have resident cats already in your home. My clients adopted Peaches when she was 3 months old and they had two older cats, Frank and Muffin, who were both immunocompromised geriatric cats. It was not known that Peaches was a carrier of FeCOV and sadly, Frank and Muffin got very sick. As they were so sick, it was kinder to say goodbye to them together so they didn't have to suffer any longer. How devastating to lose two of your beloved family at the same time. I can't even begin to imagine and my heart really goes out to my clients. In memory of Frank and Muffin, I have included their photos as well. RIP. I unfortunately didn't get to meet of these gorgeous kitties as we did a remote consult, but they look so sweet! Photos courtesy of Aaron.
19.01.2022 Today is World Animal Day! Thank you to all you beautiful people out there helping and loving animals. Going to go and give our kitties a cuddle now! ... Regina
17.01.2022 A Friday feel-good story for you all that is very close to my heart Some of you might remember a post I made last year about some dear friends (and my second feline family) having to say goodbye to their beautiful boy, Chester, due to sudden illness. Of course, my friends and Rosemary (their other beautiful cat) needed time to grieve and it is never easy losing a beloved family member. ... However, in March they saw a sweet gorgeous rescue cat needing a home - Nylah. Nylah was found on the street with her kittens and had likely been abused, so was very timid and shy. My friends opened their hearts and home to Nylah and after a lot of love, patience and support, Nylah finally came out of her shell (and from under the bed!) and learnt to trust and love my friends. After a slow introduction, Nylah and Rosemary are now also friends - happy days!! Chester will never be replaced (no cat ever replaces another), but it is lovely to see that Nylah has found a forever home and family and has been given a chance to live a happy life full of love - and that they are all a happy family now. Thank you to my wonderful friends for all their love and patience helping Nylah to trust and love (not always easy!), and to Rosemary for becoming a new feline friend to Nylah. Makes my heart sing!! Photos courtesy of Kristen and Stephen.
15.01.2022 Our cats are indoor only (so no one gets hurt - our cats, other cats or any other animals / insects etc), but we get toy mice (and other toy 'prey') given to us as presents regularly!
15.01.2022 Here is the heartwarming story of my stunning cat client, Milo! My lovely clients adopted Milo when he was 5 months old and gave him a wonderful home. Unfortunately, Milo was a very timid boy and after 2 months was still hiding a lot and not socialising much at all with his family so they contacted me for help. Luckily, I got to 'meet' Milo (just after lock down!) and when I say meet, I mean I saw a little bit of him behind the curtain. He was certainly one shy and anxious ...little boy! After we put in place some behavioural and environmental modifications, Milo slowly started to get more confident and come out of his shell (instead of always being behind curtains and under beds) and interact with the family. Fast forward a few months and now look at him - out and about and he likes to be pampered by the family (the kids especially!) I absolutely love these stories as it just goes to show that with love, patience and support, that even the most timid cats who might not have had a great start to life, can blossom! Thank you!! Again, thank you to my wonderful clients for taking the time and putting in so much love and energy into helping Milo. He wouldn't be where he is today without them all, and I am sure he will continue to give lots of love to say thanks for helping him in many different ways over the years to come. Photos courtesy of Sean.
14.01.2022 Following on from my post a little while ago, please consider signing this petition if you haven't already. It would be wonderful to see changes to current strata laws in NSW, so blanket-bans on pets are lifted in strata schemes. I think there are many of you who agree with me that our furry, feathered and scaly friends are much loved and are family too! Thanks in advance! P.S great if you can please share as well. Thanks!
13.01.2022 Introducing my gorgeous little kitten client, Meeko! My lovely client adopted Meeko from a shelter when he was 3.5 months old and has given him a wonderful loving home - lucky little boy! Unfortunately, Meeko had started to inappropriately urinate in the house, was keeping my client up at night and was just a bit naughty with scratching furniture etc. After putting in some behavioural and environmental modifications in place, Meeko is now using his litter tray and letting... my client sleep and is generally a better well-behaved little boy! Just shows what love, energy and patience can do to help our feline family. A huge thank you to my client for giving Meeko a second chance rescuing him and giving him a loving and safe home! Meeko certainly looks happy, relaxed and very loving! Photos courtesy of Sophie.
