23.01.2022 Paediatrics Referral Pathway & Pre-clinic Questionnaire Dear Parents, we have been working to streamline the patient journey in caring for our paediatric patients and families. Due to complex needs of many of our little ones, it is vital to obtain more information prior to their consultation to ensure that you get the most out of the initial consultation with our paediatricians. This questionnaire provides a starting guide on your journey with us at Regional Specialists and w...ill aid both us and yourself in getting the most up to date information about your child. This can be done at anytime after you have been given a GP referral to see one of our paediatricians. Upon completion, an email will be sent to you with a list of required documentation that you will need to obtain and send us prior to your consultation. These documents will be reviewed by our team to ensure the best outcome during the consultation. Pathway: 1. Obtain GP referral to one of our paediatricians 2. The referral will be entered into our system for triage on our waitlist and you will receive an SMS confirming this 3. We will call you to book in an appointment according to our waitlist 4. Please make sure you have obtained and sent us the documents required 5. Attend appointment! If you have any enquires or require assistance, please email us on [email protected] or visit https://www.regionalspecialists.com.au/paediatrics/

23.01.2022 Regional Specialists welcomes Dr Anvy Antoo to Tamworth. Dr Antoo has recently joined Tamworth Regional Referral Hospital as a local General Medicine physician. As a General Medicine consultant, Dr Antoo specialises in the management of complex medical conditions in adults. Whilst having a special interest in cardio-respiratory conditions, Dr Antoo has extensive experience in managing patients who have recently been discharged from hospital or the emergency department in the ...form of rapid access clinics. These clinics are designed to review patients within 5 days of discharge from hospital to improve subacute post-discharge care for those at highest risk of re-admission to hospital. Currently, we offer Rapid Access Clinics for patients discharged from the hospital or ED with the following conditions. - Transient ischaemic attacks & ministrokes - Chest pain - Syncope (faints) Furthermore, we have organised new agreements with various local providers to be able to provide initial diagnostic services including echocardiograms and MRIs at no out of pocket costs to reduce barriers to quality and timely care. https://www.regionalspecialists.com.au/gener/dr-anvy-antoo/

21.01.2022 Dear members of the community, Due to the high demand for paediatric appointments, our paediatric wait list has now exceeded 6 months. We are in the process of redesigning our referral pathways to streamline the patient journey for paediatric patients with developmental and behavioural conditions. After much consideration, we have made the decision to temporarily close our paediatric books for the rest of the year. We aim to reopen it in early 2020 with a much more streamlin...ed process with additional clinicians and providers. Families who have already received a text stating they have been added to our waitlist will still remain on the waitlist. Any referral received after 15th of November will not be triaged until the new year. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and we look forward to announcing some new exciting services. Drs Kate Bryan (General Paediatrician) Mian Bi (Managing Director) Regional Specialists Tamworth

16.01.2022 Mindfulness is the psychological process of bringing one's attention to experiences occurring in the present moment, which one can develop through the practice of meditation and through other training. Mindfulness has been shown to reduce levels of stress and burnout (disengagement and exhaustion), improving an individual's mental wellbeing. Anxiety, stress and burnout often makes physical symptoms of disease worse and is something that is increasingly recognised as a compone...nt of holistic care. At Regional Specialists Tamworth, we have collaborated with Mobio Interactive to offer one month free trial of Am Mindfulness for our patients and the community. (P.S. you can share this link with your friends if you find this useful.) #mindfulness #mentalhealth

06.01.2022 OPEN LETTER REGARDING EAR NOSE AND THROAT SERVICES Dear Members of the Community, Regional Specialists Tamworth has had the privilege of hosting two Ear Nose and Throat Surgeons who provide outpatient consultations in our clinic. They have also been granted operating privileges at Tamara Private Hospital since early 2019 and have performed a number of operations there.... However, we have been unable to offer tonsillectomy operations locally due to the small but present risk of post-operative bleeding which has the potential to be catastrophic without emergency theatre access. Since the end of 2018, we have been in constant negotiations with Tamworth Regional Referral Hospital and by extension Hunter New England Local Health District in order to obtain access to the public hospital. A service proposal for a weekly or fortnightly theatre list, as well as emergency theatre access was put forth. This will allow us to provide for our public patients that do not have access to private health insurance and at the same time enable us to perform tonsillectomies locally. Regretfully, on the 2nd of August 2019, I was informed by the Tamworth Hospital general manager that the proposal has been rejected due to lack of funding. As a result, we have arranged to offer tonsillectomy operations in Sydney for all our private and self-funded patients. For all public patients that require any operative management, we are currently working on a pathway to streamline access to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle or elsewhere in Sydney. Currently, we have existing streamlined pathways for: - any patients with diagnosed or suspected cancers and - paediatric patients assessed and deemed to be clinically urgent. We will continue to offer ENT consultations and assessments at our clinic for all patients and continue to operate out of Tamara Private Hospital. Over the coming week, we will be calling all existing patients who are affected by this development to make appropriate arrangements. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Best regards and yours sincerely, Dr Bi, Mian BMedSci MBBS PhD Medical & Managing Director Regional Specialists Tamworth
