09.01.2022 Charles Massy joined us to discuss Regenerative Agriculture and how it is potentially relevant for Norfolk Island. Despite some patchy internet connection, Charlie shared some thought provoking and practical ideas such as: How to capture and store more water in our soils to alleviate the stress of dry spells and drought (such as considering where cow grazing occurs) How to grow high nutrient food using natural production methods, and why this is impor...tant in the midst of a global chronic disease crisis The difference between "restoring landscape" and "remediating landscape" and why aspiring to bring back 100% native ecology isn't always the answer How farmers can increase profits by saving up to 90% of their cost of production whilst increasing the carrying capacity of their land His viewpoint on why Norfolk is perfectly positioned to market itself and its products as uniquely regenerative How the global reset initiated by COVID 19 is likely to affect our collective appetite for regeneratively produced food and fibre Why industrial agriculture is a leading cause of climate change AND how regenerative agriculture by contrast is the the number one hope we have for our planet's long term health PLUS a brilliant suggestion on how a cooperative grazing approach on Norfolk could be a game changer for the island's soil fertility, water storage and ecological resilience Here's the recording below if you happened to miss it! https://rdanorfolkisland.org.au/charles-massy-webinar-reco/
