24.01.2022 CYCLONE EVACUATIONS: Emergency services have decided to evacuate the communities of Numbulwar by road and Groote Eylandt by air, in the interest of public safet...y. NT Regional Controller Travis Wurst says the process has commenced for Numbulwar and will commence soon for Groote Eylandt communities. This includes outstations and homelands near these areas. Our information tells us that this severe cyclone will be extremely dangerous and too dangerous for people to shelter in place. The system will be large and intense, with significant damage expected. Some people have already self-evacuated. Everyone else in these communities is asked to be ready for evacuation across today and tomorrow. Before departing, residents are asked to: Empty the fridge and turn off all taps Turn off electricity Lift appliances and furniture up above flood level Residents with pets are advised to plan for their pets. Animals cannot be taken into public emergency shelters. Pets should be left in the strongest room in the house without windows, with enough food and water for five days. Residents are encouraged to leave a note on their front door to identify that there are animals inside. What to bring to the Evacuation Centre: 1 bag (which you can carry) per person. 19.01.2022 CAUTION: ONGOING RAIN IN ARNHEM LAND IMPACTING ROAD MOVEMENTS Late rains are continuing to cause disruptions to motorists travelling in Arnhem Land, particul...arly on Central Arnhem Road. Inundated roads have not yet had a chance to dry out which has resulted in significant rutting and wash outs. A few sections of road have been graded to allow heavy machinery movement, however some sections of road remain too wet to grade. The Department is working with the transport industry to facilitate the delivery of fuels and produce to remote communities. A 4WD 4.5 tonne restriction remains in place for the road between Bulman and the Ramingining turnoff. Please drive with care. www.roadreport.nt.gov.au

15.01.2022 ***PROJECT SPOTLIGHT*** Ryans Bend Road Resheeting Principal/Client: Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics... Project Value: $357,539.83 Completion Date: 21/12/2018 Scope of works Ryans Bend Road is located approximately 268 km along the Carpentaria Highway, adjacent to the icon Heartbreak Hotel and the Tablelands Highway. Ryans Bend Road itself services a number of stations and is a well-used route for the tourist that visit this area. The works completed comprised of 6.5 km of road formation and Resheeting . Initially the existing section of this road were ripped and relayed. This set a foundation to elevate the surface 200mm higher to allow the gravel surface to better handle wet season conditions and provide safer transit for all the users. This works was undertaken as part of a Federal Funding program.

09.01.2022 ****Update 1:53pm**** One lane is open on the Stuart Highway. Both lanes will be open in due course however the public is asked to follow all traffic control t...hat may be in place. Mataranka Police, Fire and Emergency Services are attending a Road Train fire approximately 1km north of the Mataranka Township. Although the Road Train is off the road, the Stuart Highway is currently closed to both north and south bound traffic while the fire is being dealt with. Once the fire has been put out, traffic control will be put into place allowing traffic to flow again. A timeframne is unknown but updates will be provided as the incident unfolds. There are no injuries involved and the cause of the fire will be investigated.

08.01.2022 VICTORIA HIGHWAY - TIMBER CREEK **UPDATE** The Victoria Highway is now open in both directions. ... / Due to an incident, the Victoria Highway, 5km East bound from a timber Creek is down to one lane and under traffic management. All vehicles can get through but motorists should expect slight delays. A further update will be provided at midday.

Project Value: $862,013.00 Completion Date: February 2019 Scope of works The relocation of services to Katherine East ties in with the Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics work in relocating essential services of the flood zone. The new fire station allows for accommodation of fire crew/staff and is available for afterhours use by volunteers. It provides a venue for training, offers a workspace for vehicles and safety equipment and provides shelter for fire fleet on standby. Remote Civil were retained to undertake: Clearing of vegetation and grubbing, together with removing of topsoil layer Remove of unsuitable materials and backfilling Import materials and construction of design level building pads. Construction of internal roads and carparks Construction of Stuart Highway linking road. Mechanical street sweeping of public road adjacent to site access. Disposal of waste materials leftover from other trades.
