22.01.2022 Seeing as though our Beauty services have yet again been stripped away from us and I know many of you will be doing your own nails in this time (myself included), I thought I would film myself doing my nails using the Nitro & Gelish Dip Powder system (just another version of SNS) and give you tips on how to get longevity out of your nails and prevent lifting! To be honest I find these products to have strong odour this is why I don’t offer it in the salon but it’s definitely an easy option for everyone to use at home! If you have any further questions reach out, enjoy xx

21.01.2022 Prins Plasma Response is a result of increased blood flow. This amazing mask stimulates the circulatory system. As a result of this toxins & waste etc are removed via our lymphatic system and the increased blood supply to the area delivers vital nutrients and oxygen to the skin cells. In this IGTV you will see how the mask is specially applied over the décolletage, neck and face, targeting lymph nodes to activate lymphatic drainage in the area. The mask remains on the skin ...for 45mins, during this time the client will feel a pulsating sensation, especially in the area closest to the lymph nodes. This is completely normal and necessary for increased blood flow. During this in salon treatment clients are treated to a relaxing scalp and hand massage to unwind and de stress. An at home version of this mask is also available with 4-5 applications within the Kit (for further information please contact). Enjoy and comment below if you want to try this amazing mask when the salon reopens xx See more

19.01.2022 between the moodiness, cramps and bloating caused by PMS, the last thing we want to see are big red pimples when we look in the mirror, but unfortunately majority of us do! Period Acne usually starts showing up to 7-10 days before the onset of their period and then start to subside once bleeding begins. In the first half of our menstrual cycle (follicular phase) estrogen is at its highest level and estrogen is responsible for keeping our skin calm, hydrated ...and bouncy. In the second half of our cycle (luteal) progesterone levels increase which stimulate our oil glands, skin can also swell and pores are compressed, as a results our pores look tiny, but this can lead to sebum (oil) build up beneath the skins surface, further blocking pores and trapping oil and this is the perfect environment for the P acne bacteria to thrive. As our period approaches our estrogen and progesterone fall to their lowest levels, however our testosterone (small amounts in women) levels stay constant all month, therefore our testosterone levels are much higher than estrogen and progesterone before and during our period. So what does this mean for our skin then? In addition to sebum being stimulated in the second half of our cycle and pores being compressed via increased levels of progesterone, you will then see a further increase to oil flow with testosterone levels also increased before and during our period, facilitating an environment that’s perfect for the P acne bacteria, resulting in increased breakouts and inflammation. To help support our skin during this time, we need to increase our EFAs intake to help balance hormone levels and change the quality of our sebum being produced. Zinc has such great benefits for our skin during this time as it helps to regulate oil flow, improve wound healing, fight against bacteria and reduce inflammation. The Vita-sol Purity Powder contains Zinc and is the perfect internal supplement to help reduce and prevent Period Acne. I’ve also added the skin juice products in the next slides that can be beneficial in preventing/reducing Period acne. If you have any questions further questions please send a DM xx

19.01.2022 tattoo is by no means blocky, but a soft powdery finish that looks like you've justpowdered/filled inyourbrows. Combined with a few subtle Microbladed hair strokes that taper off as you come to the inner part of the eyebrow (hence the name Combination Brows). Using a cosmetic tattoo machine, hundreds of tiny dots of pigment are implanted into the skin which resembles a softpowderfinish. Combined with a hand held tool to create beautiful hair strokes, this type of brow is perfect for someone wanting to transition from Microblading or a more sculpted finish. For more information on this service or to book please email [email protected] or call 0451970920

