21.01.2022 Nov 8-15 is NAIDOC Week, an annual celebration of the history, culture and achievements of First Nations Peoples. This year’s theme, Always Was, Always Will Be, recognises that our nation’s story didn’t begin with documented European contact, and that First Nations Peoples have occupied this continent for over 65,000 years. The very first footprints on this continent belong to First Nations Peoples. They were our first explorers, scientists, diplomats and artists. Relations...hips Australia Queensland is proud to celebrate NAIDOC Week. Our vision for reconciliation is a just, equitable and sustainable world that acknowledges and respects First Nations Peoples as the sovereign people on whose land we live and work. We recognise their strengths, wisdom, knowledge and expertise, and our Reconciliation Action Plan details our commitment to building stronger, respectful relationships between First Nations Peoples and other Australians. 20.01.2022 "I’ll be happy when it’s Friday, or when I fall in love, or when I get my dream job." Sound familiar? Of course it does! We’re all guilty of falling victim to I’ll be happy when syndrome. But why do we delay happiness until the ‘big thing’ we’re waiting for happens? Even when we achieve the ‘big thing’, we always find something else to chase, and the goalposts keep moving. In our latest blog post, we discuss the difference between conditional and unconditional happiness, and offer tips to stop tying your happiness to a target: https://www.raq.org.au/blog/how-stop-waiting-be-happy

Couples therapy can help you build healthy relationship skills and habits that equip you with the tools to overcome issues that arise together. If you do nothing to improve your relationship over time, even if you aren’t doing something destructive, your relationship will decline." The Gottman Institute explores some of the telltale signs that you and your partner could benefit from couples counselling, and what to do if your partner doesn't want to go.

10.01.2022 A heartfelt congratulations to Aunty Rose, our First Nations Wellbeing Worker and the 2021 Queensland Senior Australian of the Year! Aunty Rose's lifework continues to give voice to the rights of children, families and communities, and the issues of climate change an issue severely affecting her native island in the Torres Strait. She also played an instrumental role in the negotiations of the landmark Meriba Omasker Kaziw Kazipa Bill that passed earlier this year. Aunty ...Rose had this to say about winning the award: This award has made me feel even more determined to continue my work, to serve my people - First Nations people and all the people in the community who I can help. A big part of that is the work I do with RAQ every day with my colleagues across all the venues.
