25.01.2022 Here’s a common-sense, old-school food craving tip that works!!! Just because you have a craving, doesn’t mean you have to give up on your goals you can use these tips to have the BEST of both! CRAVING PASTA? try the fiber/protein-rich varieties made out of lentils or chickpeas (these are surprisingly filling!!!!). ... OR, use spiralized veggie noodles they are literally everywhere now in the grocery stores, fresh and frozen. Tip: try using zucchini or eggplant slices in your lasagna. CRAVING ICE CREAM? try whipping up a frozen dessert bowl with 1 cup frozen berries and to cup of your favorite milk. Blend in scoop of your favorite protein powder for more oomph! It seems so simple but small changes like these that can add up to big results in building a healthy lifestyle! What’s YOUR fave craving swap!? Let me know below!!



25.01.2022 Let’s get REAL about food cravings ... Almost everyone gets them even people whose jobs it is to help others reach their goals! (Hint: ME!) So I am going to tell you exactly WHAT I DO when I feel a craving coming on.... I stop and think - Am I really hungry or am I just bored? Alot of times when I have cravings Im really trying to procrastinate from what I should be doing. I think about a few things - I think where is my cycle at - coming up closer to my period I will definelty have more sweet craving. I think what else have I eaten in the day - have I had enough protein Lots of times I may have cravings and generally it is because I have under eaten for the day. I love this protein water for when your on the go. Depending on my mood or how Im feeling is to what I do. Other times I have a craving and I just eat it - I have a really sweet tooth and I love chocolate. So I make sure I have heathy options available to me - and if I have that craving I just eat what I’m craving and move on - no guilt. Don’t let a temporary urge get in the way of achieving your goals! YOU are stronger than your cravings you just need to have a go-to strategy in place for when they strike, so they don’t knock you off course. Do you get food cravings? How do you deal with them? 23.01.2022 Here’s a quick and easy way to bump up your confidence and self-esteem ... Sit (or stand!) up straight! Researchers found that people who were told to sit with good posture had MORE confidence in their own thoughts.... People who sat with good posture (vs. slouched) gave themselves much higher ratings for professionalism in their career. Interesting often we are told that standing up straight gives people a better impression of us, but apparently it also gives us a better impression of ourselves! Not only that, but having good posture can help you avoid injuries, keep your muscles in balance, and help maintain core strength! Next time you want a little confidence boost, check your posture!

22.01.2022 MYTH OR FACT The fitter you are, the more you sweat. ... . . FACT! Fit people tend to sweat more than people who don’t work out regularly. It’s all about how much heat they generate! The fitter you are, the higher your workload and the higher your workload, the more heat you generate! That’s what leads to the extra sweat. Also men tend to sweat more than women because they are bigger and generate more heat.

20.01.2022 If you need a dose of motivation to finish 2020 strong, try this: Look through your email contacts or social media followers/friends lists for the names of 5-7 people who have inspired you in the past. It could be someone whose work you admire someone pushed you to work harder at a job or in school who posts inspirational content that you enjoy ... or whose dedication in the gym or on the playing field made you want to try harder! ... Then, every day for the next 5-7 days choose one of them to message with a thank you and be sure to tell them the impact they made on you! This can help break you out of a rut and rev up your own motivation! Plus, it’s a great way to pay it forward. Try it and see. :)

20.01.2022 Q: I keep reading that it’s best to workout first thing in the morning, but I am not a morning person! Does it really matter? A: Some studies show that morning workouts are beneficial because they start your day with a fat-burning boost. Plus there are likely to be fewer distractions to get in the way of your workout! But other studies show our body temperature peaks between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., and with it, so can our strength. Plus, our bodies are better able to use oxyg...en and have better reaction times later in the day. The takeaway: It really doesn’t matter WHEN you work out just that you do!