19.01.2022 ( ) ok so this is now life as we know it, wearing a mask and guess what? wearing a mask for longer periods of time can cause breakouts and acne! How?? Have you heard of Acne Mechanica? This is form of physical acne where friction causes irritation on the skin and the retention of heat and moisture causing further irritation! Early on your skin may feel rough or bumpy with a feeling of sensitivity. ... The constant friction causes tiny breaks in the skin barrier (the roof of our skin), this allows bacteria, pathogens, oil, dirt and makeup to enter the skin. These tiny breaks in our skin barrier can also lead to moisture loss aka dehydration, which we all should know by now is the first step towards many inflammatory skin conditions. The heat and moisture that is retained underneath the mask creates a humid environment which also causes clogging or the pores and the P acne bacteria love to thrive in a non oxygenated environment! Maskne can be identified as tiny little pimples, whiteheads with small amount of sensitivity on the skin. How do you know if it’s your mask causing your breakouts though? Well the acne/breakouts will only show up in the area of constant friction ie. under your mask and may have not been present before wearing a mask! How can we treat Maskne? - wear a clean mask daily - have periods of the day (as much as you can) where you are not wearing a mask - cleanse your skin in the evening - use nourishing and soothing balms, cleanses and serums to help rebuild your barrier function (my faves are Green Juice, Smudge Budge, Drench and Bio Juice) - apply a spot treatment to breakouts that are more inflamed ( Liquid Clearing Serum) - don’t over exfoliate! This will make it worse! There is already enough friction happening, exfoliating will only create further irritation to the skin! - try to avoid the paper masks to synthetic fabrics, choose a more breathable cotton If you have any further questions or aren’t sure where your acne is coming from please reach out! Xx

18.01.2022 if you are suffering from breakouts or inflamed acne there could be foods in your diet that are triggering them or making them worse! Dairy, sugar, protein powders, foods high on the glycemic index, spirulina, algae and seaweed can all trigger acne/breakouts. Evidence suggests that removing these foods could help to reduce acne/breakouts. Remove these foods for a trial period and see if your acne/breakouts improve!

14.01.2022 so you have come off the Pill and your skin has lost the plot or it’s months later and it’s still playing up. You’re most likely thinking, that by you coming off the Pill it’s now caused your skin to change and not for the better! The pill (particularly ones containing more oestrogen) is a treatment for skin issues, hence why as a teenager many of us are prescribed the pill to control acne. Please note here when I say control acne not fix the root cause!... The pill controls acne by reducing levels of sebum (oil) being produced in our skin, therefore reducing the risk of pores being clogged by excess sebum which is the side effect of increased levels of Testosterone. Testosterone stimulates sebum production and if we have increased levels flowing through our body, our oil glands begin to produce an over abundance of oil, which is usually on the thicker side therefore clogging the pores! Coming off the Pill doesn’t necessarily cause skin issues, it just removes the treatment that was controlling the problem for the period of time whilst you were on the pill. For those who went on the pill though with no skin issues prior and may now be experiencing skin issues after coming off the pill, this is most likely due to the fact that being on the pill has caused damage to the gut and the microbiome present there. This can create inflammation within our body (which shows up on our skin), affect how our body absorbs nutrients and our liver ability to detoxify toxins, waste and excess hormones. The pill can also deplete us of important nutrients that our skin depends on such as Zinc, magnesium, vit B and iron! Due to a rebound of testosterone and our ovaries trying to get back into the swing of producing progesterone and oestrogen our cycles can remain irregular for up to 6 months sometimes longer therefore continuing to cause issues with our skin! To support our body and skin health pre or post pill, we need to repair gut health, support liver function and reduce inflammation on the skin which repairing and maintaining health barrier function. I have the perfect remedies for you so reach out and let’s get your glow back See more

13.01.2022 & do we need to change up our products for our skin in winter? Well yes, some of us do! Why? Because we tend to become more susceptible to moisture loss in winter due to hotter showers, increased use of heating and the lower levels of humidity in the air. The uppermost layers of our skin are called the stratum corneum you can liken this to the roof of our house. Our roof protects us from the external elements and keeps all the warmth inside. Our ...stratum corneum protects us from harmful bacteria and pathogens from entering our skin and prevents moisture from escaping. Our roof, the stratum corneum is made up of skin cells that have now completely flattened and hardened. If these keratinised cells become severely dried out this now creates openings in the skin barrier (the roof starts loosing tiles!). When this happens moisture begins to escape through the gaps and bacteria, pathogens and irritants begin to enter the skin creating inflammation! Leading to dry, inflamed or itchy skin! Therefore you made need to adjust your cleanser, serum, moisturiser/oil. A few products from the skin juice range which are very well suited to a winter skin are.... - Drench Cleanser - Smudge Budge Cleanser - Bio Juice - Super Drink Serum - Flower Juice - Green Juice - Superfood Oil - Vanilla Honey Mask - Bright Eyes Night Oil If you have any questions about which products you should be using on your skin please reach out xx See more

