25.01.2022 COVID-19 preparedness - call for nursing staff to travel interstate. The ANZSN COVID-19 Working Group are calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from nurses who would be prepared to travel interstate and work at hospitals suffering staffing shortages, during the COVID-19 crisis. All EOIs should be emailed to [email protected] prior to Thursday, 23 April 2020.
24.01.2022 Wow ... what a great start to the RSA Virtual Conference as we heard a motivational address from Catherine DeVrye. Next was the 2021 RSA Awards program, and I am delighted to share news of the award recipients -- Branch Awards to Kim Grimley (NSW/ACT), Jason Wei (NZ), Jenny Best (QLD), Jane Maberley (SA/NT), Kristen Schuck (VIC) and Paulo Mapa (WA) -- Clinical Excellence, Caroline Hombarume (NT) -- Education Excellence, Monica Schoch (VIC) -- Practice Advancement, Pauline Byrne (NSW) ... and the winner of the RSA Award is the amazing Monica Schoch. Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is an ever-evolving disease with new information being published and care expanding regularly. Anaemia is a common consequence of CKD and the Anaemia Management in Chronic Kidney Disease Workshop series is designed to provide an overview of the fundamentals of renal anaemia and its implications for CKD patients, including management options. 16.01.2022 Over the past fortnight, the RSA Branch Virtual Symposia Series delivered seven sessions, over 13 hours of professional learning and introduced 27 speakers to many, many hundreds of attendees from across Australia and New Zealand. Huge thanks to each Branch Committee for their passion and commitment to produce a program of insightful topics and engaging speakers. 10.01.2022 What a mammoth morning of sharing information, knowledge and experiences. Fiona Donnelly shared her personal transplant journey in her "On the other side of the fence" session. No doubt many of those watching were reaching for the tissues as Fiona told us her raw and inspiring story ... with numerous delegates echoing gratitude to Fiona. And, the virtual clapping continued when Fiona was inducted as a RSA Life Member at the annual general meeting. Congratulations Fiona on all you have - and will continue to - achieve.

07.01.2022 As announced at last nights AGM, the RSA Board of Directors 2020-21 will consist of Jon Hosking - President, Leanne Brown - Vice President, Debbie Fortnum - Vice President, Paul Bennett, Fiona Donnelly, Anna Lee, Andrew Phillips, Debbie Turner and Edward Zimbudzi. In a message to members, the newly-appointed President, Jon Hosking acknowledged the tireless work of Fiona Donnelly during her four years as President. 06.01.2022 The National (Aust) Strategic Action Plan for Kidney Disease was launched on World Kidney Day, 12 March 2020. The Action Plan provides a blueprint for transforming kidney disease in Australia over the next 10 years. The next phase is implementation. Minister Katie Allen MP, Member for Higgins, officially launched the Action Plan on behalf of the Australian Minister for Health, Hon Greg Hunt MP. Katie Allen was a paediatrician who has a lived experience of kidney disease (me...mbers of her family) so it was fitting that she was able to do the announcement. It was a fantastic morning with around 30 guests including kidney patients, carers, health professionals, chronic disease alliance partners and friends, plus of course, Kidney Health Australia (KHA) staff. This great representation from every sector of our community was a reflection of the importance of the Action Plan for our community.
