24.01.2022 COVID-19 has had a significant impact on our national economy. Physical distancing policies, travel restrictions and general uncertainty have all contributed to some of the most severe changes to economic activity that we have seen for many decades. Every regions' economy is unique. Not only does every regions’ economy have its own unique composition of employment across industries, there are also unique combinations of occupations within industries, unique industry supply chains, and patterns of household consumption. You can explore the impacts of COVID-19 for local economies across Australia, via the public access REMPLAN Economy Profiles. Details are available on our most recent blog https://bit.ly/2AQF0Ia #ABEIS #covid19impact

18.01.2022 Bicycles, the new toilet paper! Travel Time Analysis As vehicle traffic has declined across many parts of Australia due to COVID-19, there has been a boom in walking and cycling. Bicycle retailers are struggling to keep up with demand. If the shift to cycling and walking is sustained, then this will have implications for how we define neighbourhoods, cities and service areas.... To assist with location analysis, Bicycle and Public Transport options have been added to the Travel Time Analysis feature in REMPLAN Community. This allows you to enter an address, specify the mode of transport, and enter the allowed time for travel. The software then automatically generates datasets for these areas based on an isochrone database, like those utilised by satellite navigation systems. It typically requires around five minutes for the dataset to compile. Here’s how it works: https://remplan.co/3iMzR4r

15.01.2022 A transition to #renewableenergy is occurring across the country, with 24% of total electricity generation in Australia provided by renewables in 2019. Victoria for example, has a renewable energy target of 50 percent by 2030. This target is guided by Victoria’s Renewable Energy Roadmap. REMPLAN was engaged by the Victorian Government to support the Roadmaps by demonstrating the economic benefits that various types of renewable energy deliver in the respective regions. REMP...LAN developed an online, public-access modelling tool to estimate the socio-economic benefits of renewable energy investments. The #energytransition will generate billions of dollars of additional economic activity, create thousands of jobs, put downward pressure on electricity prices and reduce emissions from electricity generation. 02.01.2022 Economic and demographic data to support evidence-based decision making.

01.01.2022 Most businesses and organisations across Australia, including REMPLAN, have needed to respond and adapt quickly to the COVID-19 environment. For REMPLAN, part of this has related to adopting new IT systems to support the team to work from home, however the major changes for us relate to supporting our clients, who in turn are urgently supporting the businesses and industries in their states, regions and local government areas. With clients across the nation, we have leveraged... our unique position to deliver a nationwide survey of businesses (ABEIS), providing these results to government organisations to assist with economic recovery initiatives. Building on these beginnings, we are working on additional resources to assist our clients during the remainder of the pandemic and on the other side. https://remplan.co/2Wwezji