13.01.2022 Happy Father's Day to all the Cat Dads out there! Hope your cat(s) give you lots of smooches - when they finish their important naps! They're dreaming of you though of course! Have a great day!! And to all the dads of other non-human family and human kids too!
13.01.2022 Ha, this is our house! A lot of my clients also tell me their cats don't like closed doors either. Am sure some of you can relate?!
13.01.2022 Hiding in plain sight! Our boy Onyx is a master of disguise - he also stays incognito when he is fast asleep and you're looking everywhere (and calling) for him!
12.01.2022 Happy National Black Cat Day!! (aka Mini Blank Panther Day!) I LOVE black cats! Why anyone would think they are bad luck is beyond me! Please feel free to share photos of your mini black panthers with us - I know I have quite a few cat clients out there with gorgeous black cats (or even black and white cats!) ... I just found this photo of a black cat online - I love the expression on his / her face! Regina
09.01.2022 One year ago today beautiful siblings, Amber and Onyx came to live with us! Luckily they were rescued and then cared for by two wonderful women - and we were then lucky enough to have them join our fam! Thank you Lisa and Elizabeth! Here are some photos of our furry fam! ... I know it is hard to tell Star and Amber apart sometimes as both are Calico girls (Amber has way more fluff and is a lot bigger though!) Karma and Onyx are kind of similar too as both white but Karma has some ginger spots and Onyx also has more floof and is huge compared to Karma. All very colour co-ordinated cats though! Ha! See more
08.01.2022 Our beautiful girl Karma, giving an excellent tutorial on how to use the new 'accordian' cat scratcher we got out today. Karma jumped in straight away for a good massage, scratch and to scent it! Star also had a go afterwards (vid in comments) Quite different to Karma!
07.01.2022 Introducing my handsome cat client, Wilbur! For about 6 months, Wilbur was having a wee problem (literally!) when I was asked to help. Unfortunately, he wasn't using his litter trays much, lots of high jinx in the early hours of the morning scratching carpet and carrying on! Not really what we want our beloved furry fam doing! My lovely clients put the techniques and strategies we discussed in place - Wilbur was a quick learner and within a couple of days he had proven wha...t a good boy he can be with his toileting and within a week he was letting my clients sleep! Litter tray issues are never fun, so a huge thanks to my clients for being so loving and committed helping Wilbur. Photos courtesy of Mike and Latoya.
06.01.2022 Ha, we sometimes get 'the look' if we accidentally wake one of our sleeping beauties! Luckily, we are quickly forgiven!
04.01.2022 Introducing my beautiful cat clients, Fried Rice (ginger boy) and Mochi (calico girl)! I was asked to help Fried Rice and Mochi when Fried Rice and his humans moved in with Mochi and her human, and things unfortunately weren't going so well. Always stressful for everyone! We put in place some behavioural and environmental modifications and Fried Rice and Mochi are now able to just hang out together and chill and be friends! Happy days! ... Thanks to my lovely clients being so committed and loving (and patient!) every step of the way to help these two gorgeous kitties get to where they are at today! Thank you!! Photos courtesy of Federica.
04.01.2022 Introducing my gorgeous Ragdoll client, Milo! When I was contacted to help Milo, he was unfortunately being aggressive towards his humans (not good at any time, but especially worrying when one of my clients is pregnant!), they were moving soon plus they're expecting a baby mid-November! We put some behavioural and environmental modifications in place and the aggression issue was resolved quickly and then happily the move went smoothly! Now just waiting on the new baby to... arrive, but the preparation being done has meant that Milo has been adjusting well and is a happy boy so far! Thanks to my amazing clients always showing Milo love and patience and helping him with his issues and with all of these big changes. I can't wait to hear how things go when their new baby arrives! My clients aren't on Facebook, but have given me permission to share their story and I will hopefully be able to give an update at some stage once the baby arrives. Photos courtesy of Marcelle.
