25.01.2022 If you're looking to boost your immunity with Chinese medicine I can help you with herbs (individually tailored to treat where your body needs help in building good zheng qi- immunity), acupuncture, recipes and acupressure points that you can do yourself at home. *We should always be focused on maintaining our health and this includes emotional health, stress relief and following facts, not fear <3 https://www.rehmanniahealth.com.au/
25.01.2022 I have often treated cases of acne in adults. Along with the internal treatments (which is where acne stems from) using herbs, acupuncture and diet suited to the individual case, I always recommend oil cleansing for external care. It's an ayurvedic technique using the principle that oil dissolves oil. There are many low comedogenic oils you can use, but my favourites are tamanu, jojoba and hemp oils.
24.01.2022 Mindfulness and meditation can be a daily practice that is easy and makes a huge different to how you experience life and connect to spirituality. Along with a myriad of positive effects it helps qi flow and calms the mind. We see the mind as the spirit or 'shen'. The shen travels between the physical brain and heart. During the day the shen resides in the brain and at night it returns to the heart to sleep and get nourished.... We need a calm shen so our perceptions of the world around us and our self reflections are clear and accurate.
24.01.2022 Chinese medicine offers great treatments for hormonal/menstrual/fertility related issues. Often women are prescribed the Pill for menstrual issues, as well as a contraceptive. The Pill turns off a natural physiological process (ovulation) that then in our school of thought effects the entire body in various ways depending on your constitution (for example: bloating, weight gain, depression, fatigue, anger, irritability, headaches, hair loss, sub fertility issues when coming ...off the Pill, or a difficult menopause later in life). Chinese medicine offers great wholistic treatments for all menstrual problems, naturally balancing the body and restoring health. If your reproductive system needs some TLC after Pill usage or due to a health condition feel free to come and try some acupuncture and herbs :).
24.01.2022 Hey everyone, I have an opening for a client on Tuesday at 10:30. If you want to book in fir herbs and/ or acupuncture just give me a call.
23.01.2022 It's getting chilly in the hills! Chinese medicine is great for boosting your immune system naturally to fights off colds and flu with herbs, acupuncture, diet and lifestyle recommendations. We differentiate between types of colds so one home remedy that you may be used to using such a ginger tea/peppermint tea or a hot tottie etc may be good for some colds but may exacerbate others!
22.01.2022 Fresh English hawthorn. The Chinese use a type of native hawthorn (shan zha) to treat fatty food accumulation (meats), high cholesterol, hypertension, heart disease, diarrhoea and to move blood stasis.
19.01.2022 My clinic will be reopening January 18th. Please call or email to book an appointment. I’ll see you all in the new year
19.01.2022 http://www.organicauthority.com/benefits-of-wheatgrass.html Wheatgrass is a great addition to the diet for many people. However differential diagnosis is still needed. Dried wheatgrass is best for those who have more 'cold' and raw is best for those who have more 'heat' in their bodies. ... For those who have trouble digesting wheatgrass, barely grass is a good alternative with nearly identical qualities. With the amount of pollutants/radiation/heavy metals/stress etc we are all exposed to these days it is good to think of ways to mitigate the effects of these. **Please note that I do not recommend the smoothie recipe on this link. Chinese medicine diets do not include frozen/ cold temperature foods to ensure the digestion is protected.
19.01.2022 As the colder weather comes forward I like to remind my clients how important it is to drink room temperature or warm drinks. It is essential to not put out your digestive fire or yang qi. Most of our bodies nourishment comes from our food and water intake and we want to have a good ability to extract the nutrition from our food.
19.01.2022 My clinic will be closing June 1st as I get ready to birth my second baby. I will still be doing health posts during my extended maternity leave, so please keep looking me up . ... I have also started up an instagram page. Much love x
19.01.2022 I have been doing my updates on the corona virus and how treat and prevent it with herbal medicine. Facetime consults available. However what is most important at this time where media and social media are spinning a lot of misplaced fear and anxiety to the healthy population is to practise centering ourselves and adding practices such as yoga, mindfulness and meditation to our lives. https://www.smilingmind.com.au/
17.01.2022 Rehmannia Health will be closed on Tuesday's from December 12th to January 21st. Saturdays will remain open. :)
17.01.2022 Did you know our external environment also influences out health, along with diet, lifestyle and the emotions? In the hills we have a lot of beautiful mists, this is what we call environmental dampness. Dampness can manifest in the body as arthritis, phlegm, cysts, loose stools, heavy head/legs, fatigue, loss of appetite, bloating etc. ... We can generate damp internally and the environmental dampness can seep in too. Some home practices that can help sift damp are to include warming spices in your diet (ginger, garlic, cinnamon, cumin), green and black tea, always having warm temperature foods, regular exercise. Avoiding dairy, cold temperature food and drink items, sugar and tropical fruits. * I offer more extensive information in my health consults.
16.01.2022 Emotional health is important to me. I always ask how my clients are going emotionally. It is especially important in Chinese medicine as each organ is linked to an emotion and the balance of this emotion influences the functioning of its paired organ. Christmas time can bring up a lot of emotions for people, so it is good to check in with yourself and try to create the balance you need. Self care is so important.
