15.01.2022 DERMAL FILLERS - do’s & don’ts DO: Plan your filler treatment around important events (e.g. weddings, parties) I recommend 2-3 months prior, as this allows for full face planning, healing time, & time for filler to settle in to look & feel natural. Invest in your skin! Have treatments that rejuvenate your skin so that you’re injectables look even more AMAZING! ... Stay hydrated! Filler loves water. Factor in potential bruising & swelling, which can last 24 hours - 10 days. Take, or apply Arnica... or apply Hirudoid cream to minimise bruising (available from the pharmacy). Apply ice to the area intermittently for up to 24 hours after treatment to minimise swelling & bruising. DON’T: Take anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs, Nurofen, Ibuprofen, Voltaren, Aspirin, Turmeric) for 48 hours before or after filler treatments. Drink alcohol 48 hours prior to your treatment. Alcohol has a blood thinning effect and increases the risk for bruising. Exercise for 48 hours after your treatment, as it can increase circulation & compromise results. Wear makeup to your appointment & avoid it for 24-48 hours after your treatment. Allow your skin time to heal. Avoid direct sunlight for 24-48 hours after treatment.
