These old-fashioned shrubs have been developed and improved for Australian gardens. Federation Daisies are Australian-bred Marguerite daisies (Argyranthemum frutescens). Federation Daisies were selected from a breeding program in New South Wales for their compact shape, long flowering, appealing colours including white, lemon yellow, pink and carmine, and their range of flower styles from single to anemone form (slightly larger petals) to double. They also have pest-resistant foliage making them low-care plants. Create a cottage garden feel at home with this beautiful plant. The rapidly growing foliage forms a dense impenetrable hedge that’s ideal for shutting out the prying eyes of neighbours or creating a more sheltered environment for more vulnerable plants. Some Murraya varieties can grow up to a 3m high small tree so it’s really up to you how you want your hedge to look. Fast growing and a good all round plant for beneath trees you get a ground cover with good foliage and the added attraction of flowers. With a few common names including 'Sensation', ‘White Nancy’ and ‘Dead Nettle’, it is the cultivars that are most widely used in gardens and landscaping. Flowers appear in summer appearing as terminal spikes, and will be pink, white or purple depending on the cultivar. This is a spreading plant, and overtime it sends out underground rhizomes and will colonise a good sized area. Botanical Name - Lamium maculatum 'Sensation' Common Name - Lamium Sensation Description - Sensation has beautiful foliage suitable for part sun to full shade areas. The variegated green and silver foliage is complemented by large deep rose pink flowers. Beautiful ground cover for under trees or in shady locations in the garden. The silver foliage adding light to dark gardens. Mixes as a boarder with Viola, Ajuga and Campanula. Flower Time - Spring, Summer, Autumn Size - Grows to 15cm high x 45cm wide. Use -Lamiums are very hardy, low growing ground covers and can be grown as a border, to line pathways, on rock edges or mixed with other perennials to form a lovely cottage garden. Lamiums are also ideal for hanging baskets. Position - Part sun to full shade Maintenance - Prune by half if plant becomes untidy then fertilise and water.
