25.01.2022 "About one in every four homes in the nation of almost 25 million now has solar panels and that number continues to rise, increasing power supply and lowering consumption from the grid during the middle of the day, when the sun is at its strongest. It has even forced some utility-scale solar plants to shut down during their peak production times or risk having to pay the grid to take the electricity they produce." 22.01.2022 There is no doubt PV Solar is environmentally friendly for electricity production, and saves bills for you instead of buying that back from the grid. Though, once the products reach the peak of their life-cycle, usually after the 25 year bench-mark, what happens to the tons of lithium and silicon dioxide inside the batteries and panels? How can we recycle this effectively? The Australian Renewable Energy Association have been addressing this as an issue to attend over the n...ext year, funding $15 million in solving the end-of-life issues that solar systems will inevitably face, through utilising new materials, implementing more efficient recycling processes and using advanced silicon for n and p type panels. As PV installations increase, more funding will be allocated to research and development so that we can pro-long the functionality of the resources used to produce solar systems; for maintenance, upgrades and to re-integrate the resources into other environmentally friendly products.

20.01.2022 Seeming we are experiencing some disastrous bushfires this season: we have found an article from SolarQuotes explaining some processes you should go through if your home has, or could be effected. "How To Shut Down Your Solar System Shutting down your solar system is not complex and usually there will be instructions on your inverter. In most cases the two steps are:... Turn off the SOLAR SUPPLY MAIN SWITCH in the switchboard or, if there isnt one, then turn off the AC ISOLATOR switch which will either be next to or below the solar inverter. Turn off all DC ARRAY PV ISOLATORS switches (there can be more than one) next to or below the solar inverter. If you dont have clear instructions or you have any doubt about how to go about it correctly, then seek advice first. You can get help from your installer or, if theyre not available, another installer. The manufacturer of your inverter may also be able to assist, but not all solar inverters are well supported and have people available who can give good advice over the phone." 19.01.2022 Does a Tesla battery really suit you? Tesla produce AC coupled batteries, when your panels produce power, it comes in as DC (Direct Current), gets converted to AC (Alternating Current), and back into DC when its applied for use. This means that your electricity needs to be inverted three times before being in use: resulting in efficiency losses. ... DC coupled batteries for example, the LGChem, translated to electricity being converted once - after it is produced from the panel - resulting in higher efficiency of power for use in your home.

16.01.2022 "If you werent able to install solar in 2019, theres no need to feel as though youve missed out in a big way. For example, in 2020 the subsidy on a 6.6kW solar system installed in Adelaide is worth around $3,700 at current STC values; making early 2020 a great time to install solar panels. The important thing is to not rush a decision do your research and check out reviews of solar installers before signing on the dotted line. However, also bear in mind the longer you put off installing solar panels, the longer youre locking yourself into higher electricity bills and dont forget STC value can fluctuate with market conditions." 02.01.2022 Monocrystalline or Polycrystalline? What should i choose? Approximately 90 percent of the globes PV panels are made out of some form of crystalline silicon. A good way to separate mono and polycrystalline solar panels is that polycrystalline solar cells look perfectly rectangular with no rounded edges.... Monocrystalline solar panels have the highest efficiency rates since they are made out of the highest-grade silicon. The efficiency rates of monocrystalline solar panels are typically 15-20%. SunPower produces the highest efficiency solar panels on the U.S. market today. Their E20 series provide panel conversion efficiencies of up to 20.1%. SunPower has now released the X-series at a record-breaking efficiency of 21.5%. Unlike monocrystalline-based solar panels, for poly - raw silicon is simply melted and poured into a square mold, which is cooled and cut into perfectly square wafers. The process used to make polycrystalline silicon is simpler and costs less. Polycrystalline solar panels tend to have slightly lower heat tolerance than monocrystalline solar panels: given your system performs in the heat of the sun, mono is slightly more efficient.
