16.01.2022 Inspiring Innovation Young Innovators will go head to head next week as they pitch their ideas to a panel of international entrepreneurs and investors as part of West Tech Fests Young Innovators Competition. Six finalists from Geraldton have been selected from 24 inspiring entries and are in the final stages of refining their pitches in a series of workshops led by Pollinators. ... The Competition, now in its second year, aims to encourage school students from years 5- 10 to create innovative ideas to deal with real problems. This years theme of Ocean and Waterways Health has created some interesting and exciting ideas from our youth who have developed solutions to significant problems facing these sensitive systems. Representatives from the Perth US Embassy and some West Tech Fest entrepreneurs will visit Geraldton to participate in the judging and awarding of prizes to finalists on the 7th of December. Alan Bradley, Director of Regional Development Australia - Mid West Gascoyne (RDAMWG) said its fabulous to be able to provide these young innovative thinkers with the tools and opportunity to be part of the Young Innovators Competition. Hopefully inspire them to think about a career in the start-up world and help make Geraldton a hub of innovation. The Young Innovators Competition is showing that todays youth can think of real ways to deal with problems we are facing as a global community. We are expecting the judges that visit Geraldton from the West Tech Fest to be inspired by the ideas that come from the young innovators following last years success. This year in addition to local finalists we also have 12 international entries which will all be competing for the overall $1000 prize. We would like to thank all our sponsors for investing in our youth.
