05.01.2022 I love my job, getting to work with people like Dave. Dave came to me about 6 weeks ago to increase his strength after a burst spinal fracturing to his L1 in March this year. Dave spent 14 months in a brace, unable to lift, walk up stairs and has roughly 3mm of bone floating around his spinal canal. ... He has always been active however never been in a gym before. Due to his injury and job as a trade he has over developed erector spinae. The aim of our sessions has been to activate his glute muscles to ensure they are the prime mover and doing their job to stabilise the hips, taking the pressure off his lumbar spine. To this day he still experiences numbness through his right side. During the first set of lateral lunges he wasn't able to get glute contraction to drive the knee out. I have used a light resistance band to help provide some kinaesthetic feedback. I am so proud to see how far he has come and can't wait to see his continued development over the coming months.

05.01.2022 A short vid of today’s movement prep before training. I haven’t trained since last week as my hips have been out. After seeing my Chiro on Wednesday due to pain in my knees, hips, mid and upper back I really wanted to focus on preparing the joints and muscles prior to exercise. Each movement is done slow however I sped it up to fit in the video. 1) band assisted deep squat with lateral lunge ... 2) hip rotation with gluten contraction 3) end range hip movement 4) lateral lunge with rotation I did 10 reps each side and really focused on controlling the movement. This was then followed by activation work.
