23.01.2022 Implementing initiatives such as the Feed the Watarrka Community Program is our way of taking action to prevent the virus from affecting the most vulnerable i...n our community. A big thank you to Chris for these kind words: If it were not for the Watarrka Foundation and the support of Reg, none of this would be happening. To the Watarrka community, I hope you are all safe until this is over and that this epidemic doesn’t take too many of our loved ones. - Chris Hakanson, Primary Health Care Manager To make a donation to the project, follow the link: https://bit.ly/2R5LrfA

18.01.2022 SLOW DOWN! TERRITORY KIDS BACK AT SCHOOL Northern Territory Police would like to remind the public that today is the last day of the school holidays and most Te...rritory kids will be heading back to school tomorrow! Police are urging motorist’s to slow down in school zones and pay extra attention around schools. Police will be conducting active patrols of school zones enforcing the 40 km/h speed limits. Most school zones are 40km/h between the hours of 7:00am and 5:00pm on school days. Police take a zero tolerance approach to speeding in school zones. Drivers caught speeding face fines starting from $190 and will incur loss of demerit points, or worse, loss of licence. In addition to speeding, police will be targeting other dangerous practices such as talking on mobile phones, people stopping or parking on or near school crossings which obstructs the visibility of other drivers. Let’s make sure we get our kids back to school safely, by slowing down, paying extra attention, and being courteous around school zones.

15.01.2022 Inspired by the power of education, our Founder and Director Richard Reg Ramsden established Remote Tours. Remote Tours is an educationally based, culturally ...aware tour company that has a strong emphasis on interaction with Aboriginal people and culture. They have worked with many prominent schools from Australia's large cities and frequently organise educational tours into central Australia. This month we spoke to a handful of schools who have had the privilege of visiting the Watarrka region over the years. 14.01.2022 Can you keep a secret?.if yes read below or scroll on :-) An undercover operative is stationed out at Lilla for Project Lilla Shield (Watarrka Feed the Community Program). Feeding the local Watarrka community hopefully will keep them safe and encourage them to stay in the community, not having to travel to town for food and supplies. Intra-Territory Road blocks are now in position heading to Alice Springs and those that decide to head to town will have to quarantine for two weeks before heading back. The flies are so thick this year that they will nearly carry you away. Even our local mobs are wearing fly nets to prevent them from getting fly bite. Have a look at the video of the fly trap!

04.01.2022 The ‘Feed the Watarrka Community’ program would not be possible without the incredible contributions of the Watarrka community. In our recent news article, Chri...s Hakanson (Watarrka’s Primary Health Care Manager) made mention of contributions made by Justin in particular, who has worked tirelessly to get this program up and running. Justin is a God send the fact that he is willing to live and work in the community amongst the flies and heat is admirable and something to be celebrated. His contribution to this program has been immeasurable. To make a donation to the project, follow the link: https://bit.ly/2R5LrfA