12.01.2022 won’t fix your skin issues! Your skin cells have a life cycle and from birth to the moment they naturally slough off and become part of the dust in your house (gross I know), have a job to do! The upper most layers of your skin the Stratum Corneum which you can liken to the roof of a house, is not made up of dead skin cells! How can they be dead when they are still relaying messages to all the other cells within our skin. These cells within our Stra...tum Corneum are called keratinocytes and they are fully developed adult skin cells capable of producing a healthy and functioning skin barrier or the roof of the house. With any skin issue, often the go to approach to fix skin, is to exfoliate away any evidence that something is wrong. This won’t fix your skin! It will only break down your healthy skin barrier (causing dehydration and openings for irritants, bacteria and pathogens to enter) throwing undeveloped, younger skin cells to the surface before the are ready to do their job properly. When we peel, abrade, exfoliate at a rate that’s faster than what our skin cells can keep up with, you will start to see such inflammatory skin conditions such as acne, eczema, redness, sensitivity and increased or decreased oil flow. I’m not saying that we can never exfoliate again, but a healthy functioning skin will only need to be exfoliated 1-2x a week max, with an exfoliant suitable to their skin (not everyone’s skin can tolerate a scrub). A healthy skin will have the natural ability to slough off keratinocytes. To achieve this you must produce healthy skin cells from the beginning of their life. Things such as stress, lifestyle factors, diet etc will have a great inspect on how healthy our skin cells are and are in full control of this. So before you reach for the peel or scrub for the 4-5th time in one week, take a look at other factors first! See more

12.01.2022 is the term I would use for anyone who has become hesitant towards using oils on their skin, due to previous bad experiences with oil based products. Well I’m here today to tell you DONT BE SCARED! Yes I’m text yelling haha in a nice way though! When you use the correct type of oils on your skin (even if you are oily and blemish prone) your skin will benefit immensely! ... Not all oils are created equal! So you have tried oils and balms in the past and they literally have felt like they just sat on the surface of your skin, feeling heavy, greasy and after 2-3 days of use, your skin felt irritated and started breaking out?! Hello synthetic oils and paraffins! These types of oils are unable to be absorbed and utilised by our skin, therefore they just coat the surface and clog. Nutrient dense plant derived oils on the other hand have the ability to be absorbed and utilised, through intercellular channels (you can liken these to the mortar in between our skin cells, that create our barrier function within the stratum corneum. These intercellular lipid materials are made up of ceramides, fatty acids etc oils! Therefore a good quality plant derived oil can be absorbed well throughout the upper layers of the skin, with up to 11% reaching the dermis!!) far more faster and deeper results than a cream moisturiser can achieve. Skins suffering from congestion, breakouts, acne and oily skin types need to have good oils in their skin to nourish and protect. Most of those suffering from congestion and breakouts are usually lipid dry. Meaning their skin isn’t producing good quality oils that protect and nourish the skin creating a strong acid mantle and barrier. Introducing nutrient dense plant derived oils to the skin will repair acid mantle and barrier function as well improve sebum (oil) quality, lessening congestion and breakouts! My three favourite products from the Skin Juice range that enrich the skin with nourishing oils in the evening, to feed and protect the skin, whilst allowing a breathable barrier so the skin can regulate over night, are Superfood Oil, Re Juice Oil and Green Juice Balm. Any further questions please reach out xx

11.01.2022 seeing this before and after makes me so happy! This is why I love my job, I get to change skins to help bring my beautiful clients confidence back After trying so many products with no luck, I asked my client to trust me and give me the opportunity to help heal her skin holistically, so she did and look at the results so far Her skin journey isn’t quite over yet but these amazing results were achieved in less then 8 weeks, with adjustments to diet, ski...ncare and adding internal supplements to support skin, liver and gut health and these incredible results were achieved during iso, with only one skin needling session performed prior to closure. When I treat the skin I not only treat what’s happening on the surface, but what going on internally as well. Acne is not only triggered by what’s happening on the surface of our skin, but also to do with our gut health, liver detoxification, nutrition, stress levels & hormones. Working together we adjusted her diet (removing inflammatory foods and refined sugars), increased EFA intake with supplementation (to support healthy skin cells, barrier function and acid mantle, as well as to change the quality of her sebum, from a thick sluggish oil to a healthier thinner more free flowing oil) and Purity Powder from the Vita-sol range (to repair the gut, reduce inflammation, up her zinc levels and support healthy liver detoxification, which in turns helps balance hormones). Combined with repairing her barrier/acid mantle and reducing inflammation with the healing powers of the Skin Juice range, her skin is now on its journey to better health and my client has got her glow back If you are having skin troubles, whether it be acne, rosacea, redness, dryness, sensitivity or concerns with dull skin or ageing please reach out to book your online skin consultation xx

