24.01.2022 IOT does not necessarily mean expensive connectivity options. Here’s a nifty way to achieve cloud monitoring of multiple remote devices using the LoRa network. Did you know by using the ISM band (International Science and Medical band at 916Mhz), we’re able to communicate from many remote sites up to 10km away without any WiFi signal, repeaters or Internet connectivity. All you need is a 24V DC power connection on site and a gateway located up to 10km away (with an internet ...connection of course) . We’ll soon be releasing a short demonstration video on how a multi pump system with ABB Drives and SICK Instrumentation can be monitored remotely through a cost effective cloud solution. www.remtron.com.au #ABBDrives #SICK #SickInstrumentation #IOTSolutions #RemtronTechTip Learn more https://youtu.be/3cIGzwH-NI8

24.01.2022 Introducing the ultimate in flexibility and compactness in manufacturing lines. We are seeing trends where customers are seeking to reduce their batch size to meet smaller volume online demands of many consumers. This can lead to end of line packing and pelletizing with multiple robots. Each orange ball in the below video represents products within a package. In the last few months, Remtron we have deployed two major ACOPOSTrak B&R systems to major pharmaceutical and Food... & beverage companies in Melbourne for this exact reason! The option for creating new lines is now easy by re-shuffling and shaping the conveyor system as demand grows or shrinks. Get in touch with us to know more about how a B&R Acopostrak system can suit your needs! [email protected] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDT0cJW6vEw

24.01.2022 Did you know that 40% of the worlds industrial energy is lost due to leaks in the compressed air system? Now more than ever, with increasing costs within businesses, it is more important that factories are as efficient as possible. 21.01.2022 Whilst light curtains have been around for over 70 years, advancements in technology now allow for complex applications whilst maintaining high levels of safety. From the first wooden models presented in 1951 by Dr. Erwin Sick to what we see today, light curtains can now be configured so that there is no need for complex automation systems. Examples include recognising of certain patterns on a conveyor line to allow safe operation to continue rather than stopping production. ...In this case, we would recommend a combination of safety products from SICK wired directly into an ABB machinery drive with inbuilt safety functions such as Safe Stops( STO), Controlled Safe Stops (SS1) and Safe Limited Speeds (SLS). If networked, information can be sent to any existing PLC’s or SCADA systems alerting personnel of what has happened. 16.01.2022 We’re kicking off a new series called Tech Tip Tuesdays where each Tuesday our engineering team will provide some tips on recent applications they’ve worked on. Measuring the length of materials such as vinyl prior to cutting is a common industry requirement. Remtron’s Tony Wilson recently used an Autonics CX6 counter and eliminated the need for any PLC or external controller. By using counting pulses from a standard rotary encoder, and Autonics counter these can be co...nverted to actual length measurements using the embedded scaling function. On reaching a predetermined setpoint on the front panel of the counter an event output can be used to control a guillotine for cutting material to a required length. https://www.autonics.com/series/3000888 See more

12.01.2022 The quickest way to set up an Allen Bradley PLC with B&R X20 Remote IO with Ethernet IP is by using Automation Studio with System Designer and selecting the Generic Ethernet IP CPU as the Allen Bradley CPU. From then on, select the Ethernet IP X20 bus controller and then just drag and drop the rest of the IO system and build! It will create an L5k file that you can drag into your AB software platform and then configure like IO system. The X20 IO system from B&R is plug and play with Allen Bradley CPU’s and offers compact remote IO solutions for an absolute fraction of the price. 09.01.2022 Shaft alignment tolerances Sometimes it’s the little things that count. Our tech tip today comes from Matthew Woodroffe. At high RPM, the little things can make a substantial difference to the operation of critical machinery. Laser Alignment, Precision Shim's and skilled tradespeople all help in keeping infrastructure running. The photos show a motor being re-aligned using precision shims (Note the non precision 'shim'). 05.01.2022 Whilst there have been some changes in the way that ABB Low Voltage Products go to market with wholesalers, this does not affect Remtron and how we continue to service and support our wholesale partners. Our channel to market remains unchanged here and we will continue to provide technical expertise and guidance as we have for over 30 years. https://www.remtron.com.au//remtron-s-commitment-to-wholes

05.01.2022 Today’s Tech Tip comes from our Drives Application Engineer, Anthony Merrett who says its actually quite easy to configure nearly 90% of your ABB Drives without having to be on site or waiting for 415V power to be connected. This is handy when communication is required to an onsite PLC or the site does not have power yet. 04.01.2022 Let’s face it, we now live in a world where working from home and remote access is a standard. COVID has taught us new ways to adjust and continue working as best as possible. Today’s tech tip comes from Domenic Orlando who had a large end user in the beverages industry. Due to COVID restrictions, they urgently needed a quick solution to monitor production from home and were unable to arrange anything through the highly firewalled 3 layer network security system administered... by the IT department. Domenic was able to set up a SECOMEA industrial IOT gateway which enabled cloud access through the network (or a SIM card) for quick and easy access to industrial devices within minutes. 02.01.2022 Today, even more than ever, our businesses face challenges in reducing costs. Whilst there are many ways to do this but in an industrial environment, pumps fans and compressors are one of the biggest culprits of wasted energy. We often change fluro lights and high five each other on how much we have reduced costs and saved energy. However, much more can be done. Click below to read about how Remtron’s very own Mark Judson had worked with A1 Electric Motors PTY LTD to significantly reduce energy costs with an ABB SynRM motor for an existing refrigeration compressor. Feel free to get in touch with Remtron, Mark or Chris from A1 Motors if you would like an energy appraisal to see how much you can save on any pumps fans or compressors with SynRM technology ! https://www.remtron.com.au//campbell-australasia-cuts-cost

02.01.2022 Today for our Tech Tip Tuesday, Anthony Merrett, our Drives specialist speaks about a little trick he uses when trying to understand how a drive is set up with external circuits (I/O). It is particularly useful for any application that you may be unfamiliar with and having to fault find. Time is usually wasted checking what signals are getting to the drive. However, rather than using a multimeter for most set up situations, the I/O menu in the ABB drive panel can show not ...only all the physical I/O status but also how they are programmed for use within the drive. Handy when using pre-programmed application macros that are available within the ABB Drive series. From here the operator can interrogate many of these functions without searching through the other menus. This function is accessed from the Main screen by hitting MENU on the top right soft key and then using the down arrow until I/O is highlighted and then SELECT. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwMvGM7AxAw