I wasn’t sure if I should go as I had so many things to do but it was the best decision I felt so good after it and was actually more efficient for the rest of my day. We went for a walk and he had a paddle. We live in a beautiful spot and you sometimes forget how lucky we are to have such amazing beaches. 14.01.2022 I DARE YOU TO TRY THIS AT ALL OF YOUR MEALS TODAY . it’s a lot harder than you might think!!! It’s to SLOW DOWN when you’re eating by at least 50%. Take your time and really CHEW your food. You get extra credit for turning off all distractions when you’re eating, too no TV and no phone!... Studies show that people who say they eat fast gain weight over time and are more than 115% (!!!!) likely to become obese. Plus when you take your time to actually TASTE what you’re eating, you get to enjoy it more, and your digestive system has a much easier time doing its job! 14.01.2022 I’ve got a cravings buster tip for you today that is backed by research but you might get some funny looks if you do it in public! Here it is next time you get a craving, tap your forehead with your finger for about 30 seconds! According to researchers at Mount Sinai Hospital, doing this can make cravings less intense, plus it blurs the image of the food you’re craving in your mind!... Interesting right? Tapping your foot on the floor and tapping your ear also works, but not as well as tapping your forehead. Give it a try and see if it works for you!

12.01.2022 When you think of role models for confidence and self-esteem, Jennifer Lopez might be a name that comes to mind! But I bet you didn’t know that she struggled for YEARS with low self-esteem. Her story is the perfect example of how we ALL have challenges in that area, and if we want to create an AMAZING life for ourselves, we need to learn how to overcome them! ... Jennifer Lopez has been singing, dancing, acting, and entertaining the world for decades. She has been named the world’s most beautiful woman, has had numerous hit albums, been on top TV shows, and so much more! But the truth is, she said when her first marriage broke up, she realized her self-esteem was very low. Before then, she said she had based her feelings about herself on the approval of others, instead of finding it from within. And with the constant criticism that women in Hollywood can face, it took a pretty heavy toll. To overcome it, she used positive self-talk and hard work to motivate herself. She said in an interview she would tell herself: ‘I'm a great actress, I'm a great singer, a great dancer. I'm great at this stuff! And I'm gonna keep going!' And I did. And that's all I did. I just kept going, she said. And I just started working harder and harder than everybody else. I started believing in myself. I started believing in the fact that I wasn't an imposter, that I wasn't a fake. Pretty inspiring, right? It’s a simple formula, and it definitely worked for her positive self-talk and taking ACTION!

10.01.2022 Meal planning and prepping for the week is a one of my non negotiables My Life runs so much smoother when I’m organised How do I do it ... I have been using my latest recipe pack and planning meals from there I follow my macros - which I few give me the best balance in my food for my fitness goals. I plan my food for the week that will work for my and my family. I try to choose meals that will work for both my husband and kids. But I sometimes have to cook seperate meals. My husband can’t eat gluten. By Using my recipe pack I can easily track my Macros - it has made my life so much easier. see down the side in the picture it has breakdown of protein fats & carbs. It also has barcode you can scan directly into my fitness pal. My Personalised meal plan that I’ve written out doesn’t include snacks they will be added in so I know I reach my macros each day. I’ve talked my macros at end of each day to give me an idea of what I still need to eat. My recipe packs also have meals Plans and shopping lists that you can follow along and you don’t have to do any planning. Just buy the food from the shopping list and make it I also find if I’m lower on my protein I tend to snack, crave more sugars and look for those quick fixes!! So I aim To reach my protein each day. 08.01.2022 Quick tip to help you avoid the iffy sniff test when it comes to leftovers ... Make sure you label ALL of your leftovers and prepped food BEFORE you put them in the fridge or freezer! It doesn’t have to be a fancy label. A piece of masking tape and a magic marker will do the trick. Just write what’s inside the container and (most important of all) THE DATE.... I know we always THINK we will remember when we put that leftover stir-fry in the fridge, but too many times we don’t! There’s no point in doing meal prep ahead of time if you just end up throwing it out! Do you label everything before you put it in the fridge? Let me know below! :-)

04.01.2022 What I do to stop cravings when I haven’t slept well the night before... You know what I’m talking about sleepless nights the worst! They can really throw you off your game and also make you feel hungry because it throws your hunger hormones out of whack.... So here’s what I do when those cravings hit ... I always keep my goals in mind of what I’m really wanting to achieve my WHY as to what motivates me and keeps me going I know what foods fuel and make my body feel good and I also know what doesn’t agree with me. So when theses cravings arise I think about how its going to make me feel. It's bad enough being tired but how about tired, bloated and flat.I have followed my macros for a few years now and It keeps me and my cravings in check. By following my macros means Im getting the right balance of protein, carbohydrates and fat that my body needs. I try to stay as consistent as I can with this as I know I feel best when I’m eating this way regardless of how tried I am. Having a plan and being prepared is so important! Do you notice a link between being hungry and not getting enough sleep? How do you handle it?

