I write to you as a matter of urgency, by now you all have heard of the imminent threat proposed by our current NSW ...Liberal Party regarding the new Marine Estate Management Strategy . As this is a State Government initiative this affects our members directly, we have reviewed this proposal on behalf of our members & we have grave concerns around its intent & effectiveness. To say this proposal is flawed is a gross understatement, there has been NO scientific analysis or study done prior to this proposal being designed, no survey of stakeholders or investigation into possible economic impacts this will have on the local residence or businesses. The impact this proposal will have on our sport is extensive in many key areas of the NSW coast line, at the very least this will only be the start of a larger more devastating plan that has already been penned by the NPWS called the Thin Blue Line . I’m asking all of our almost 4000 members to stand together on this issue there are several ways we can FIGHT THIS LOCK OUT!! 1. Go to the NSW Marine estate website, click on the link (online submission) and have your say, EVERY NSWGFA member needs to do this at the very least. 2. On the 27th of September 2018 there will be a peaceful rally in the city. People will meet in Hyde Park at 12 pm with a march down Macquarie Street at 1:30 pm. The more people attend the better so please show your support. 3. Download a template and send to your local member to personally voice your concerns. As a member of NSWGFA I urge you all to do as much as you can to protest this assault on our sport and way of life, STAND UNITED AND BE HEARD!
