25.01.2022 Training continues: Following on from our RCR training Mon night firefighters had a visit from the FRNSW Breathing Apparatus truck last night. The truck is set ...up to simulate a small apartment fire with persons reported inside. The truck is filled with "smoke" which creates an atmosphere as experienced in a real fire situation with zero visibly but not as much heat. Firefighters use door entry techniques to enter with a charged hose line and carry out a primary and secondary search of the apartment. Last night firefighters managed to rescue all 5 patients from the "burning" apartment and get them to medical assistance. Training continues next week where firefighters will be completing their annual fitness assessments. See more

07.01.2022 On Saturday night at 18:36 Kingscliff Firefighters along with multiple NSW Rural Fire Service stations were responded to reports of a House fire along Duranbah ...Road, Duranbah. On route to the job, large flames and smoke was seen from a distance, so a further Fire and Rescue Pump being Tweed Heads Bravo pump was requested for support in firefighting operations. Upon arrival however it was found to be a very large pile burn on private property. At 18:44 Fire and Rescue NSW Station 468 Tweed Heads along with Fire and Rescue NSW Station 514 Banora Point were responded to a Garage fire in Salt. While it is rare that we would have 2 reported house fires within our area within 15 minutes of each other, it is great to have the support of our neighbouring stations and we thank them for their quick responses on Saturday night. Also a reminder that a permit is required to burn off this time of year. Please seek information from the NSW Rural Fire services website linked below. https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au

03.01.2022 23 November 2020 - Update

02.01.2022 ASBESTOS INCIDENT On Friday the 11th of September, Kingscliff Fire fighters, along with Murwillumbah rural fire service and Tweed Heads Fire Rescue Hazma...t crew were called to Cranneys Road North Tumbulgum to reports of an illegally dumped load of asbestos sheeting down an embankment. On arrival crews found what looked to be a tipper truck equivalent load of asbestos sheeting dumped down a drainage gully. Crews utilised Stotts Creek waste managements asbestos identifying equipment to positively identify it was asbestos. Once positively identified crews carried out a risk assessment of the scene and agreed it was too late to get to work to render the area safe on the Friday as the daylight was running out. This morning at 0900 Kingscliff Crews along with Tweed Heads Hazmat crew and Tweed Heads Bravo appliance were called back to Cranneys Road to start to render the asbestos safe. A safety briefing and contingency plan was carried out with all crew on site before work commenced. Due to the very steep incline, crews started with digging a safe trail for access to the bottom of the gully to access the sheeting. Disposable suits, gloves, masks and safety glasses were all donned and crews got to work wetting down and bagging the asbestos rendering it safe. In total crews spent over 7 hours at this site over the two days. It was challenging and gruelling work by all involved, however everyone got in and got the job done safely and effectively. If you have any information about this dumped asbestos sheeting, report to the Environmental Protection Agency. The website is linked below. https://www.epa.nsw.gov.au/ This kind of dumping not only is a health risk to humans, but causes massive effects on the environment in which it is dumped.