09.01.2022 has three important roles to play in maintaining healthy functioning skin. Our Acid Mantle is our main defender against TEWL (trans epidermal water loss). Which also means, water/moisture escaping from the lower layers of our skin; leading to the cause of most skin disorders- Dehydration which 97% of Australians suffer from! Another function of the Acid Mantle that is so important in preventing inflammation and acne, is creating a strong barrier against... pathogens and harmful bacteria from entering our skin. The Acid Mantle also maintains the skins Ph levels, which should be between 4.5-6.5, an acidic environment that the P acne bacteria can’t survive in. The Acid Mantle is also responsible for the slowing of active ingredients into the skin, which is so important in preventing sensitivity or reactions to products. The Acid Mantle is a layer of oil and water, these oils are a mixture of 85% Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) which are released from your skin cells, cell membrane as it breaks down whilst traveling up to the top layers of the skin and the remaining 15% comes from your oil gland secretions. 85% of the water component comes from the watery fluid substance called Cytoplasm, which is also released from your skin cell as it breaks down. The other 15% comes from your sweat gland secretions. So how do you know if you have an impaired Acid Mantle? You will have the following symptoms... -dry/flaky skin -inflammation/redness -blackheads/congestion/acne -stinging when applying skin care -tightness after you cleanse -dull skin How can you fix it? Increase your EFA intake, this can be done by taking a specially recommended EFA supplement by your skin therapist as well as adding salmon, avocado, chia seeds, flax seeds, extra virgin olive etc This will strengthen your Skin Cells from the beginning of their life creating a strong health cell membrane. You will also need to remove foaming/aha cleanses, exfoliants (peels or scrubs), toners etc and replace with gentle, nourishing products which will help to repair a your Acid Mantle, to prevent any further stripping of the oil layer. If you have any skin concerns reach out xx See more

04.01.2022 & our mindset plays a huge role in helping to maintain our health and wellbeing. Studies have proven that mindfulness practices such as meditation, gratitude, positive self-talk and affirmations can have a positive biological impact, reducing stress producing hormones which in large amounts will have a negative effect on our whole body including our skin. When the body is faced with psychological stress (and this is all linked to mindset, how and what w...e perceive as a threat or trigger to our wellbeing) the body will then produce stress hormones to help us return to a state of equilibrium, but this comes at a cost when occurring long term (chronic stress). Our skin will be effected and this can show up in the form of acne/breakouts, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis and slow/poor wound healing. We will all have our own individual interpretation of the world and what’s going on around us and we will all react differently towards every life experience. You could say we create our own filters as to how we perceive everything we go through in a our daily lives. It’s these filters that we have created from our own past life experiences (all the way back from childhood), that trigger our emotional responses to all that happens to us and this is where mindset plays an important role in reducing that stress hormone response! First of all it’s best to become aware of your triggers, how it makes you feel and why you may react to it with such negative emotions. Now that you become more aware, you can begin to adjust your filters (they way in which you perceive that experience) towards a more positive outlook. By doing so we can change the way our body reacts to that stress trigger and lessen the chemical response, which in turn will support skin health. If you are going through a skin healing journey it’s also essential to come from a positive healing mindset. You need to fully trust that your body can and will heal, given the right environment which includes eating whole and nutritious foods, sleep, exercise, correct skincare as well as managing stress with mindfulness practices and positive self-talk.

