25.01.2022 Please note that the earlier decision not to allow host clubs to provide lunches for GCL / JCW match this side of Christmas is still in place for this weekend’s games and it will also be the case on December 13th regardless of what might change in the COVID space between now and then. Catering for lunch and drinks will be on an individual or team basis. Canteens are still permitted to open and sell pre-packaged food and drinks.

18.01.2022 GCL finals day today. Sale-Maffra has taken out the Senior & Under 18 divisions with victories over Leongatha and Bairnsdale while Bairnsdale won the Women's division by defeating Sale-Maffra.

18.01.2022 Fundraising for Junior cricket development in Gippsland schools. As most people already know, Cricket Victoria's school based development programs have been cut due to staffing redundancies associated with COVID induced financial problems. Gippsland Cricket hopes to fill some of this void with locally produced programs. Two initiatives are in the pipeline to help fund these proposals. 1/. Entry in the "Play for Purpose" raffle which is associated with the Australian Sports... Foundation and 2/. Associate membership of the Australian Sports Foundation. Our participation in the raffle program is confirmed. We are now part of an Australia Wide program that runs 3 raffles per year with 400 prizes per draw and approximately $300,000 worth of prizes in each draw. 50% of the ticket price is rebated back to Gippsland Cricket, the other 50% covers prizes, publicity and other running costs. If you would like to support Gippsland Junior Cricket Development buy purchasing tickets in this raffle please use the link below to make your purchase. The 2nd initiative listed above will allow individuals or business to make a donation to the same cause and achieve tax deductible status. Details of that scheme will be released soon. https://playforpurpose.com.au/gippsland-cricket See more

17.01.2022 The Morwell base Latrobe Cricket Club is trying to put together a Women's GCL team to avoid the bye in the current 5 team competition. If any female players are looking for a game (or a season of rep cricket - about 7 Sundays) the contact person is Anthony Bloomfield: 0455 303 750. The window of opportunity for this to happen is very small so if you are interested or know someone who might be, please make contact as soon as possible.

13.01.2022 Rep cricket update

10.01.2022 Anyone who happened to download a copy of the GCL handbook from the Region web site or received a copy in an e-mail send out on Tuesday should delete it. A corrected version is now available from the web page and a new version is being circulated by e-mail. Please note that start times for all GCL matches are what is recorded on MyCricket.

09.01.2022 Gippsland Cricket would like to offer condolences to our former publicity officer of 25 years Barry Switzer and his family on the passing of his wife Loretta. Loretta Switzer had more than a casual interest in cricket having earnt a life membership with the Gormandale cricket club as well as raising a family that included two stalwarts of TDCA cricket in Grantley and Travis. Barry commenced as publicity for Zone 10 (Gippsland) in 1990 and transitioned to the Region in 2000 when Zones 10 & 11 were merged. He retired from the position in 2015.

06.01.2022 The Board members of Gippsland Cricket wish current Region Vice-President and LVDCL delegate Wayne Mills a speedy recovery from a major medical emergency that has seen him rushed to Melbourne and undergoing surgery earlier in the day. All the best Wayne.

06.01.2022 GCL cricket returns tomorrow with the 1st game on round 4 of the Women's GCL. Sale-Maffra will take on the Warragul Hotshots at the College oval. The second match in this round (Bairnsdale vs Centrals) has been postponed until the 19th January to allow the Bairnsdale ladies a little extra time to regroup following the fires that have impacted much of their region. Other changes to the GCL schedule. The final of the Cameron White Cup (U/18 T20 championship) to be contested by Latrobe Valley and Sale-Maffra and the final of the Women's T20 competition - Sale-Maffra & Bairnsdale - have both been rescheduled to Sunday 23rd February for multiple reasons. Both games will be played in Sale.

01.01.2022 Vic Country has this afternoon won the ACCC Grand Final against Western Australia. It is quite a while since "The Vics" won this competition, I don't know the year but Robert Menzies may have been Prime Minister at the time. We congratulate all concerned on a fine performance throughout the carnival, in particular, we applaud the contributions of the four Gippslanders who were part of the team, Lee Stockdale - vc (TDCA), Jack Rietschel and Jack Wrigglesworth (SMCA) and Mark Ridgway - coach (formerly WDCA).
