13.01.2022 Winter Holiday Program is LIVE! and ready for bookings! We are so happy to be able to provide services to our great community again for the school holidays, we have missed you all so so so much! Work Shop 'VS' Create & Play Session ... Daily we are offering a workshop which is a 3 hour hands on learning instructed session where we work towards finishing a take home project. Slow paced demonstrations of each step and plenty of time and encouragement for the children to complete to their ability. SO EXCITED!! Wood work has been re introduced along with paint pouring (fluid art) which i know the kids will <<<< LOVE>>>> its loud, its messy and its crazy good FUN! .....AND....... Create & Play Sessions are making a come back this holiday program. Children work through a selection of 5 art and craft based activities. These are a combination of short directed activities and freestyle creative expression. Often these activities will stem from a book we have shared or each table will have a prompting theme to get their imaginations turning over. Some activities are a take home project and others are more play based. No two sessions are exactly the same. Enrolments are open as of NOW!! Bookings are very limited spaces due to COVID 19 restricitions. We remain flexible offering early drop off and late pick up with prior notice. Cost: $30pp; Full Day Booking available and Family Discount Offered. NO DOOR SALES. Contact 0473 495 244 or [email protected]

09.01.2022 http://GOOD NEWS STORY LIVING LANEWAYS Five local artists have, begun work on an Art Project, which will transform a well-used public laneway into an outdoor exhibit...ion space, with 24/7 all-abilities access. With limited venues for artists to exhibit in Portland, ‘Living Laneways’ has been designed as a display facility, with a goal to building cohesive connections between the creative disciplines and integrating art into community life. The production of five contemporary artworks will reflect the respective Julia St Creative Space studio practices of painting, printmaking, fibre work, woodturning and leadlighting. Don’t expect to see a patchwork quilt or an historic window panel, however. The Artist’s Brief is to interpret the skills, techniques and aesthetics of the group in a work requiring the viewer to contemplate the final concept, says Coordinator, Robyn McDonald. The project is being financially supported by, United Way Glenelg, Regional Arts Victoria and the Glenelg Shire Council. After the huge success of the Abandoned Events Portland fundraiser in November, where local artists contributed to the intrigue of the evening, United Way Glenelg Executive Officer Nicole Carr offered a significant amount of the proceeds towards an artist driven project, enabling additional funds to be applied for via state and local government grants. Ms McDonald hopes similar projects can involve professional artists working with local youth, to provide opportunities and a sense of place and acknowledgement of their emerging talents. Such spaces improve livability of an environment, encourage participation in the arts, and support improved health and wellbeing across a community. ‘Living Laneways’ will be viewable from mid June, via social media, if necessary. A launch will be scheduled when the community can again come together and celebrate the works in a physical gallery experience. Image Caption. Artists Therese Coffey, Rory Carter, Phil Cousins, Bob Stone and Andrew Walsh familiarise themselves with the space they will be transforming. #unitedwayglenelg #unitedway