04.01.2022 - will prevent the ageing process by reducing the depth of wrinkles in the skin. Fine lines, facial creasing and wrinkles are all an in-evitable part of the ageing process, but this doesn’t mean we can’t slow it down! Firstly I’ll explain the difference between the two different types of facial lines that can develop in the skin and how we can treat both with two very different methods though. Static Wrinkles are the fine lines, light creases or... wrinkles that develop as part of the ageing process. As early as 25 years of age we begin to loose 2% of of collagen and elastin each year So as we age our skin looses elasticity and that plumpness and starts to lax and sag. This type of ageing can also be worsened by smoking, poor diet (high in refined sugars and carbs) sun exposure. This type of ageing can be prevented with treatments that are going to wake up our Fibroblast cells (they help to re grow new collagen and elastin)such as LED Light a therapy, Skin Needling, Laser Rejuvenation etc and anti-ageing ingredients that help to also stimulate collagen and elastin growth and antioxidants to prevent free radical damage to our cells such as Vit C, E, A, B3 & Hyaluronic Acid will help to plump and hydrate. Wear a physical SPF everyday!! Dynamic Wrinkles are facial creases and wrinkles caused by repetitive muscle movements ie. squinting, frowning, raising eyebrows and smiling, over time deepening the creases and wrinkles in that area. Anti-wrinkle injections are muscle relaxants that temporarily freeze the muscles in the targeted area, therefore they can be classified as a preventative to ageing, because the less the muscle is used the more the crease/wrinkle will smooth out. For the best anti-ageing solution I recommend treating both Static and Dynamic Wrinkles, as the treatments for both types of facial wrinkles will compliment each other. Book your FREE consultation answering all your questions regarding Anti-wrinkle injections with Joanne with Joanne (our onsite injector on a Monday when the salon reopens) you can follow her instagram @in_beautyaesthetics Any other questions reach out xx

03.01.2022 Estrogen plays a big role in our skin helping to maintain that healthy glow and bouncy, plump feeling. Unfortunately for us, during peri menopause and menopause our hormone levels begin to drop, especially Estrogen. Within the first five years of menopause we lose up to 30% of our collagen and 2% every year going forward, therefore speeding up the ageing process, with more visible wrinkles, lax sagging skin, enlarged pores etc A decline in Estrogen can a...lso cause dry skin and impaired barrier function, due to the reduction in the beneficial oils in our skin. If left untreated the skin barrier no longer protects as from outside bacteria, pathogens, irritants and TEWL (water loss from the deeper layers) leading to sensitivity, redness, flaky and itchy skin as well as rosacea flare ups. Due to the hormonal roller coaster that is menopause this can create more stress for women. Stress creates increased cortisol which can further dry the skin, but the biggest problem is that when we are stressed our hormones Estrogen, Progesterone and Androgens, take a back seat from their usual jobs and jump onto the stress hormone pathway to help make more cortisol. Which for menopausal women’s skin is not ideal as Estrogen has already dramatically reduced. Estrogen, Progesterone and Androgen decline in menopause, however androgen will not drop as fast. Therefore often leading to an Androgen dominance, this can stimulate oil glands to over produce thick, gluggy sebum, a contributing factor to hormonal acne, showing up along the lower half of the face, neck, chest and back. So how can we support the skin during menopause? -Introduce a high quality collagen powder to stimulate our Fibroblast cells to produce new collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. Vitasol Collagen Boost is my go to! -Increase EFA intake to replenish skin from within to improve skin barrier and improve oil quality that’s being produced. My go to is the Bestow Beauty Oil. -Don’t over cleanse or exfoliate, instead increase replenishing EFAs topically. My go to is Green Juice, Flower Juice & Superfood Oil. -Stress management, decrease sugar, alcohol and caffeine. See more

02.01.2022 we often think- higher the number with an SPF provides you with the best sun protection, however higher the number can often come with an increase in chemicals added to the product. If you look at the % difference between the different levels of SPF you don’t necessarily need an SPF 50, an SPF 15 & 30 physical sunscreen will do the same job without the harsh chemicals that can often cause inflammation in the skin. Lets clear up the difference in num...bers! SPF numbers aren’t so much about the protection rate, as you can see there is minimal percentage difference between them, the numbers are in fact your protection/burn time. If you start to burn after 10 mins you have 10x15minutes= 150 minutes with an SPF 15 to reapply and 10x30minutes= 300 minutes with SPF 30 before you need to reapply. Remember that swimming or sweating can also adjust the timing. Always apply SPF daily even if you are inside or running quick errands and don’t forget that even in winter there are still UVA rays!