16.01.2022 I have one appointment available on Tuesday 5th February at 11:30. Please contact me if youd like this spot.
13.01.2022 I have 2 openings for appointments on Tues morning. Give me a call or message to book in if you're interested. :)
13.01.2022 Chinese medicine is great for building your immune system with herbs, diet and acupuncture. Food for thought. https://www.afr.com//does-having-a-flu-vaccine-every-year-
12.01.2022 Happy New Year! I hope everyone was kind to their bodies last night and continues to care for their health in the new year. It is a good time to set new goals today. My goal is to have more self care and to make some diet changes that are appropriate for my constitution. ... I will be reopening the clinic on Tuesdays January 22nd. In march I will be closing the clinic on Saturday's due to a month of weddings :). Tuesdays will still be open in March.
11.01.2022 My clinic will be continuing normal business hours (Monday and Tuesday mornings and Saturday all day. I will be offering discounts to health care card holders. I know this is a time of stress for a lot of people, so I want to ensure everyone can access my health care. ... Also I will be offering facetime herbal medicine and individualised dietary therapy advise consults for those not wanting to leave their homes.
11.01.2022 As we move into the colder months we start to use more warming spices in our cooking. Here are some common herbs and spices that we use in our herbal formulas and what they do in your body: Galangal (Gao Liang Jiang): Enters the spleen and stomach channel. Warms these organs and alleviates pain due to cold organs.... Dried ginger (Gan Jiang): Enters the heart, lung, spleen and stomach meridians. Warms the centre, restores yang (prolapse, constant diarrhoea, fatigue, poor digestion etc), transforms cold phlegm in the lungs and stops bleeding due to cold. Chilli (La Jiao): Enters the lung, stomach, spleen and heart. It circulates qi and blood, transform damp, expels cold and external wind (colds/flu). It is also good for Winter time arthritis (wind-cold-damp).
11.01.2022 Dampness is very common due to our diets and lifestyle these days. Dampness is shown by conditions such as congested sinuss, fatigue, candida overgrowth, fatigue, low appetite, foggy thinking and loose stools just to name a few examples. Here is a good article to outline some basic dietary principles to assist those with dampness.... * Please note the the spleen refers to the digestive function is Chinese medicine. https://helenabarker.com//08/18/dampness-how-to-resolve-it/
11.01.2022 My clinic will be reopening January 18th. Please call or email to book an appointment. Ill see you all in the new year
10.01.2022 Chinese medicine is great at helping the body and mind adapt and cope with stress and anxiety. Having a holistic approach it helps you also get a better understanding at how to modify your diet and lifestyle to help. On a light hearted note, a message from our local community.
10.01.2022 I have just updated my knowledge in treating emotional trauma with CT Holman's "Untangling Emotional Trauma" webinar. In Chinese medicine emotional health is essential as each organ relates to an emotion, so unless we balance our emotions we will have imbalances in our physical body. I work a lot with emotions, so I am excited to have new skills in this area.
10.01.2022 While most of us interested in living holistically are diet conscious sometimes we forget that the packaging our food comes in can pose a risk to our health. Tinned food contains BPA chemicals which are shown to increase the chances of breast and prostate cancer as well as diabetes, heart disease and obesity. A low level exposure of BPA can also effect the development of breast tissue. https://www.telegraph.co.uk//does-canned-food-cause-cancer/
09.01.2022 In the hills, where my clinic is, there is an abundance of self heal or 'Xia Ku Cao' growing wild. We use this beautiful herb in Chinese medicine. Xia Ku Cao enters the gallbladder, liver, kidney and lung meridians. It has a bitter flavour and a cold energetic temperature.... It treats conditions such as painful red eyes, eye pain that is worse at night, hypertension, goitre and scrofula of the neck, swollen glands and lymph nodes. Even though this is a weed here, I love that I'm surrounded by useful plants.
09.01.2022 Our current health climate and the responses to finding the 'solution' are impacting mental and social health significantly. My heart goes out to all the families effected by suicide. This pandemic in the wholistic health sector has shown the extent of chronic poor health (not only in the elderly and immunocompromised, but in the whole population). We are over fed, but under nourished and over medicated, but still no closer to health. There is a high rate of low-moderate chr...onic illness's effecting people's quality of life. We may live longer but we have less quality of life quite often. The 'silver bullet' of yet another new (and rushed) vaccine is a scary prospect for those wholistically minded. I am not fully against all vaccines, however there is no public knowledge of which ones contain higher ratios of dangerous adjuvants and which age groups are more likely to suffer adverse outcomes from vaccinations (particularly from the increased schedule these days). The vaccine industry is a very wealthy one and wants to stay that way...money is to be made $$ ;). I'd like to offer some VERY simple tips of boosting your immunity, as we all need to bring things back to being simple in these chaotic times. 1. Reduce/eliminate refined sugar and dairy 2. Reduce processed foods and meats 3. Eat whole-foods and plenty of vegetables that are in season (nature gives us what we need in each season. Eastern medicine is big on this, as our bodies and qi go through cycles with the seasons) 4. Include chicken bone broth (organic frames) 5. Get outside and away from screens as much as possible 6. Mindfullness and meditation 7. Social contact. Walk with a buddy (obviously sticking to rules). Zoom with friends and family. Stay connected and in touch and reach out to others when you need. Very sweet and simple tips :).