03.01.2022 Often, in rescue, I am forced to make immediate decisions. Quite often, they can, quite literally, be the difference between life and death. Sadly, things very ...seldom go to plan and, last night, I was reminded of just how complicated things can get when we are dealing with highly emotional relationships between people and their pets. Last night, we became involved in one such situation. A dog requiring lifesaving surgery, an owner with no resources and a vet who, understandably, has a policy of no credit or accounts being given. As you can imagine, things escalated quickly and without help, crucial minutes were ticking by and the dog was suffering. This story begins in the early hours of Monday morning. Under cover of darkness, new mummy, Bundy, had given birth to 5 beautiful babies. Unfortunately, things started to unravel around 5am when it became evident that despite pushing desperately, one of Bundys puppies had become stuck inside her. Around lunchtime, her owner presented at a vet clinic but was unable to get treatment for Bundy due to lack of finances. She exhausted all options to fund Bundys treatment, applied for vetpay, zipay and approached everyone she knew to try to get money to help her dog. After being turned away from all avenues, she then took Bundy home but after closing time, she realised that Bundy was in serious trouble and went to another vet, begging for help. Now, please, for goodness sake, do not start commenting about how mean the vets are for not helping. The main reason that vets no longer provide accounts is because people fail to keep their promises to pay. Contrary to popular belief, vets profit margins are tiny and most clinics are only just breaking even. Obviously, the cost of keeping a number of staff after hours, performing emergency surgery and making sure that her and whatever pups she had were safe, meant that this was always going to be an incredibly expensive undertaking. Understandably, Bundys owner and her children were extremely distressed. So much so that social workers became involved, in an attempt to come to a satisfactory outcome. Bundys owner refused to put her to sleep and kept changing her mind as to whether she would surrender Bundy and her pups to the clinic, and ultimately to us. This standoff, sadly went on for hours, with poor Bundy suffering more and more as her owner struggled to make a decision. We were on standby, ready to pay the bill and get Bundy on the operating table as quickly as possible but her owner was really unable to process losing her dog, in any way, shape or form. After much discussion, we finally reached a compromise that would save Bundys life AND help her distraught family. We decided to get Bundys surgery done late last night. Incredibly, she still had 7 pups stuck inside her. Whilst 4 were already dead, we had 3 little miracles to add to this family. Sadly these pups have had a rough start and we do not know what their prognosis will be. The ones born naturally went without the crucial first 12 hours of nursing and the ones stuck inside their mumma were under extreme stress. Sadly, this afternoon at the vets, one of our babies crashed and passed away. Late this afternoon, Bundy and her 7 remaining puppies arrived into our care. They will require around the clock nursing if they are to have any chance of survival. This will be a last litter program with a twist as after her puppies are weaned, a desexed Bundy will be going home to her family. This might seem like a great outcome and, for the dogs and humans involved, it is BUT this decision that I chose to make, has come at a huge financial cost to our rescue. Our vet bill, for saving Bundy and her tiny babies, has come with a price tag of $4132. Yep, you read that correctly, over $4000 for one night!! Obviously, this was a totally unexpected expense but once we had committed to Bundy, I couldn’t back out. This beautiful girl and her babies needed us and we had to help. So, as much as we hate asking for help, tonight I am begging for your assistance. We have other dogs having major surgeries this week and losing 4 grand in one night is a major hit. Should I have said no? Possibly. Should I have walked away when things turned complicated? Probably, but that is not what KPR is about. Scientists think that playing the game distracted them long enough for cravings (which usually last just a short while) to pass. In a study published in the journal Appetite, college students who were having cravings either played a video game or waited for the computer to load. A quarter of the game players reported their cravings went away. Note: it doesn’t have to be Tetris, according to the researchers. It can be anything that requires focus and has plenty of eye-grabbing visuals!
