I loved getting to photograph the bond between Renee & Thomas ( Yes the name coincidence I know!) as they expect twins!!! And complete their happily ever after ! 18.01.2022 The most interesting people colour outside the lines. Have you put off family photos because youre worried that your child will not feel comfortable, that they can't sit still, or cant give eye contact to a camera? That a photographer would need to fit in with their routine and be patient and understanding of their abilities and needs? That a shoot date may not work out if they are having a bad day, requiring flexibility to change plans at a moments notice? I'm starting a ve...ry special photography project I'm calling 'Colour outside the lines'. I am calling for families of kids on the spectrum whether they are autistic, aspie, empaths, oppositional, and all the things in between! I want to photograph your child in the environment they are at their happiest to create artwork around their loves, passions...even obsessions. I am an award winning AIPP accredited photographer with over 10 years experience in the field working with children, newborns, and families, as well as mum to two boys on the spectrum. This provides me with understanding of the challenges of being a different abilities family, so this project is close to my heart as I have empathy and understanding for the parents and children alike. I am offering to come and take images of your child doing what they love and supply you with a free print to keep of them from their session doing what they love most. This offer is open to all ages and backgrounds. I am located within the Mornington Peninsula and to begin with looking for families around Melbourne, South, South Eastern and Peninsula Suburbs. This project is close to my heart, so if you love the idea of professional photos of your little person, but have until now considered to be too stressful and anxiety filled for you and/or your child, please do get in touch! The more I know of your story before your session the better we can capture a beautiful, honest portrait of your child in their element that I just know you will love. 04.01.2022 Last year I entered the APPA awards which are the national professional photography awards in Australia. I earned enough in the awards to become an Associate member of the AIPP and I hold that yellow ribbon as a symbol on bad days that I can do this. At the time of the awards and up until now, I have been in a very bad place, depression and anxiety have been at times debilitating. I took three months off social media last year and it was the best thing for me. I've thought l...ong and hard about posting such a personal post on my business page, because as much as their is alot of positive talk placed around the 'black dog' and people that suffer , lets be honest, there is a stigma. No one wants to publicly promote themselves and air their insecurities and mental health in one breadth. But... I do think its why I love what I do, I do think it will be the things that drives me to push my boundaries creatively, and as much as I have kept this page to the occasional portrait upload , I do want to start posting my images I love like Matchstick man here, that may not be a portrait but are things I enjoy making and make me happy to continue my photography. I do reflect my business and I need to be proud to do that and grow along with it . All I know is I love my job, which is also my hobby and passion (ok and relaxation) and no matter what happens its what I will always come back to , sometimes what I create will be...crap... sometimes it will be good, but I'm just going to keep going, experimenting, and being incredibly thankful to anyone who continues to follow me an watch where this goes. I'm so teary writing this post, because it really is a scary thing to put yourself out there honestly, So to all of you I hope you are doing well, and if not I truely hope you feel better soon, just know, getting through the day alone some days in itself is an accomplishment and just in being here your doing great!
