15.01.2022 LODDON MURRAY COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP PROGRAM 2021 | Expressions of interest opening soon! Loddon Murray will soon begin taking expressions of interest for the 2021 LMCLP cohort. Each year approximately 25 participants from across the Loddon Murray region embark on the experience of a lifetime to:... build their skills and confidence; hear about regional issues and innovative ideas for action; meet leaders from all walks of life; expand their networks; learn more about themselves and increasing their effectiveness; and discover ways they can as community leaders make a difference in their community and industries that they are passionate about. The program runs between February and November each year and accepts up to 25 participants annually with the aim of reflecting the diversity of the communities living and working within our region. 14.01.2022 Large-scale emergencies boost social capital. When the fire season of 2019-20 started to consume townships and displace communities around coastal New South Wales, East Gippsland and the Adelaide Hills, the outpouring of community assistance initially outpaced the official offerings. Social media campaigns to generate money and accommodation took off. Community organisations and spontaneous informal collectives organised donation points for essential items (water, food, clothing) and partnered with small-scale voluntary logistics operations to get assistance to people who’d been forced to flee from their homes.

The study analyzed self-generated text from more than 1,700 participants who performed a sentence-completion task regarding their experience alone and their social experience when in the company of others.
