24.01.2022 Transgender! Thankyou!! As a company we have recently partnered with ACON to ensure that our practices are LGBTI inclusive for our clients and staff members. On behalf of Reliant Healthcare, as I post this message to acknowledge Transgender Remembrance Day and Awareness Week, I would like to share the following story. Recently I have been participating in on-line courses, skype calls, interviews, and meetings to learn as much as I can about healthcare for people who identif...y with the LGBTI community. It has continued to educate me on how our company can be more respectful of people who have often had to live their life in fear and uncertainty when wanting to acknowledge who they really are. Whilst doing this I also learnt that it has had a wonderful effect on my teenagers: My daughter (16) is completing an assignment for school on the effects of television. With her friend over yesterday they were writing and discussing the questions they would include on a survey, the second question regarded gender Friend of daughter Just put male or female Daughter Are you kiddingwhat about people who are transgender, intersex etc etc. Friend of daughter We are only surveying teenagers no-one is going to be put anything but male or female My daughter ok let me explain how it is she then educated her friend on how important it was to be open, non-judgemental and respectful of giving people the opportunity of being themselves, even if it was only on a form. As I walked away from the conversation I smiled to myself, not because I had taught her about people’s rights, but because of the wonderful work that I am able to do to ensure that people, no matter what gender identity or association, are equally cared for. I shared this story also because a 16 year old girl has become more enlightened, educated and hopefully a future champion of people living life their wayand to the transgender, and all LGBTI community.. I say thank you!! (posted by Susan Tredenick) See more
