24.01.2022 It's always a good day at RenMan HQ when a parcel turns up, even if it's just a couple of tools and some Belgian grease.

10.01.2022 I was in Bunnings on Monday and a guy in a red polo-shirt asked me if I wanted decking. Fortunately, I got the first punch in.* Later in the day, I was listening to a review of the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie on the wireless, and was amused to note that I was literally swabbing the deck at the time.** Tuesday was top-coat time. ... Looks like it will be lovely for the tenant (and the weathered bits on the edge will look better once it has dried). *parts of this comment are true - you work out which bits **all of this comment is true ***am I getting carried away? ****I think I am

06.01.2022 Here's an interesting article about a couple of things I like - tools and wheelbuilding. Check out the photos in good mate Melody Wheels' workshop. Happy to have done some fun work to help produce those sexy benches :-)

06.01.2022 Bicycle whispering time. It started with 'Please adjust my brakes' (done), and then turned into a once-over as 'some bolts have fallen out' (more were about to...). It was quickly apparent that the headset was loose, and shortly after that something was amiss when I tried the normal method to adjust it. I replaced the star fangled nut, re-assembled and adjusted the headset. I also spent some time sorting out the front shifting, and attended to some other minor issues - all consistent with it not having been put together with as much care as it warranted. All good now - she's a wee ripper! :-)

01.01.2022 Here's a job I completed successfully, after a leading plumbing franchise walked away from the work. The problem was leaking taps in a '60's house, with the pipes built into the wall. The tap seats proved not to be fixable by grinding (the usual method) as they were too old and corroded. I tapped in a new thread and fitted new seats and washers. Problem solved, and the taps are now much easier for old hands to operate!