04.01.2022 Ha! Our 3 girls do this perfectly - especially Amber! Onyx sometimes....he must have missed this class!
03.01.2022 Meet Pitch & Patch! This is another feel-good rescue of two beautiful stray cats finding a loving home! Pitch & Patch have been extremely lucky kitties - they turned up at a friend's place one day as strays and he very kindly started feeding them - they found the right person! Once he gained a little bit of trust, it was great that he took them to the vet to see if microchipped (they weren't) and got them vaccinated and desexed. Pitch & Patch went back to living in his b...ackyard, but our friend was moving, so another generous friend has given these beautiful boys a wonderful loving home inside with everything a cat could want! We had some chats on how to transition the boys to being inside and how to help socialise them, and with lots of love and patience by our friend, these beautiful boys are now completely at home. Just look at how happy they are! They have come a long way from being unsocialised homeless cats, to now having a wonderful loving and safe home with a great enclosure and their wonderful human giving them heaps of love! I love stories like this! Pitch is the sleek mini black panther and Patch is the gorgeous ginge and white patch boy! Photos courtesy of Vicki (and earlier outside ones are by Jason).
02.01.2022 Introducing my gorgeous kitten client, Marbles, and her new handsome kitty friend, Sav! Marbles and Sav (along with some other kitties) were luckily rescued from doing it tough on the streets when they were approx 7 months old by my lovely clients and another caring man. Lucky kitties! Marbles was not really socialised with humans, so my clients took her in and called me for help. However, when I met with my clients, they had already done a lot of great work helping Marbl...es trust humans and become more confident and socialised, so we just kept building on that and discussed the re-introduction with Sav. As my clients already share their lives and home with 3 cats, the other rescuer had adopted Sav and was happy to also adopt Marbles! Thankfully, all the hard work everyone put in paid off and Marbles has adjusted well in her new home and she and Sav are great friends! I love a happy story! I really wanted to share this story to give hope to people who rescue / find cats on the street, that if given the chance (and with lots of energy and love), they can be socialised and blossom into wonderful confident and loving cats who can share our homes and lives with us and become part of the family! A huge thanks to all involved with the rescue of Marbles and Sav and the other kitties - your care and compassion, not to mention all of your time, energy, and generosity, have made a huge difference to all of these cats! Photos courtesy of Adam.
02.01.2022 Introducing the stunning British Shorthair trio - Penny, Winston & Otis! When I walked into my client's home, I immediately knew cats lived there - I loved it and it is a dream home for cats! Lots of cat trees, perches, beds, toys and scratching posts etc. My lovely client had done a great job of introducing young Otis to Penny and Winston a few months earlier, but just wanted a bit of help with some minor relationship issues between the beautiful trio and to ensure th...ey all are happy. Penny had always been a little more reserved and quiet and the boys were a bit much for her at times. Thanks to all the love and energy and time my client has for these gorgeous and lucky cats, Penny is now more confident which is great! They are certainly lucky to have my client as their human! Photos courtesy of Jen.
02.01.2022 Introducing the gorgeous black and white duo, Marli & Percy! As soon as my client contacted me, I could feel how much she loves these beauties and would do anything for them! ... Unfortunately, due to cats outside causing issues for her lovely cats, she had moved twice last year to help her cats (and moved in between into her Mum's whilst finding suitable places) so a lot of change, but totally worth it! When we met they had settled in nicely with just some fine tuning to do for a couple of issues. So, we put some behavioural modifications in place to help Percy as he was being quite vocal at times and waking up early. Percy has now settled in and everyone is happy! A big thanks to my amazing client being so totally committed to her beautiful kitties and giving them a home full of love and happiness! Photos courtesy of Amanda.
02.01.2022 Hi cat lovers, especially those of the long hair kind! Just wondering if anyone can recommend a cat groomer that you have used and liked - more importantly, that your cat liked? Or know someone who has? Ideally, one that does home visits in Sydney / Woolloomooloo. Open to travelling though if need be for a recommended groomer.... Thanks,... Regina See more
01.01.2022 Hehe! Our cats never ever leave any dry biscuits to achieve the 'Suffer-ring'! All gone in a flash!