09.01.2022 I have just updated my knowledge on supporting infertility and IVF at Peter Kingtons seminar .
08.01.2022 I have just completed Julian Scott's (paediatric senior acupuncturist) course in Childhood Vaccinations. Before I go on maternity leave please contact me if you wish to get information and resources on the pros and cons of vaccines and what you can do to minimise and identify the damage they cause with acupuncture and herbs. :)
07.01.2022 Acupuncture and herbs are great for boosting your immune system to fight off colds and flu. The immune system or your wei qi is a yang qi that circulates in the superficial layers of the body. It functions include opening and closing the pores to regulate sweating, warming the skin and defending the body from exterior pathogens. The lungs control the wei qi, so if your lung qi is deficient your wei qi will suffer. ... The spleen/digestion plays an important role in building your wei qi by extracting nutrients from your diet. Lastly the kidneys also play a role as they are the source of your essence /original qi and wei qi is transformed from the kidney yang. Therefore we ensure all three jiaos of the body; upper, middle and lower are functioning to their best to keep your immune system healthy wholistically.

07.01.2022 My friend has started making a fully natural sunscreen that offers great protection. Chemical sunscreen works well in preventing sunburn but has many concerning chemical ingredients. I use winki zinc on myself and my daughter. https://www.winkizinc.com.au/

04.01.2022 A lot of my clients in Winter especially get handed my recipe for chicken stock/bone broth as it has such wide spread benefits. Our modern diets are generally lacking in nutrient dense food and broths/stocks, which have been used traditionally in everyday cooking and for medicinal purposes. CHICKEN STOCK/BONE BROTH... INGREDIENTS: 2 small chicken carcasss (free range or organic) 2 large carrots I large onion 3 gloves garlic 3 sticks of celery salt pepper 4 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar rosemary sage thyme METHOD: 1. Cut up all vegetables. 2. Place chicken carcasss, vegetables and remaining ingredients in a large pot (8-9L). 3. Bring to boil and then simmer very gently for 8-12 hours. 4. Drain stock and discard vegetables and carcasss. Leave stock to cool and then place in the fridge. Once the stock has become chilled skim off fat. 5. Stock can be used straight away or frozen. *Please add vinegar it draws out the calcium from the bones. This is a recipe to nourish qi, blood and jing (essence). This is good for women in all gynecological stages of their life due to the loss/use of blood, and jing through menstruation, pregnancy/birth and breastfeeding. However it is also equally beneficial for men and boosts sperm quality. Bone broth benefits the joints, hair, skin and nails and reduces inflammation, boosts immunity, restores gut health and supplements the blood and vital energy. Compounds in bone broth: gelatin, collagen, proline, glutamine, glycine, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, silicon, glucosamine.
04.01.2022 Chicken Liver Pate Ingredients: 600g chicken livers (organic or free range to avoid high concentrations of chemicals, which are process by the liver) 100g butter... 1 tbls chopped thyme 2 tbls brandy 1 onion 2 cloves garlic 1 bay leaf salt and pepper to taste Method: Melt butter in pot and add chopped onion and garlic, cook until onions are soft. Wash and pat dry livers with paper towel and trim any fat or discoloured spots off. Add to butter mix, along with brandy, bay, thyme, salt and pepper and cook for around 10 mins or until liver is cooked through. Let mix cool for 20 mins and then blend up. Place in a bowl and cover with a plastic or wax wrap. Refrigerate. **Chicken livers strengthen the kidney and liver, they assist in the treatment of childhood malnutrition, blurred vision, urinary incontinence, impotence, and a tendency to miscarry. Liver's are great for helping to rebuild blood, in particular 'liver blood', which nourishes hair growth, dry nails and skin, poor eye sight, builds good endometrial lining and nourishes muscles preventing tightness and cramps, and also assists in some types of insomnia, dizziness and depression.
04.01.2022 Modern science has recently found the link between the mind and the gut. However this has been known for thousands of years in Chinese medicine. The health of your digestion is essential for balanced moods and mental resilience, not to mention the myriad of other essential functions in the body that reply on healthy digestive function. The digestion is alway a strong focus in our treatments because of this, and also due to the fact that our diet and lifestyles these days do... not support digestive health. We use herbs (tailor made formula's, as everyone is different), acupuncture and diet to ensure the digestion is nurtured. A good (and cheap) way to ensure your diet is supporting your overall digestive health is to eat fermented foods. You can make your own komboucha, kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi or buy miso paste etc. Add fermented foods in slowly. You need your gut flora balance to change slowly or else you may end up feeling bloated, flatulent or have diarrhoea.
02.01.2022 I am lucky to have some great companies that dispense my herbal formulas for me. All the herbs that I use in my clinic are quality herbs that are pesticide, herbicide, heavy metal and bacteria free. I also provide several options to make sure all clients needs are met. These include raw, granulated or liquid herbs in my practice.
