23.01.2022 #LungCancerAwarenessMonth Radiation therapy, when used with other treatments, delivers higher survival rates for lung cancer patients. It can be used for all types of lung cancer but may be delivered in different ways. Advanced and minimally invasive radiation therapy techniques have enabled physicians to target tumours with extreme precision and slightly higher doses of radiation, drastically cutting the length of treatment courses. In some cases, patients only require 3 or ...4 treatments. Speak to your GP to ensure you know about all treatment options. 23.01.2022 Introducing to you an advanced form of radiation therapy Stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), which delivers higher doses of radiation with extreme precision. For cancer patients with early-stage non-small cell lung cancer, SBRT is a promising treatment option and an alternative to open surgery for removal of small to moderately-sized cancers. Its why SBRT is known as a minimally invasive treatment. #LungCancerAwarenessMonth #FightingCancer Talk to your GP to ask a...bout all treatment options. www.radiationtherapy.org.au www.targetingcancer.com.au See more

22.01.2022 For Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, meet Dennis from Toowoomba, QLD, whose access to a local radiation therapy service allowed him to spend more time at home while receiving treatment. Most of my appointments were at 9 am. I would get there for my treatment at about 8.55, be out of the door and on my way home at 9.15. And be home by about 9.35. If I had had to go to Brisbane, it would have taken me most of the day down and back, and I consider myself so lucky being able to ...have it in Toowoomba. Access to radiation therapy saves lives. 21.01.2022 Lung cancer is the leading cause of death from cancer in Australia, killing 25 people each day. Its symptoms often mimic those of other conditions, making the disease harder to diagnose and often diagnosed late. Know the signs to ensure you can ask your GP for an early assessment if necessary. The earlier cancer is detected, the better your outcomes. #LungCancerAwarenessMonth #FightingCancer For more information, visit:... Lung Foundation Australia - www.lungfoundation.com.au See more

06.01.2022 Great article by BCNA CEO Kirsten Pilatti, talking about the benefits of telehealth and hypofractionated radiation therapy for breast cancer patients. Hypofractionated radiation therapy involves delivering fewer, higher doses of radiation. It has been widely adopted as a COVID-19 safety measure, as it reduces the amount of time patients have to spend in hospitals. It is known to produce better outcomes for some breast and prostate cancer patients. ... 02.01.2022 Today we are sharing Natalies story. A breast cancer survivor from Mackay, Queensland, Natalies story reminds us how important it is for cancer patients to receive treatment close to home, so they dont have to battle cancer alone. I wasnt separated from my husband and children and I had my all-important support network right at my side. The alternative was to sit in a hotel ro...om in a strange town feeling isolated from my loved ones. Read more: http://www.radiationtherapy.org.au/testimonials/ #FightingCancer #BreastCancer
